A great way to introduce your budding little dancer to ballet. There's time for fun when the kids can express themselves and their individuality. And time for serious learning about positions, movements and their proper names. Our instructor, Miss Alana, is very sweet while communicating attention to technique and respect for the rules when doing bar work. There are plenty of options if you'd like to purchase ballet attire/slippers. **My only gripe is no fault of the school, but if they could send a message to parents reminding them to use common sense and to be respectful during classes, that would be helpful.... unfortunately, there is a mother in my child's class who repeatedly causes distractions, such as taking FaceTime calls, and bringing her smaller unruly child to class. So instead of keeping an eye on her child that is taking the class, she is busy talking on the phone and caring for her smaller child who is small, so naturally difficult for him to stay quiet for the 45 minutes of class. Common sense would dictate that if you feel the need to participate in a FaceTime call, you would stand outside so as not to disrupt the class, because it is a quiet environment, and nobody needs to be listening to somebody's FaceTime call, or their child who is not in the class, making noise. It's disruptive and our instructor is there to teach the children, not instruct the adults who are viewing on how to be respectful of class time. Other than the one disruptive mother, it's a great fun little school. And my child looks forward to her sessions every week. read more

My 3 year old daughter loves this class! Teachers are patient, kind and engaging. We come every week, and if we have to miss a class it's really easy to make up classes. read more

Unfortunately, we had to cancel due to scheduling issues, but I also observed that the 18-month to 3-year age range felt challenging for us as we hit our 1-year anniversary of being at Tutu School & my toddler was closer to 3. There's a big developmental jump between new walkers and 2-3-year-olds and while our teacher did a wonderful job trying to engage everyone In our class, the younger children understandably needed more support, which made it harder for the older toddlers to stay engaged. I'm hoping maybe smaller or more age-specific grouping in the future, if possible, would help create a calmer, more focused environment for the kids. Also, the routines started to feel a bit repetitive for the older toddlers, which I suppose is understandable, but there was less enthusiasm to participate with my almost 3 year old as our class became a majority of younger babies. read more

Very cute the place and it is so fun the class she love her class always love this place read more

I really wanted to like this place given all the glowing reviews. However, my complains is the never-ending revolving door of teachers! She was there 1.5 years and I can't even count how many different teachers she had. It was ridiculous. She had one initially that quit, then for months they would just have different substitute teachers come in each week. It was throwing my daughter off and she would even ask me why the teachers were different. The issue is there is no consistency and each teacher teaches different things so it's hard to actually learn anything. Once she had her birthday, I changed her to the next age up class which was going decently well until again her teacher left and we got a bunch of replacement teachers. They eventually picked one that started coming in and that teacher was in my opinion bad. It was literally 2 months before their December holiday performance yet she did not even teach them the performance each session. I think they did it 1 or 2 times total. I was very annoyed since the previous year at least the teacher went over it each week a few times leading up to the performance. That was the last straw for me. Also, they mostly learn how to crawl around the floor like animals or hop like a frog and at 5 years old seems lacking in some basic ballet manners like what 1st, 2nd, 3rd position are. Take away : Don't send your kid here if you want a reliable consistent teacher and if you want your kid to learn any ballet skills read more

Our LO has been attending Tutu school for the last 2 years and she has really enjoyed it. The teachers are very supportive and helped her get to get comfortable and feel safe. Special mention for the Bravo Bash( bi-annual performance), a great way to give the kids an oppotunity to get on stage and perform in front of a large crowd. read more

We have been coming here a couple of months now and she is loving her ballet teacher. Its a cute class, after the teacher reads them a story and they color after. The class consist of 8 girls at most. They do recitals every 6 months. This will be our first bravo bash. So excited! read more

Great place for learning and having fun, my toddler really enjoys the class and she has gotten very agile.

I wanted to update my review to say how much my daughter learned at her time at tutu school. She has now aged out of tutu school, but when we moved on to a new ballet school for older students, she was immediately bumped up a class level after her first class because the teacher said she was too advanced for the class she'd originally been placed in. So THANK YOU tutu school for all the years of teaching my daughter ballet so well in such a fun, sparkly way! :) read more

Tutu School Sunnyvale - What a beautiful place ! My daughter is enjoying every second of the class - Dance Schools Near Me - Sunnyvale, California

The most wonderful ballet school for early learners! All the teachers have been amazing! Our favorites are Miss Bella, Miss Jocelyn and Miss Maranda. My girls enjoy the biannual recitals and special holiday events as well. I started my girls when they were 3 bc I felt like it was a good age where they can listen to directions. My older one has sadly just aged out but my younger one has just started and loves it! read more

My little one loved it here. There sometimes were subs that were a miss but that's understandable . I also wish they warned us about waiting lists moving up class levels because sometimes you get stuck at an age level because there are no spots in the one above. read more

My daughter started at Tutu school for the past two months (she is almost 3). Teacher Hannah is very patient and sweet to the kids. It is a fun interaction for the kids to learn a small amount of basic introduction into ballet, while also engaging enough through various fun activities. I would highly recommend Tutu School! read more

If you have a chance to have your little one take a class with Miss Julianna, do it! She is warm, fun, knowledgeable, and knows exactly how to engage with toddlers (my daughter is 3) so that they look forward to coming to class each week and learning ballet! Truly the best class I've ever signed up my little girl for. read more

This low rating is for lack of quality control among the teachers at Tutu Sunnyvale. Some teachers seem to have no relation to ballet whatsoever and some to dance as a whole, lacking any method or technique. By now we've been to multiple teachers. The best - Miss Miranda, Miss Sierra and Miss Celeste - they overall know what they are doing. I thank them for all the good experiences and learning that my child did. However, the rest is a waste of time and money. Children (5 yo) spend 30+ minutes running from wall to wall pretending to be a dog, a rabbit or whatever else. The teacher had no idea what she was doing in a Sunday class, had no method, no progression, no technique and NO PLAN! The group did not learn or practice any ballet poses or even proper stretches. The rest of the time was spent looking for places to hide around the empty dance room because the teacher ran out of idea of what to do with dancers. One idea might have been actually teaching kids ballet! they also had 0 practice at the bar.. This was indeed the worst class I have ever been to. It was embarrassing to watch, painful for the money & time wasted. I saw it on other parents faces too. Will be looking for other schools. read more

An excellent, age-appropriate introduction to ballet! We love the storybook adventures and whimsical approach. Miss Elizabeth is a very knowledgeable teacher who engages the kids and explains how technique work builds specific skills and then she demonstrates those skills! She has a thorough understanding of child development and strength building and personalizes the class according to the student's level. WE LOVE BALLET!! Thank you for making it magical for our littlest dancers! read more

My daughter started Tutu school at 2.5 years in August 2019 (in Mountain View). She was a shy kid with no exposure to a school setting. It was amazing to witness her grow in to a confident dancer thanks to the kind hearted teachers at Tutu School. All I wanted her was for her to interact with kids her age and she got a lot more including appreciating music, being patient, working as a team and enjoying dancing. She loves getting on stage and performing, something I never thought she will want to do. During COVID lock downs, tutu school's weekly online classes was her only outlet to interact with other kids especially when playgrounds and parks were were closed. Since opening the physical locations, the school has taken every precaution to keep the ballerinas safe, with mandatory mask wearing and hand sanitising. read more
