Yes, everything you've heard is true: it's in a strip mall. There's nowhere to sit inside. The food is incredibly good. Like, it's good enough that you *will* contemplate eating your order in your car before heading home. It's well worth the drive and it will live up to everything you've heard/read. It will. You absolutely need to patronize it. TdG had been on my radar for a minute but I'm not often in Hermitage* and I couldn't justify driving out of town for food when I have other options closer by. BUT I had to find out if the food was *just* that good. I'd read rave after rave. It's just pasta. Can it be that great? So, on a chilly late fall Saturday night I decided I needed to find out. I'd done my research so I knew the place was small. I knew I might need to play human tetris in the waiting area on a cold day. I knew what to order. But I also 'knew' that the 'say Yelp' phrase would offer a discount. The phrase was uttered but no discount came my way (which is the reason for the four stars instead of five). Lack of discount aside, everyone with whom I interacted was very polite and welcoming even despite the place being a madhouse of activity and orders. My food was ready in an appropriate amount of time and the bag had adequate weight/heft. The pleasant aroma filled the cold air as I walked to my car and surrounded me all the way home. I came home, poured a glass of wine, plated my food and... wow. This was/is phenomenal. I ordered the 4 cheese gnocchi and, without a doubt, one of the best gnocchi dishes I have had in life (and I used to be paid to eat**). I think I uttered the word 'perfect' between forkfuls. Each 'perfect' pillowy dumpling was lathered in a combo of mozzarella, asiago, gorgonzola, and pecorino. That alone would have been delicious but woven into the dish were ribbons of crispy prosciutto. Other.Worldy. It's getting cold. Sweater weather is here. Bathing suit season is months away. I think it's rather funny that everyone and their mom continues to make the location of the place seem scary. In short, writing that it is in a low-income area. And to those people, I ask, "Have you ever been to Antioch?" No, this place isn't scary or in a rough neighborhood. It's definitely not Brentwood, but it's safe to say you can leave your pitchforks and torches at home. It is, for lack of better words, located in a hole in the wall of a micro-tiny strip mall, next to a sports bar. Inside, it is sweet and cozy. In this cozy place, you will find the friendliest of staff members. To have an entire staff give their customers the utmost respect is one of the most challenging tasks of any business owner. So the fact that this owner was able to achieve such a difficult task is something to applaud. There is no board with an entire menu, but there are small pamphlets off to the side with the menu. I ordered the pepperoni pizza along with the meatballs as an appetizer. My friend and I sat outside, where they have outdoor seating and tables. That, I have to say, is the only downside to this place. The seating. No indoor seating, and with how ever-changing Middle Tennessee's weather is, you might have to drive it home or eat it in the car. But with humidity changing texture in a box or to-go box, it might take the freshness away from the experience. After the food was brought out to us, which is a plus and highly appreciated, we were ready to eat. I did have to run inside to grab some packets of crushed red pepper. You must ask for it, which, without hesitation, the man minding the wood stove gladly grabbed for me. Separating a slice of pizza from the others was a sight to see. What you typically want to see separating pizza. The ooey gooey cheese in entanglement. I took a bite and fell in love with the freshness. Every ingredient is fresh, and you don't feel that awful sloth feeling that a Pizza Hut pizza would leave you with. The pepperoni was to die for. Although the meatballs had a flavor that I wasn't too happy with, I knew they were good, even if my flavor profile didn't desire it much. The meatballs were incredibly soft, and the sauce they bathed in, with a sprinkle of ricotta cheese, was divine. My friend happily downed the entire box they sat in. We were disappointed, I must say after reading the prior reviews. First thing, I don't like sitting outside in a parking lot (under canopy), and in the rain. Seats were all wet and wind blowing the sides into us. Pizza was good, and you can tell the ingredients were good quality. The chew in the crust was great but too much cornmeal I guess? Also it was too thin for me and floppy. Every first bite of each slice, the cheese slid off and all I had was dough after that. Didn't like this at all. The location. Meh. The seating was all outside in a mosquito infested corner of the parking lot close to the garbage containers for the whole strip. Gross! However, the food was incredibly delicious, and the service was very good. We ordered pizza, a calzone, a meatball sandwich, salad and two different gnocchi dishes. The shrimp in mine was perfectly cooked and worked beautifully with the tender gnocchi and amazing sauce. Everyone else enjoyed their choices. Pizza is hands down 5 s! Authentic and flavorful, classic and simple, this pizza stands up. We had the soppressata pie, and the pesto gnocchi dish. The gnocchi is gummy. I think it suffered from sitting on the counter while our pizza was being made. The sauce was very tasty, but I will think twice about ordering pasta there since this is primarily take out with a few tables outside. It was too chilly to eat there the night we visited. We also had the cannoli. Good, but the shell suffers from being prefilled. A thin layer of chocolate on the inside of the shell would fix that right up. This place is absolutely FANTASTIC! I went to both locations- equally delicious. I love the Hermitage location because it is there that I had the pleased meeting the family- Giovanna, her mamma and her brother. They stopped cooking and chatted with me until I felt like la familia. Must try: the eggplant parm is some of the best we ever had! The arancini balls are to die for ! I really enjoyed this pizza! It reminded me of the pizza I had while I was in southern Italy. One signature piece is how light and fluffy the crust is. It's not too dense and has a good amount of bubbles. This was something I really appreciated about the pizza in Italy. We ordered two pizzas, the Diavolo and Norma which were pepperoni and eggplant respectively. The pepperoni tasted like salami and were extremely flavorful. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and crispy. My only complaint was they listed ricotta as an ingredient in the Norma pizza and I didn't taste it as much as I would have liked. Lastly I appreciated their heated out door seating area and that they allow dogs, but I was a bit confused by the service. They operate as a takeout place which is totally cool, but the fact they had tables made me feel like they'd offer beverages or water to customers. We kept it simple & ordered two Margherita pizzas over the phone, and they were ready within 15 minutes. Directly beside the take-out only restaurant they've set up several picnic tables, some even tented; a nice effort considering there is no indoor seating. Then we dug in ! Between three people, we polished off two entire pizzas with ease. Every aspect of the pie was perfectly executed, but the crust was the shining star - some of the most flavorful I've ever had. The simplicity of the pizza is what I really admire. The light application of sauce and cheese allows every ingredient to sing: a note a basil here, a note of acid there, all supported by the strong backing vocals of the crust. First heard of this restaurant three years ago. Because of the long distance drive from our house south of Nashville we hadn't made it out to visit. Finally decided to make the truck and it was worth it. We went with the expectation that we would have to order to go and sit outside in their picnic tables. Thankfully, the rain had stopped by time we sat down to eat. The menu had a great variety of pasta's pizzas and salads. We ordered several pizzas and two different pastas. The cream gnocchi was delicious. The pizzas were great too. The crust is especially tasty. The staff making the food are from Italy and are speaking Italian while they're making it. I we are ever in northeast Nashville again we will definitely stop by and order some Italian food. Great little pizza place. It's pretty much to-go only. They do have an outside eating area if you wish. I ordered the Vulcano salad, side of Burrata, and a Capricciosa pizza. The salad was basic with a few added ingredients. Red onions, cucumbers, Kalamata olives, and capers. I had them hold the tomatoes. But the real hero of this salad is their house dressing. It was AMAZING!!! I ordered the large which was the size of a standard take out box. Probably big enough for 2 people. But I ate it all anyway LOL. The side of Burrata was delicious! Burrata is one of my favorite cheeses. It was simply just the ball of cheese and I ate it like that. I should have added it to my salad. Next time I'll do that for sure. For my pizza I ordered the Capricciosa. It was a little different than I am used to. The prosciutto had more of a ham taste and texture. But overall the pizza was very good and I would certainly order it again. The crust was perfect for me. A little chewy while crisp and burnt flakes here and there. Absolutely how I think a pizza should be cooked. Wood-fired oven as well. Pizza shouldn't be cooked any other way!!! The staff was friendly and worked fast. We found it folks! The best pizza in Nashville BY FAR! Not even close. I've been searching for so long. I've heard about Tutti Da Gio for a while now but never got the opportunity to make it over there. After trying many pizza spots in Nashville this is hands down my favorite. This is not a jersey/NY slice but it's more authentic style pizza you would get over in Italy. We were just in Sicily/Italy last month and find the pizza we got here was almost identical. Let me start this review by saying I visited Titti Da Gio on a rainy day and wanted to get off the interstate. I've been wanting to try the Hermitage location (closest to my home) and I thought this would be the perfect day for it. However, it was not. There is no inside seating at all. All seats are outside with some under a canopy tent. Doesn't make good for seating on a rainy day. The pros to my experience is that the customer service was excellent and quick! I don't eat pork so I was advised to order Capricciosa Pizza and add any additional veggies that I would like. The sauce on this pizza was amazing! The crust's chewiness was so reminiscent of Italy. In Sicily, I remember the crust's bottom being firmer and we ate our pizza with a fork and knife. This pizza spot is tucked away at the very end of a small parking lot, next-door to a smoky country dive bar. All the pizza here is woodfired and made-to-order. I highly suggest calling in your order or scheduling it ahead of time for pick up. Don't just show up and order because it could take a while. The owner and her son, who make a majority of the food here, are originally from Sicily and you can taste the authenticity. We snacked on two pizzas, arancinis, and three desserts to round out the meal. The margherita pizza and the four cheese pizza were incredible! Nicely toasted on the bottom and a light bubbly crust. Each bite of the margherita pizza blasted my taste buds with fresh herbaceous basil and spicy sausage. The cheese pizza was just as good surprisingly not overly cheesy and really enjoyed the briney olives paired with the pie. My only complaint would be to add more olives, please! You can't lose with their arancini! These are fried rice balls filled with a meaty red sauce. Pure fried bliss! My wife and I both loved the deserts, especially in creampuffs. Wow. This place lives up to the hype. I was checkin Instagram around 10:30 while waiting to do some business down in Lavergne when I saw Yelp Nashville's post about "pizza day" & featuring Tutti Da Gio as one of the top pizza places in the COUNTRY for 2023. I was already hungry & contemplating a boring efficient lunch back home or stopping somewhere new when coming back through the city around noon, so I decided to go to Tutti Da Gio. Tutti opened may 2022 & I'm shocked I hadn't caught wind of it considering it is in a location right off 40E at the old hickory exit between two gas stations that I drive by somewhat frequently. It is at the end of a strip of stores next to the local shooters lounge bar. Definitely a low key location is where you'll find this gem. Inside there is enough standing room for a handful of people to place orders & wait for their order to be served up, but there is no seating inside. Not a huge deal because they have some covered tables outside & the weather was perfect today for an outside lunch. When I went arrived at 11:34 I was the only person eating there so it was quiet. The staff were very nice & chatted with me while I waited for my Norma pizza and arancini. They told me about how well they have been received since opening & what they really liked on the menu. They also talked me into grabbing some chocolate puff pastries to go for my wife. More on that next. The pizza was ready in probably less than 10 mins. I quickly moved outside & opened it up to snap a pic before digging in. I went with the Norma (eggplant, mozzarella,ricotta, red sauce) which was highly spoke of on the Yelp & I don't recall ever having eggplant & ricotta on a traditional style pizza so I was curious. It was fabulous, the crust was perfetto & the toppings were simple, delicate, & yet combined for an explosion of flavor. I ate half & saved the rest for later & to share with my wife. The Arancini was very good as well but overshadowed by the pizza. The chocolate cream puffs were a delight & a must for the chocolate lover. Cream puff pastry rolled in a Nutella mousse, with sprinkled chocolate shavings on top. It was like eating a light airy chocolate ice cream donut hole is the best i can describe it. Now that I know about this place & it's only a quick 20 min drive across town I'll be back. It's tough to find great traditional pizza in this town & aside from Bella Napoli this place has the goods. We needed to grab some dinner on our way out of town (headed to Pigeon Forge from the Nashville airport) and had this pizza place recommended to us by a lady on the plane. I'm so grateful for her recommendation. This place is owned and run by a family from Sicily, Italy and their pizza is superb! Our group of 5 ladies split 2 pizzas and 2 salads. The salads were quite large and we could have prob just gotten one. We got the pizza margherita (classic and so well executed- chef's kiss) and the Parma- also excellent. I am going to rate Tutti da Gio on what it is rather than group it in with Italian restaurants. What it is, put simply, is an Italian pick up spot for pasta, pizza, and a few other items. So I am primarily focusing on the food. Coming into the place, it looks a bit more like a small convenience store with a big pizza oven behind the counter. There are racks for the delivery drivers, like Uber Eats, who come in to pick up and drive to someone ordering food from their couch. As I waited for my meal, there was a fairly steady queue going in and out. To be transparent, I was offered a great deal on my meal as a part of Yelp Elite, but I did not let this influence my rating (although I did click 4, then 5, then 4, a few times before deciding). But, I have also heard great things from the Foodies of Nashville Facebook group along with recommendations of foodie friends on the east side of the city, so the price was not a reason to go here, but an incentive to go here now. See pix: I had the daviola pizza (spicy pepperoni), an Arincini (ragu filled arborio rice ball - really an egg - breaded and deep fried), and two desserts: tiramisu and Bianco e Nero (white & black - which is a puff balled covered with chocolate cream/pudding and some cocoa). My thoughts? The pepperoni does have a hint of spice, but if you are thinking serious pepper, you won't find it here. The cheese is higher end than what you find in lower end pizza joints and has a nice spring to it, as well as a great flavor. The wood fired oven adds a bit of smokiness which works very well with this combo. I am curious how other pizzas are, but I have always been a fan of a good wood fired pizza. The Arincini is something I have never tried before, so I was excited. The ragu in the middle is very delicate. The rice is perfectly cooked (meaning for rice, not risotto - :D ) and it is lightly deep fried in a hot deep fryer. If you get a meal here, I would add one on. The desserts were heavenly. The Tiramisu is very Italian style, so lighter on sugar than Ameri-Italian spots. The coffee soaking the lady fingers adds a wonderful flavor that complements the fingers and topping. The Bianco e Nero was my favorite, as I love puff balls. The topping was like pudding, but not like the cheap box stuff. Two thumbs up from both me and my friend. It was cold, so I did not get to experience the "eat in" area, but had no intention anyway, as there are plenty of breweries that allow outside food (of course beer goes good with pizza). I can imagine it as an option for someone who does not have another spot to go, but it is definitely seasonal. Try again? Definitely. You must order early in the day, especially on weekends, because they run out of menu items as everything is made fresh to order. One of our favorites is the Pasta with Salmon but everything I've ever tried is amazing including desserts. This is take-out only. The best Italian food I've had in Nashville (or possibly ever)! Went around lunchtime on a Saturday and it was about a 40 min wait for food. There's a little bit of outdoor seating that was full by the time we got there, so we got our food to go. The owner is Sicilian and makes a lot of the menu items in-house. We got the margherita pizza and spaghetti with meatballs. Both were amazing. The tomato sauce is perfectly tart but not too acidic, the crust is thin and chewy, the spaghetti noodles were thick and al dente, and the meatballs were clearly homemade with evidence of crumbs in its texture. Just an FYI...there is no inside seating but they do have a mini patio outside with four tables and umbrellas. To say this place is friendly and welcoming would be an understatement. When I walked in I met Dalia at the register, she is such a pleasure to talk with. Then I met Vincenzo (Giovanna's son) creating pizzas in a wood fired dome oven. I also meet the owner Giovanna who creates all of the wonderful pasta dishes, and then I got to talk food with her husband Jarod. There were a few other folks who welcomed me, apologies for not remembering everyone's name but it was great meeting everyone. A few things make this place remarkable...they make their own pasta from scratch, Vincenzo comes in early and bakes the bread for the day in their brick oven, and most of the folks in this place speak Italian, and also speak English with beautiful Italian accents!!! I ordered the Margherita (Cheese and Basil) pizza and watched Vincenzo turn it in the brick oven while Giovanna worked on my "to go" order of Pasta al Sugo Con Polpette. The pizza was exceptional with a crispy crust (love the brick oven singe) and the Fior di latte mozzarella (yes...this is a different type of mozzarella) really created a balance between the crusty pie and the more delicate mozzarella. The pies here are 12" and are a great size for a meal. I TRIED to only sample the pasta dish, but the sample ended up being two meatballs and half the pasta by the time I was done. Italian dishes become very special when fresh, home-made pasta is used and this was no exception. The sauce was light, a great tomato flavor, slightly sweet, and clung to the pasta perfectly. LOVED the meatballs...great mix or meats and seasonings and I know these would be awesome on a meatball grinder too! This is a special place made so by the people who work here and the incredible food they serve. They are well worth a drive to enjoy their Italian creations...and you will leave with a smile from the wonderful spirit here. read more
