Very rude teacher. Today when I came by to swap with my wife, there were a few parents in the dance room. So I walked in as well to see my daughter. I had a camera with me so I took a few photos. I knew that was allowed as at the end of class parents all went in and took photos. After a few minutes, the dance teacher came to me, and the first words she said were "I don't want you in the room." When I asked why there were parents in the room, and if photography wasn't allowed. She almost shouted at me saying they were there because their daughters were crying. Very valid reason but I didn't know that and she could nicely explain it to me. I told her I didn't knew that, and she simply said "I want you out of the room." How rude! read more

Our three children have over 17 years of combined competitive dance experience. Among them, they are active in ballet, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. We were previously involved with another studio for a number of years which the children weren't being challenged regularly. Last year, it was suggested we try Danceology. We came out for trial lessons and were immediately taken by the level of professionalism offered by the teachers, office staff and director. The studio itself is more than one would imagine, with seven separate dance rooms/ studios and different floor types for different dance styles. They offer both recreational and competitive classes for children 3-18. The instruction from staff is top notch. To top that, they regularly invite top choreographers from all over to visit and teach master classes. This type of instruction really accelerates student learning because they are challenged by various influences and learn from the best. Some other dance studios have a seating area for parents to wait while children dance. Danceology has a lounge, cafe area and benches outside each studio. In the cafe, video monitors are on focused on studios upstairs so parents can enjoy watching their children's progress and performance. I can't say enough about Danceology other than I'm so happy we are able to offer our children more and have them regularly challenged in an activity they are passionate about. I took dance classes from them during middle school after they first opened up in the 4S Ranch plaza. Nikki and her cousin were handing out paperwork and flyers as well as selling merchandise to encourage people to sign up. Because they seemed friendly and enthusiastic about creating a great environment for dancers young and old, I signed up. My first few classes with Nikki teaching Ballet and Jazz were good - she gave great advice for spotting turns without getting dizzy and came up with creative, fun ways to keep Jazz interesting. Her cousin taught a fair Tap class but I feel that the techniques expected of students were not very professional, more like showy ones that were okay for a performance or two. Eventually I was unable to take classes taught by either of them and received 2 new instructors for Jazz and Tap. The Jazz teacher seemed very disorganized and I personally found it irritating that she babied us whenever she taught. (Often giving instructions for routines as if we were too slow to understand her.) The Tap teacher was kind and focused her session on rhythmic tap which was good. The sad thing was there happened to only be 2-3 students in the Tap class which resulted in it being removed from the roster of classes offered. Due to a combination of conflicts in personal schedule and a feeling of disinterest in something I used to enjoy, I quit dancing altogether. Even if I was still dancing, I would not come back here because the style of dancing lacks the professional quality that I would need/use if I decided to pursue dancing as a career. If you personally like dancing in a showy, unconventional way then this is the place for you. read more

I enrolled my kiddo in classes here to try it out despite warnings from other mothers that Danceology was too focused on making money and recitals. My daughter didn't like classes but I pushed her to keep going thinking she might need a little time to adjust. My daughter loved dance before we started class here and danced nonstop but after we started she complained about class and stopped dancing at home. Originally, I canceled thinking we might re-enroll after she got a bit older but when I canceled I was notified that I'd be charged for a month of classes ($72) because of a two week cancellation policy. I have several issues with the handling of my cancellation. 1) Nobody asked me why I wanted to cancel and how they could keep us as customers. Shouldn't a business always seek feedback from it's customers? 2) My daughter potentially has 7-8 years of dance ahead of her. Might it be a good idea to offer to apply cancellation fee to a future class? 3) I wasn't told about the 2 week policy. Ok, I signed the contract. But doesn't a two week cancellation policy equal a two week cancellation penalty? 4) $72 dollars to cancel dance classes for a 5 year old? Seriously? I like to take my daughter to businesses that offer her examples of how I would want her to treat customers if she were ever a business owner. This business just doesn't make my cut. read more

This whole new location confused me as I just moved to Rancho Bernardo/4S Ranch area. It was difficult for me to find the updated information and I'd like to make it easier on YOU! Now that I took care of this housekeeping issue. I can do the fun part which happens to be writing the review! I had hoped to introduce my daughter to a new skill/talent. Plus, I wanted her to meet some new friends in Rancho Bernardo/4S Ranch neighborhood. I believe we got even more than we bargained for in the Danceology Community. My daughter began her dance classes over the summer. Danceology offers a free class if you'd like to try it out. We tried out Ballet/Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. My daughter liked the Ballet/Tap Combo and Jazz classes best. I believe she appreciated the 'principessa' theme more because the teachers use roses, tiaras and other 'girlie' stuff as props in these classes. However, as a Mommy, I really enjoyed watching the kids do hip hop to "Who let the dogs out?." We also opted to join the Family Club. So far, we participated in the Kid's Dance/Pizza Party (parents nite-out), and are looking forward to the Father/Daughter Halloween Dance. They sponsor wonderful and numerous activities throughout the year. The dance teachers are darling. Very kind and sweet to the toddlers. We love Ms. Jenny and Ms. Julia. I've heard great things about all the teachers, though. Classes are offered from age 2 - adult, approximately from 9 am - 9 pm Monday - Friday (with reduced hours on Saturday and closed on Sundays). So there's something for anyone willing to risk dancing in front of others (NOT ME!). It's a very comfy place for parents to hang out. I watch my daughter from the lounge area. Lotsa tables, chairs and such. There's even a snack bar for organic, fresh food and a starbucks coffee machine. Niiiiice touch! I've also really enjoyed the camaraderie with the other parents. It's a nice and supportive lil' social atmosphere. What I'm really looking forward to is the Winter Performance. My daughter will perform on stage for her first time. Ohhhhhh, I really am excited. Although, I hope not to be perceived as one of 'those' stage moms! Last but not least ... there's a kewl video on the web site that actually says much more than I did and gives visuals. You can get an even better feel for this dance school. Oh, and Danceology is worth the drive from anywhere in San Diego!!! read more

Our experience was so horrible, I felt the need to let others know. This review does not come from a 'one time' experience it comes from after about a full month of attempting to give this school a chance. My daughter had some previous experience in ballet. Immediately, they placed her in the wrong class. Afterwards, they told us she was not good enough for that class but perhaps this class at this other time would be perfect. We came back the next week to try the second recommended class, only to be told AFTER the practice that this class was closed, and she'd have to go to the next class available. The following week, THIRD time trying a new class, my daughter goes to the next class they recommended. At this point I'm very very frustrated. Afterwards, the teacher says she needs private lessons to catch up to the class, But then says there are no rooms available for lessons. After about 2 weeks of attending this class, the teacher says my daughter needs to find ANOTHER class because this one is just not right for her either, and that she should be in the other class that's closed. This place is just ridiculous. My daughter was so discouraged. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Try another dance school there are so many better ones out there! read more

I am leaving this studio 5 stars although an accurate review would be 4.5. Will leave a pro and con list. My daughter danced here a few years ago and review is late but I'm reviewing all of her dance studies she attended as accurately as I can. Pros - Best training in the area Most classes available ( unlimited worth it) Original choreography at competitions. (Studio owner and teachers pride themselves on it) Training will provide a base and start for anyone wanting to dance professionally. Clean facility with food for purchase available as well as hand sanitizing stations. Kept floors and studio immaculate which we all know helps protect kids in cold and flu season. Cons Can feel impersonal due to the large number of students Some of the teachers can improve delivery of critique. At the time levels were discussed in front of students in some classes which I don't feel professional. Maybe that has changed. Daughter was happy taking technique there after years competing and leaving another studio because bad experience she was done with competition world. I think she would have got more attention/respect from teachers if she was on the team. She left for 2 months to film two movies and was dropped a while level that she was in because she wasn't there and it was done in front of class. I don't see how she could have drastically lost a whole level in that time and daughter didn't feel comfortable dancing with girls 3 years younger so we left studio. The same teachers had taught her for two years, in same level. The Studio owner was very professional and training was amazing, Daughters technique drastically improved while dancing at that studio. Daughter also bought original choreography from Nick to take to Cabaret for a cause in New York. She was featured in broadway world for this dance. I have all faith that Nick will not give this song, Choreo and costume to another dancer throughout his career and if you read my other reviews you will know that is important to us. read more

Danceology has been an AMAZING place for my daughter. We have been here for 7 years. From day one with our evaluation from Ms. Julia and Ms Elena my kid has thrived and grown as a dancer and also as a person. She has been given tools that she will take with her through her life. Danceology has never been a place focused on "the win" but on growth and artistry. Niki (the owner/director) has worked hard keeping her studio top notch with out losing her small studio feel.. She brings the best in the industry and provides opportunities for ALL levels. She expects hard work and dedication as does the staff she hires. She has the BEST teachers in southern California working right here in 4S Ranch. The ballet, contemporary and tap programs are outstanding. The kids here enjoy jazz and Musical theater as well. The place is well rounded and I love being apart of my DPC family. Whether you have a tiny tot, mini or more advanced dancer you will not be disappointed with calling Danceology your home studio. read more

We love Danceology! My daughter has been dancing at this studio since she was 2 years old! She is now 9 years old. She danced on the competitive Divas team and is now entering her first year in the Danceology Performance Company. We love the teachers and the other dance families here. It is a friendly environment that encourages the students to work hard and do their best always. My daughter has learned various dance styles: ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip hop, acro and ballroom and loves them all! She has been a part of the Nutcracker performance, recitals, and participated in competitions and conventions with her dance team and as a soloist. This is a top-notch dance studio that brings in amazing guest teachers, giving the kids a really special learning experience. We look forward to another fun year of dance at Danceology! read more

We hosted our child's birthday party and Danceology and could not have been more impressed. They rates are reasonable for 2 hour party . We went with the rate for over 15 kids . The staff helped us set up as we were running a little late and guests were starting to arrive. The dance instructor was kind and both new and seasoned dancers enjoyed the short class. They put up a short performance for the parents after about 45 minutes of training . There was also some time for dance themed games after cake and food. Our birthday girl said this was the "best birthday party ever" and that is high praise from a seven year old. I particularly liked the fact that the staff we're accommodating of all needs - cold storage for the cake , small siblings running into the studio , chaos during the food and drink etc. Never once did they seem impatient or rude. This was our first time hosting a party at a venue other than our house and on the whole it was really a breeze. They also give little gift bags to take home for the guests with a coupon for a week of free classes which we have not yet used. I cannot comment on their classes outside of the birthday party but I can highly recommend Danceology for your next birthday party for any aspiring ballerinas! read more

My daughter has been going to Danceology for two years now and although we love her teacher, Miss Jackie, we will no longer be going there. The price for classes is too much, and the Winter Showcase has cost us about $300 each year to have our daughter dance on the stage for a little over a minute. The costume fees are ridiculously high, considering the costumes are not fit to the kids so alterations are needed which costs even more. There is a registration fee for the dance shows and ticket fees of $17 each, again, for 1 minute worth of dancing. The most maddening part for my family and I this year, at the Winter Showcase, was that my husband was not allowed to take photos of our daughter and repeated interruptions during the show were made for no audience members to photograph or videotape their children. My husband is a photographer and had his telephoto lens set up in the back of the theater, not bothering anyone and when he was asked to take his camera down, he asked if there was a professional photographer taking pictures of the show. They said no but they were not allowing any one else to take pictures either. Three women approached my husband and had no real answers to why he wasn't allowed to take photos in the back of the theater. They also said that taking no photos or videography was in all of the literature and yet, it was nowhere in the program, theater foyer, or registration desks. When our daughter's dance came up, one of the ladies, rudely stood near us to make sure we didn't take pictures with our phones and yet I counted at least 16 other people with their phones out "breaking the policy." When flashes are not involved and people simply take quiet shots with their phones or cameras and do not obstruct any view or make any disruptions for others, it's absurd to pay that much money for a 1 minute dance with your child and not be able to get a photo. The saddest part is that we have paid good money for the "professional DVD" and it's awful quality where the lights obscure the dancers faces and there is no attempt to zoom in on the dancers. We will not be investing our time or $ into Danceology again. read more

1. DPAC wants you to be a part of their family, if they think you're at the level they want. 2. They welcome you, if they think you're at the level they want. 3. My daughter loved to dance, before DPC. Then she lost her passion after going here for just a year. It has taken her 3 years to find it again. 4. DPC offers amazing master instructors that come in from LA and conventions. But again, if you don't go there, they don't know what level you are and they give you a hard time when you're trying to sign your kid up for the master class. It is insulting. No other studio will question your dancer's level when you sign them up for a master class-trust me! 5. As a business owner, Niki should really find why a customer is leaving. It might actually help her to find out people leave. 6. Because of the lack of confidence that DPC imbedded in my daughter, I now can't get her take any of those amazing master classes at DPC. Bottom line is, this may be the right studio for you if you're in interested in a big, industrial, competition studio that clearly has their favorites and will only welcome who they feel is worthy. This may not be the right place for you if you want a smaller, family studio who cares more about your dancer and the person they are helping to mold and who simply wants to perpetuate the art of dance. read more

What poor costumer service. I called this morning and asked if I can sign my daughter up for summer camp. Living social had a special for a weekly camp and I asked specifically if they can honor the same price although it sold out. The front desk lady asked her manager Haley and said she would. I said I will come in person to finalize it today. I brought my daughter and my 1 yr old. The lady in the front asked Haley the same manager and said she can't. Y'all know ladies how hard it is to bring your 1 yr old and 3 yr old anywhere. She made me go over there to get treated that way. No thanks Danceology u may NOT have my business. This is a powerhouse of a dance school. Having 3 children in dance in the past 10+years, and dance competition for over 6 years, I can tell you that Danceology simply knows how it's done. This is our first year with the studio come May, and my children have never been so happy and enthusiastic and driven about dance! Simply put: the staff is professional, courteous and kind, the teachers are some of the best in the county who are inspirational and passionate in their expertise, the director who has a strong dance and business background knows both arts well and runs a solid performing arts campus, which shows clearly through the staff and thus the students. The proof is evident not only in the sentiment of the students and the families who support the school but in all the prestigious awards and achievements they earn year after year! Most importantly, I should say that we were content with our old dance school for 10 years and have peeked in to try 2-3 other schools along the way but nothing comes close to the love and passion we have come to experience in Danceology. The families and children share a strong bond and common desire: to foster the art of dance in a nurturing challenging and inspiring environment. I could go on but the fantastic list goes on each day we are here. We are grateful and blessed and so will each family who chooses to join the team! read more

My daughter came to Danceology wanting to learn to dance, and she has been thriving under the dance teachers instruction here at this wonderful studio! She loves dancing, adores her dance teachers, and has made some really great friends in the process. She can't wait to go to dance every day! The environment is clean and friendly, and you can tell the dance teachers care and are passionate about dance. Can you find a "cheaper" studio in the area? Sure. But in my opinion, you get what you pay for. If you think your child deserves the best, then Danceology is the right choice. I am so thrilled about choosing Danceology as my daughters dance studio. THx for your review Jared. My day that was disfigured by Ms. Jenny was somewhat restored by your review. I feel better knowing that I was not somehow responsible for her bad attitude. My little one tried out a class and Ms. Jenny did as much as she could to make us feel unwelcome. Her apathy/rudeness was glaring! There was no "welcome to class", No introductions at the beginning, no attempt to include my child, call her by name etc. This was all the more obvious to me because I go to about 5-6 different institutions for the other classes I take my 2 kids to. The overwhelming sense a parent gets in the nice places is genuine warmth. A new child always gets a little TLC to make them feel welcome and feel part of the group. Is the child not already having a tough time trying out something new? Make it harder on them? Ouch! Try Kindness. I also tried to put myself in the teacher's shoes. Don't u think that if u had a new kid in your class, you would say a special hello and introduce them to the rest of the class? I know I would! Possible solutions: Give a monetary incentive to teachers dependent on number of kids in class in addition to base salary. This might bring on some smiles and warmth if nothing else will. Try sending employees to a conference/seminar on good customer service. They may not understand how much their attitudes reflect on the institution. I brought my little niece here for the first time. She did a class Miss Julia who loved on her and made her feel like she could be the best dancer ever. They have a great mix of technique, choreography and fun! Everyone must try a class with miss Julia. Her personality lights up a room. read more

My daughter has been training with Danceology since she was 4 years old. She is now 15 and has loved the past 11 years of experience learning and growing from the qualified teachers and her peers there. Danceology has become a second family and a second home for her and she thrives in the program, both locally and nationally. I came to the decision to quit going to Danceology a while ago, as I was not improving at all due to the utter lack of corrections and focus given to each individual student. I noticed that my technique had actually DETERIORATED at Danceology. Well what a waste of money that was! (A LOT of money, this place is expensive). It's clear the class sizes are too large for any sort of individualized attention, or care for the students. Unless of course you're at the top of the class with flawless technique, maybe. Anyway, I've now found a studio with staff that actually say HI TO ME, introduce themselves to me, and make me feel welcome. I've started to improve once again as I am actually receiving personal corrections, and get this--it's cheaper too. Danceology is not all it's cracked up to be! read more

We have only been going here for a few months and so far so good. My daughter is there 2 hours a week so nothing crazy but she seems to love it and her teacher is patient and great for her age group (5). I could see how it could get a bit intense since there are some serious dance parents in there that are putting in some crazy hours but overall the studio is nice, lots of option for class times and the instructors seem on point. read more
