After only a short period of tutoring (via Skype!!!) there was a marked turn around in our son's math performance. His final AND final grade jumped two marks. That's right... Two grades!!!! The coordinator was great completing an assessment of his levels of performance, reviewed plans from his teacher and identified someone suitable to his personality. I never expected such progress within that window of time. The price is more than reasonable based on what you receive... A continuous communication loop, top notch tutors, online reports, progress monitoring and current technology. Although we elected the Skype sessions based on our schedules, in-person is available. I forgot to mention group sessions online where you can get homework assistance on any subject matter. They also proof papers. One stop shopping in the comfort of your home. If you need a service and can carve out the resources for A+... Do it! Will we use them again? Yes, yes and yes! I always use yelp for things I'm searching for but have never written a review. A+ was that important.

I signed her up for the program and Mr. Bromley and the tutors started working with her. They were very patient with her and never gave up on her. They guided her, counseled her, reviewed essays, tutored in whatever subject she needed. I am happy to report that she would be graduating on Thursday. This program is an excellent resource for all students. I would recommend it to all my friends because I have seen the awesome results with my daughter being part of the A+ club. Thank you to the A+ club!! Keep up the excellent work! Best, RH.

I have known Kristin for a number of years and have worked with her company, Linder Educational…read moreCoaching, to prepare for the ACT, as well as to improve my writing composition and general academic study skills. Kristin's team possesses a broad range of knowledge, encompassing all academic subjects, as well as training and advice pertaining to strong work ethic cultivation and study skill improvement. As a tutor, Kristin is professional, reliable, and understanding. She makes a point to get to know students on an individual basis so as to tailor the curriculum to the specific needs of the student. She does her job, does not get rattled, and is a positive and inspirational influence on students. In all of my experience with her, Kristin has been helpful, attentive, and courteous. She exudes an infectious "can do" attitude that played a role in my confidence-building, leading to better performance in academics, standardized tests, and on job applications. I'm now a student and undergraduate research fellow at Virginia Tech, and I continue to use the study skills that Linder Educational Coaching originally showed me. I'm sure that without LEC's influence during my high school years, I would not be where I am now. From what I've seen in other tutoring companies, such skill and expertise is very rare, and so important. I recommend Kristin and her team without question.

What started in ninth grade as help with study skills, content refreshers and time management skills helped us all manage a difficult transition to high school. Later, the Linder team support included significant standardized test preparation, which led to marked increases in test scores. With this help, our son has gone from struggling academically to now being in a position of receiving multiple college acceptances -- some with significant financial scholarships as well as honors and fellowship possibilities. Kristin is terrific--smart, practical and caring. So is her entire team. We highly recommend!

We sent our daughter to CHMS for three years, and we'd do it again without hesitating…read more The education is excellent. She left reading and doing math at a level we couldn't have imagined for a five-year-old. What makes it work is that CHMS makes learning feel fun and intuitive rather than forced. Some of our most cherished memories of these years are of her coming home excited to show off something she'd written or a math puzzle she'd cracked. The administrators, teachers, and staff are friendly, accessible, and accountable. Communication is consistently clear, an app makes messaging simple, and our questions have always gotten thoughtful answers. When there's a bumped head or a similar incident, we hear about it promptly and in real detail. Not once in three years did we wonder whether our daughter was safe, whether her time was being spent well, or whether someone who cared about her was paying attention. The school also hosts back-to-school nights where parents meet one-on-one with their child's teacher, along with other chances to observe your child at work in the classroom -- a rare gift, and something we'll always be glad we got to see. The community events are lovely. The children put on a concert every winter and spring, and there's an annual pizza party and a trike-a-thon where the kids show off their cycling skills while raising money for a good cause. These are the occasions where we got to watch our daughter with her classmates and teachers and see how much she'd grown. CHMS is thoughtful about food, too. A monthly calendar lays out exactly what's being served each day, the meals are genuinely healthy, and lunch here meaningfully broadened the range of foods our daughter will try at home. CHMS has never been merely a place that watched our child during the workday. It's a caring educational community that helped her flourish, and one we've felt privileged to be part of. We'll miss it dearly as we head off to kindergarten this fall -- though we're thrilled at how ready she so clearly is for what comes next.

It is very rare that we as a family write a negative review for any institution but I felt is was…read moreimportant, especially since this is a school. We wanted to really like Mclean Montessori as a school, however the school has many points of failure. To name a few: 1- This is the ONLY private school in the area that requires a 3 year commitment, in which if you do not stay for the entire 3 years you lose your 1 month deposit for tuition. They say they do this because they believe in their curriculum, but it is quite the opposite. If you as a school have confidence in what you are teaching in the school and how you manage the school, then you would never have to require such a commitment. This is just an attempt to prevent parents from leaving. 2-This was our first year at MSM and we were very excited. We heard great things about their STEAM and technology program. However, the technology never panned out. They lost their technology teacher weeks before school started and never informed anyone (even after school had started). Upon me inquiring about why my child was not having technology, I was told they did not have a teacher. After several months (and per my recommendation) at a minimum they offered coding through some online platform only every other week for the kids.  Though, there was no actual technology teacher to help them with this. The rest of the time (during technology) the other half of the kids just sat there and read to themselves. 3-They had staff turnover and some of the new teachers were not good at communication at all! My child had previously attended a montessori school and her cursive writing was beautiful. After joining this school, her writing skills became terrible! When I mentioned this to the teacher, she indicated "most kids end up losing their cursive skills so it doesn't matter, " "She also stated that she could either focus on the material or the writing but couldn't do both." 4-Field trips (even Zoom field trips) were close to none. Many that they did have were planned by the room parents themselves. 5-Administration is awful!! They don't return emails. If you encounter any issues or have a question the administration will not email you back. 6- Just basic communication is lacking in the school! In today's day and age, when you go out of your way to pay for private school, basic communication is a must! There are so many other options in Fairfax county that I would not recommend this school at all.

The children do a combo of music, play time, arts and crafts, reading, etc. For a 2 year old who is not in daycare, it's really the best of both worlds - they are exposed to many activities before the typical start of preschool. My daughter brings home the sweetest projects - a cat in the hat hat for Dr. Seuss' birthday, springtime projects she made. The classes are small and the children are extremely well cared for. I'd highly recommend it to any families near the Falls Church area.

We had an au pair but I wanted…read moreto start to acclimate him to a classroom environment, so the 2 mornings a week was perfect for us. The school is in a quaint log cabin-style house in a residential neighborhood in downtown Falls Church. It is spacious and well lit and made of very nice old wood. Huge contrast to many of the dingy old church basements you usually see preschools/day cares. Every day my son came home with arts and crafts projects he did in school. They also did music, circle time, outdoor activities, etc. I know he was mentally and physically engaged because he came home totally exhausted and never had trouble napping (in contrast with other days when it was sometimes a battle!). I was and still am impressed with how much attention they pay to each of the kids (or maybe it was just mine?) When I was curious how things were going, I would often get a detailed writeup from Mrs. John about what my son did and how he felt and reacted - it was clear that she figured his personality out very quickly. She was also very accommodating of our food preferences (e.g. we're health nuts, so she stocked foods that she knew we would be comfortable with). Once he was 3.5, we transferred him to a 5 morning/week Montessori school and he acclimated perfectly and he loves that too, but I don't feel he gets quite the level of individualized attention that he got at OTRT, which is really a hidden gem.
