We have used this service for the last two and half years and cannot tell you how much we have benefited from the support of the coaches that have worked with our son. His confidence has improved with his writing, learning how to organize his thoughts better when tackling history and English Language Arts assignments. He's doing more than just the bare minimum, including more descriptive language and details. He's proactively creating outlines while reading to set himself up for success when trying to remember details later for questions or discussions. He's gotten better at self-advocacy, reaching out to teachers via email, when he's unsure of how to tackle an assignment or something isn't working correctly vs. just ignoring the issue. All things he wouldn't dream of doing on his own two years ago. Be aware that you are buying the methodology and material, but Kumon alone will not do miracles. You need to guide your kid every single day (at least for young kids) to make it successful.

I don't have to leave endless voice messages that go unanswered and every response is super timely. My kids were in Lavender and Ocean. They are the same age and I was nervous to separate them, but Ms. Christy (head of school) encouraged me that this was the right decision. Ms. Jharna and Ms. Michelle have fostered the growth of each child in a loving and attentive way. EVERY ONE of the staff there seem to genuinely care for the children. Academically, I believe the Montessori was worked best for my kids. I highly recommend this school to any parent.

He asked if he could go back to MSHR for first grade and just finished up a stellar year there. Our three year old spent three months crying everyday at drop off before she was finally old enough to head to MSHR. Stopped crying on day two. She loves Ms. Sara and the rest of the teachers. It's hard to leave your little ones in someone else's hands but MSHR makes it easy. Plus they have a giant playground and aren't afraid to use it!

We wanted to really like Mclean Montessori as a school, however the school has many points of failure. To name a few: 1- This is the ONLY private school in the area that requires a 3 year commitment, in which if you do not stay for the entire 3 years you lose your 1 month deposit for tuition. They say they do this because they believe in their curriculum, but it is quite the opposite. If you as a school have confidence in what you are teaching in the school and how you manage the school, then you would never have to require such a commitment. This is just an attempt to prevent parents from leaving. 2-This was our first year at MSM and we were very excited. We heard great things about their STEAM and technology program. However, the technology never panned out. They lost their technology teacher weeks before school started and never informed anyone (even after school had started). Upon me inquiring about why my child was not having technology, I was told they did not have a teacher. After several months (and per my recommendation) at a minimum they offered coding through some online platform only every other week for the kids.  Though, there was no actual technology teacher to help them with this. The rest of the time (during technology) the other half of the kids just sat there and read to themselves. 3-They had staff turnover and some of the new teachers were not good at communication at all! My child had previously attended a montessori school and her cursive writing was beautiful. After joining this school, her writing skills became terrible! When I mentioned this to the teacher, she indicated "most kids end up losing their cursive skills so it doesn't matter, " "She also stated that she could either focus on the material or the writing but couldn't do both." 4-Field trips (even Zoom field trips) were close to none. Many that they did have were planned by the room parents themselves. 5-Administration is awful!! They don't return emails. If you encounter any issues or have a question the administration will not email you back. 6- Just basic communication is lacking in the school! In today's day and age, when you go out of your way to pay for private school, basic communication is a must! There are so many other options in Fairfax county that I would not recommend this school at all.

We have been absolutely blown away with the professionalism and the amount of care and attention the staff give to each and every child in their care. Our daughter is a type one diabetic. Caring for her can be tricky at times. The staff was so welcoming and open to having our daughter start just a few days after we came for a tour of the facility and did not hesitate to have her teachers and administrators trained in caring for our daughter before she started. The staff has gone above and beyond for our daughter ever since the first day she was in their care. We have always felt very at ease and comfortable with her in their care as they look after her as one of their own, as they do with all children in their care.
