it was AMAZING. i used to go to an old studio where the environment and teachers were SO toxic!! i would go to dance feeling anxious and scared of what the girls and teachers would say. there was few nice teachers and few nice girls. so cal is an encouraging environment and the teachers and girls are so welcoming and kind! read more

What can we say other than we love SoCal Dance! Our daughter has been searching for a dance studio ever since her studio closed. It can be challenging to find a dance studio where there's no to minimal favoritism and where it's run professionally. We finally found the perfect studio for our daughter and she is attending her 2nd year now. SoCal is run by a studio owner who really cares about the team culture of the students. She makes the dancers feel like one big family. Pros- 1- Option for Convention and Competition Team. 2- Large new facility. 3- Organized and professional. 4- A wide range of dance classes such as: ballet, pointe, hip hop, jazz, tap, and more. 5- Fair pricing. 6- The studio owner is very involved and is a great support to the dancers. Cons- 1- No novice adult dance classes for moms that are wannabe dancers (like me) :( read more

My daughter was enrolled in the combo ballet/tap (3year old class) for about a month but she would come to class each time and sits in the corner, watch the other kids dance. So of course I decided it was a waste of $$ and took her out. The dance teacher Mrs Jen also agreed to take her out and re-enroll in a few months time; this way it breaks that routine of coming to class and just watching. I then emailed/called Lynn (studio owner) to ask about her thoughts of the situation and what the process would be if we could pause her account for now (so I can avoid re-enrolling her and paying another registration fee). No reply and nothing even after repeated emails. I ended up cancelling the account. Fast forward 6 months later, my daughter started showing more interest in dance so I decided to email SoCalDance again about enrollment but never received a response. This place is nearby/convenient for us (5min drive) but their poor customer service, lack of concern for the kids, inflexibility and overall poor management are the reasons I'm writing this review. My daughter is now at Signature Dance Academy and she is thriving! read more

Amazing Dance Academy! This studio teaches students discipline, independence, perseverance on and off the dance floor. The Owner/Director, Lynne is in a league above all other dance studio owners. She offers only top notch dance instructors, she takes the time to personally get to know your dancer so they perform at their best on and off the dance floor. Lynne and her assistant Ms Amanda always make special occasions extra special! No other dance studio compares! Both you and your dancer will love and enjoy this studio!@# read more

I have 3 girls who have danced for years. When our old studio closed down, we explored other studios and So Cal Dance. We were able to try classes before signing up. The other students at So Cal were friendly and welcomed my children. The owner is knowledgeable and the teachers are qualified and professional. My girls have improved greatly in their technique, and made lifelong friends here. We feel like not only did we join a great dance studio, we joined a dance family who cares and cheers for us. After 2 years, we are all very happy here. We made the right decision joining this studio. read more

We are very can I happy with our experience here in this dance school. It was very important to me that this could be a school my child would be happy in full many years. I watched the recital and was stunned by the dancing quality in all the age groups . Now we have been here for over a year and have come to appreciate the family feel and the great friendships between the kids and the parents. There are good quality consistency teachers with lots of variety. We love it! read more

Love the environment, the kids and the instructors! My daughter has grown significantly since going to SoCal Dance. It's amazing instruction with a personal touch that we haven't found anywhere else. The amount of growth from my dancer in a short period of time is HUGE! She made her high school dance team after only one year with Lynne & her instructors, which says it all! Everyone has a good time, the kids and parents are kind to one another and it's a positive environment for our kids, even on the competition team, which is priceless!!! Katie H. read more

From first hand experience this is what I can tell you...the owner Lynne Ingstad loves dance and will guide your child to their best potential. My daughter learned to love dance because of Lynne. She doesn't see fault, she sees potential. I am so happy we were privileged to meet her and set a positive dance future for my daughter. Her staff is top notch and your son or daughter will learn from the BEST! read more

Great instructors and owner is passionate! My girls love dancing with their friends and would do it everyday if the could!

After attending my third recital of this school I would recommend making sure what your child will be getting for your money. Their recitals seem to be more about supporting the school and their chosen ones who attend. Each child pays one fee to be in it. Part of the cost is for costumes (about $65 I think). The problem is, the money gets pooled. This means a child that is in one performance (costume consists of a tee shirt and shorts) pays the same as someone that is in six or more performances requiring six different costumes that cost a lot more. read more

My daughter has been going to So Cal dance for over 2 years. She loves the studio and Lynne and Kelly and all her instructors. She is always eager to go and she has learned so much. The studio is like a family, you always feel welcome and there is always a positive energy. After my daughter's first competition dance a few months back, the first thing she said when she came off the stage was, "that was so much fun." Lynne and Kelly and all the instructors not only teach quality dance, but they make it enjoyable and fun at the same time. We love So Cal Dance! read more

My three daughters have danced for years. When their former studio closed down they needed somewhere to dance. They could not have found a better place! The leadership of the studio and quality of the studio is unequivocally top notch. From technique classes to competition and convention teams, my daughters love it. My 2 girls have been taking classes at So Cal for about 4 years and it has been one of the best experiences. They have great friends there. Lynne, the owner, makes it so fun and they learn by leaps and bounds. My daughter competes and just won a first place trophy for her tap solo and 4th overall. The training is excellent and the girls love the camaraderie. I would highly recommend this studio. read more

My daughter has been at So Cal for 1 year and the growth she's shown has been incredible! They have wonderful teachers and small class sizes. But technique aside, the studio fosters team work and hard work. This is a family friendly studio. We love So Cal Dance! read more

WOW! I can't say enough FABULOUS words about this studio!!!! My daughter has been dancing at SoCal for 2 years and in that time she has developed a passion for dance that has been nurtured by the talented and caring instructors. It doesn't matter what skill level, the teaching staff at SoCal will meet each dancer wherever they are and bring out the very best, building confidence at the same time. My daughter has gone from just taking dance classes to becoming a dancer in such a short time, and it wouldn't have happened without the opportunities the owner Lynne gives to all her dancers to shine as individuals. All the teachers at SoCal are professional, gifted, and dedicated while creating a supportive family atmosphere at the studio. I couldn't be happier for all that SoCal Dance and the amazing instructors have done for my daughter! read more

Yikes! I brought my daughter here to try a tap class and was pretty shocked to see the teacher teaching the tap class in Uggs! How do you teach a tap class in Uggs?!? I asked one of the "dance moms" there if this was the tap teacher and they told me that she is the owner of the studio!!! It's safe to say that we wont be returning here to try any other classes. read more

My daughters dance at So Cal Dance and love it!! We have been with Lynne and her team for 2 years. We receive personal attention with sane prices which is much appreciated in this economy. Most important is how much my girls love to go to dance class and how much they have improved. We are all smiles at So Cal Dance! read more

My daughter has been going to So Cal Dance for 3 years and is currently on the competition team. She LOVES it and I LOVE it. Teachers are awesome and owner is awesome as well. Location is perfect, 8 minutes from my house. read more

My niece took her first dance class at so cal dance, and what a fun experience! We signed her up for an economical dance class, since she just turned five and her interest are ever changing. Miss. Lynne was such a fun teacher, we can't wait for our next class! read more

So Cal is a phenomenal dance studio! My daughters love it and all the teachers! They have learned a lot in the two years they danced there!

My daughter moved to this studio about a year ago and has enjoyed classes in ballet, jazz, turns, contemporary and acro. The standard of technique taught is exceptional yet what sets this studio apart from the others is the way each student is taught as an individual not as a group class participant. The competition team is very welcoming and not at all exclusive where teachers, students and parents come together to encourage each dancer to be the best they can be. read more

My son and daughter have been attending So Cal for about a year now. I only want the best for my kids and that's what we get at So Cal Dance. When I dropped my kids off on the first day I was greeted and made to feel so comfortable, which for a dad at a dance studio, is rare. My kids come home and rave about their teachers and classes that they take. I recently attended the annual recital and was impressed with the level of talent from all the students. Can't recommend it enough! read more

We've been coming to the dance studio for 2+ years - starting at age 4. Each season, we've added another dance style, at the request of my dancer. With so many different styles of dance, we've had nearly all the teachers and have loved all of them. Their interaction style, the content of the classes, the culminating recitals, all have been perfect for learning to dance and having fun. At 6 years of age, I'm over-ruling the request for competition just yet, but we see competition team bring home awards galore from every event so I'm sure it's in our future too. Lynn and her staff are excellent instructors from beginners to competition winners, boys and girls, Pointe to Hip Hop. read more

There aren't enough words to adequately describe how AMAZING this studio is! Lynne Ingstad, the owner and studio director of So Cal, is a true example of what every studio owner should strive to be. We just finished our first year at So Cal and finally feel as though we have found our 'dance family'. I drive OVER 40 minutes each way to attend So Cal and it's worth every single second spent driving! I have a boy and a girl who dance and they are every bit in love with the studio as I am. As a parent I hated the drama, cliques, and hostility that is present at so many studios these days. We left our old studio for that very reason. So Cal parents (and students) have been welcoming from the very start. Everyone is greeted with open arms and it's refreshing to be in a place where 100% of the families accept you and go out of their way to help and welcome you in. The teachers are some of the best in California and I am so fortunate that my kids get to train with them! I could go on and on about how fantastic this studio is but there isn't even room on the page. Do yourself a favor and come check it out. You'll be hooked after your first day! read more

Lynne is an amazing studio owner and director. After being a part of a studio for 6 months, I can honestly say that this studio as a whole is a treasure. From the owner/director, to the staff and teachers, families and students, you will not find a more welcoming and supportive place to be. Yes, we bring our kids from Oceanside to Poway just to continue being part of this little gem. We came in midseason due to some unfortunate circumstances that warranted us to leave our old studio of 6 years. Everyone welcomed my daughters and family with open arms. In fact, it was the love and support of this studio that gave my daughters the passion to dance again. So glad this studio took us in. Teachers have all been helpful and welcoming. I would highly recommend them to all my friends (and I have). Your children will grow both in dance and as a person here. Come take a class or two or three, you won't be disappointed. It is good to be a part of something beautiful and filled with such positive energy. read more
