Our daughters enjoyed trying different styles like tap, Broadway jazz, and hip hop before finally deciding to try ballet - which they quickly fell in love with. One of the highlights of every year is the Nutcracker production. I love that even the youngest dancers get meaningful roles they are excited about. My daughters have so much fun participating and look forward to it year after year. What stands out most about 4S Dance is the culture. The older dancers are kind, welcoming, and encouraging to the younger students, creating a supportive environment that feels like a true community. I also appreciate the emphasis on age-appropriate choreography and costumes. We are so grateful to be part of the 4S Dance community and highly recommend it!

Still a wonderfully nurturing dance studio with immensely patient and dedicated teachers and staff…read more It's been 9 years, and the studio has grown in space and homegrown talent, which is evident in the ambitious goals the studio successfully executes each year. This is a ballet-based studio with a growing musical theater program, and fun recreational/non-competitive class offerings in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop and even pilates reformer. The ballet side includes a pre-pro program that is intended to nurture students with professional dance aspirations or just want to be in "club level" ballet (i.e. your young 9 year old kid will be there 2-3 times a week and your 12/13+ tween will be there 4/5 times a week multiple hours a day. Dancers participating in shows will have Saturday rehearsals). The AD has an annual assessment (for pre-pro students) to assess goals and steps needed to achieve them. Recently, many of these students have been invited to well known ballet SIs, including PNB, PBT, SAB, and ABT. The AD further supports their school/ballet balance and many of the pre-pro dancers have been waived out of PE through OCIS (Off Campus Independent Study). Annually, the staff presents "the Nutcracker" where all roles (except 1-2 adult male roles, which are professionally filled) are casted by their classically trained students. Over the last 3 years, they've also presented a shorter storybook ballet of similar caliber. Every year we've been here, there has been an end of year recital series, which is the main opportunity for the non-ballet students to present what they've learned in choreographed pieces. The studio has grown to include a musical theater program, which also provides opportunities to shine in "Mini Musicals". Yes, the hallways can be a little "extra", but that's what happens when students love the place so much that they are there for multiple classes in the afternoons, and on rehearsal weekends. And yes, dance can be pricey, but my experience is that the rec level classes are comparable to any other rec level activity my other kid has done with *professional* teachers, it's obviously more expensive than little league or soccer which are volunteer coached. Further, pricing is on a tiered structure, where "the more classes you take, the cheaper your 5th, 6th, 7th, etc class is." And yes - sounds nuts, but many of the pre-pro kids love it there enough that they're there for that many classes. Lastly, I didn't realize how grateful I am for this until my daughter got older, but the owners refuse to allow revealing costumes and uniforms. You'll find the students in leotards/tights, athleisure wear, and tasteful recital costumes - not a booty short or bra/crop top in sight, as I wish dance culture would be. Overall, a great place to be for those with professional ballet aspirations (and who want to be challenged appropriately), or who want to learn other styles for enjoyment without the expectation to compete.

My daughter danced here a few years ago and review is late but I'm reviewing all of her dance studies she attended as accurately as I can. Pros - Best training in the area Most classes available ( unlimited worth it) Original choreography at competitions. (Studio owner and teachers pride themselves on it) Training will provide a base and start for anyone wanting to dance professionally. Clean facility with food for purchase available as well as hand sanitizing stations. Kept floors and studio immaculate which we all know helps protect kids in cold and flu season. Cons Can feel impersonal due to the large number of students Some of the teachers can improve delivery of critique. At the time levels were discussed in front of students in some classes which I don't feel professional. Maybe that has changed. Daughter was happy taking technique there after years competing and leaving another studio because bad experience she was done with competition world. I think she would have got more attention/respect from teachers if she was on the team. She left for 2 months to film two movies and was dropped a while level that she was in because she wasn't there and it was done in front of class. I don't see how she could have drastically lost a whole level in that time and daughter didn't feel comfortable dancing with girls 3 years younger so we left studio. The same teachers had taught her for two years, in same level. The Studio owner was very professional and training was amazing, Daughters technique drastically improved while dancing at that studio. Daughter also bought original choreography from Nick to take to Cabaret for a cause in New York. She was featured in broadway world for this dance. I have all faith that Nick will not give this song, Choreo and costume to another dancer throughout his career and if you read my other reviews you will know that is important to us.

Caring teachers who know how to balance technique with fun! My daughter can't wait to go to class…read moreevery week.

I'm not a dance mom (yet). Just an older gal dancing in her socks at this conveniently located studio. Our class is a wonderful range of ages and women. I love that. We may giggle as we fumble the steps and lose our balance... but the class offers exactly what it needs to offer. Fun and movement. Me and about 14 others signed up via the Poway Adult School... but the studio offers drop in classes directly as well. I really hope to try them - they just don't jive with my mommy and work schedule like the Thursday am class has. But I'm hopeful they add more classes or I can somehow make it work. This class has been such a reawakening. When you dance as a child and young adult... and quit... you don't have many outlets for enjoying it after the classes and recitals stop. You don't round up the friends like you do for a game of golf or basketball. Enter... the adult dance class. Boom. Toby, our teacher, is wonderful. He is easy-going and clearly talented. I liked the neat little background he gave us on ballet too. The music is a fun mix of contemporary songs disguised in ballet music. Fun. So much better than I remember as a kid. While I do have some lingering memories of dance... my joints and muscles are in a complete state of disrepair. Frankly, it makes me extra happy to be in the beginner's class. At times it is a bit of a whirlwind, but with continued repetition it sinks in. "Osmosis" as Toby says. So I try not to worry about the terms. I just enjoy each class, the break in my chaotic day... and dance (in between the hip cramps and forgotten steps).

Hopefully after reading my review you can make an informed decision to sign up or not. In the end we moved on to a new studio (cheaper price and better communication). But Georgia's still might the right choice for you. One of my biggest fears with any dance studio is when they force girls to dress and dance provocatively like they were in a hip hop music video. I'd say Georgia's is more on the conservative side which was a big plus. If you're new here it can be tough getting pertinent dance studio information. Sue (owner) has no concept of technology and often posts official announcements via poster board on the windows of the studio. Good luck getting info for picture day or info buying the recital video. That's probably one of the main factors for leaving here. The classes are fine and so was the instruction. Tho keep in mind instructors struggle with receiving information from the owner too. The big recital in June. After a year of classes you'll be expecting a proper recital and Georgia's doesn't disappoint. They rent out the Center Stage theater ( California Center of the Arts) for three nights of recitals. A total of 40 different classes put on a performance before a packed house each night. If you're into a big production, Georgia's is the place to go. Notes: - Cash only!?! This is not a liquor store! - Instructors can be let go on a whim.. - No parents allowed. They have a waiting room up front, or chairs in the back alley area but no cameras of the classes like other studios. - While there are some very competitive dancers (and parents) that's not the norm. - The receptionist/ cash collector is just there to collect payment. No vested interest in being enthusiastic about the studio or the customers. - There are additional fees for the recital and a whopping $26 per ticket to watch each night. I'm not suggesting Sue (owner) is making a profit and I suspect she's losing money on the recital. I'm pointing out additional fees you may or may not be made aware of. This also goes back to the lack of communication. So is Georgia's worth it? Look, there's a great recital and most people like this studio. Just know it's far from perfect and the owner refuses to modernize.. So yeah, give it a try for a year..

I can't say enough about the owner Angela who teaches my daughters class. She is so good with the kids and so sweet! Definitely recommend if you are looking to start your little one in ballet/tap! Update: We have loved sending our daughter here, but since we don't live in the area, we looked at another dance studio down the street from us. It did not compare to Scripps. There is such a warm family environment feeling when you walk into the studio, and all the teachers are amazing! Can't wait for her to be in the Nutcracker this year!

We agreed to meet at 3pm and she showed up at 3:45, I've included pictures of the emails so it's pretty crazy they are even refusing to take accountability for that. We only showed up for the classes recommended to our kids. I don't know what other times their classes are, and they admitted that they assigned us to the wrong class, so again, it's crazy that they're denying that now because this is a public forum. The gaslighting is honestly crazy. Mrs Angela IGNORED emails where I asked for clarification on my children's placement. When I asked the teachers in person how we could improve (after confirming it was a good time to talk and talking privately in their office), I was told that questioning their placement decisions was disrespectful. No mention of how my kids could actually improve. There were no behavioral issues, no failure to achieve specific goals, just "this is our placement decision, we don't need to give you reasons, it's disrespectful to question it." This lady doesn't care about kids. If she did, she would have been compassionate to my 6 and 3 year olds who were crying that they couldn't perform. She just doesn't like to admit that her business is poorly run so she ignores problems and kicks people out who try to discuss it. They treat the kids like paychecks, act accommodating when you sign up, and then just move people around as they see fit to make more room in classes or ensembles, regardless of the effect on the children. It's honestly harmful to the kids, who think they did something wrong (and again, the studio couldn't actually list anything we had done wrong). But this studio would rather tell a 3 and 6 year old that they are not good enough than admit their clerical errors. Don't expose your kids to this. Original review below: AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They have terrible office staff who misplaced my children. When they were told the proper level A MONTH after class began, they provided no help on how our daughter could stay with the friends she had made. They will take your deposits and change your schedule no questions asked. And if you do ask questions, they will call you "disrespectful." Absolutely disgusting way to treat children. They literally just take your deposit and do whatever they want with your children. Not a single class started on time and the owner was 45 minutes late to a meeting with me. Worst business I've ever dealt with.
