PDC…read moremanages the rare feat of doing two things incredibly well; it is both a very warm, welcoming, friendly, well run and well organized studio and also an incredible teaching facility for dance. Kay and the faculty are very supportive and attentive to all the kids, regardless of their level. They keep a careful eye on who needs what kind of work and suggest classes accordingly. It's remarkable how well they know each kid, and everything they are dealing with both in and out of dance. They also enforce a policy of all the kids being nice to each other. Everyone applauds for everyone else, everyone thanks the teacher at the end of each class, everyone works hard and is supportive of each other. The studio is growing along with my daughters, so that there are always challenging classes to take and interesting things to learn. They have been given wonderful opportunities not just to perform and to compete, but also to do things like dance at local cultural festivals and for seniors in a care facility. The studio is also very respectful of family time and homework time, and many of their dancers are also honors students in school. My daughters have learned not just how to dance, but how to manage their time, how to be responsible, and how to support and nurture others. If you are considering dance classes here -- you will love it. Come join the Pirouette Dance Company family!

We need a Pete Buttigieg over them to exact fairness. I know that this is probably a management problem, but it is a sad state when poor management overshadows a cultural gem for our community.

The teachers make the class so much fun for the kids and my daughter left class singing, "I love tutu school! I love tutu school! I love tutu school!" They even provide diapers and a changing table in the bathrooms for the younger students. They sell tutus and leotards and other adorable clothes. They also have tons of ballet themed books on shelves as well as toys to keep kids busy before or after class starts/for siblings who are waiting. Also, the instructors seem to always provide a 5 minute grace period to allow for parents to make it to class a few minutes late. They don't start immediately which is very considerate for parents of young children. I highly recommend tutu school to anyone who is unsure or on the fence. They were absolutely above and beyond/ exceeded my expectations. For reference, my daughter has also tried daisy dance and twinkle tots (different ballet schools) and tutu school was hands down the best option by far.

From the moment I walked into the studio and asked about the program i got such a warm feeling. It felt like they genuinely cared about every student and knew the families. I later found out she taught preschool for 14 years so I feel my daughter is in great hands. She makes it fun each week. They really learn too. "Mr. David" (office manager) greets everyone with a smile as if he is welcoming us to his home every week. He has been more than accommodating with tuition dues and flexible. Thank you David for being such a great person and caring about our kids and the families! Thank you Dance Dynamics.

My daughter has been dancing at Barriskill for the past few years, and over this time, it has…read morebecome apparent to me that the studio owner and the instructors employ a philosophy of instruction that I have to think is rare in this industry. The classes and productions are inclusive of any dancer that is interested in participating, even those who don't take classes at the studio. Dancers of all sizes and shapes are welcome and are all treated in the same respectful way. As the mom of a pre-teenage girl whose body image is still in development, this is a crucial component for me. Secondly, the instructors are personable, approachable, and highly talented, and interested the dancers' development. The instructor who manages the jazz, tap, and musical theater programs provides the choreography for the productions, and the results are a classic, skilled and enthusiastic display of talent. She does not have to rely solely on trendy gimmicks or inappropriate dances to design fantastic pieces, yet the productions and recital dancers stay current with what progressive dancers do. Finally, the owner is flexible, knowledgeable, and professional, and makes sure each dancer is getting individual attention when it is necessary. For any parent looking for a dance school, I would stop by the studio and talk to him. He will let you try a class or two for free to see if your kiddo likes it, and there is so much going on there you are bound to find a place.

Weight and controlling weight was frequently discussed and my child was 8 years old. When our child made a friend, the teacher whispered to the other child who then ignored our child. We attempted to have a conversation with the owner about the bullying teacher and each time we were sent back to communication with the problematic teacher. The owner blatantly ignored any and all messages we sent to her. When we pulled our child, we went to another school and our child jumped forward in technique by years after only a couple of lessons. And we were told that the techniques our child learned would lead to injuries. I would avoid this place like the plague. There are much, much better places for youth to learn dance.
