We golfed today with our 6 kids and 2 adults in two foursomes. We chose this course over the others we've been for today's fun because of the "good for kids" label on Yelp.
Jeryl was kind and helpful in the clubhouse. She talked about the wet grounds. We talked about being novice/beginners and she even walked out to the carts with us to help everyone get settled. While our second group was on hole 2, Ken was over on the side putting ropes everywhere due to the rain received the previous day. He kept looking at us with our two small, inexperienced children. You could tell he didn't like us on his course with a 10 and 11 year old.. Once we were finishing on hole 3, he yelled at us for being too slow and that we needed to be faster. He said you must finish this course in 2 hours. There was nothing in writing to say this nor did Jeryl tell us about this unwritten rule. We were holding no one back. We were even doing a scramble with our two littles so we didn't take too much time and we're watching for the twosome behind us as not to bother their golf game. We were finishing hole 4 at 50 minutes from tee off.
Our other foursome was 4 teenagers. He didn't like that they were beginner golfers and left two divets to the left of his tee box. The boys informed us when they turned the cart off the path in a circle (not fast) he immediately came at them and told them to get off the course. He proceeded to throw the minors bags on the ground and kick them out. They asked how to get to the parking lot and they thanked him. He proceeded to tell them "f you!" He had zero right to touch their things or talk to 14 and 15 year old boys like this. I see he has two boys and I know he would not want another adult treating his kids so poorly. While he tried to engage in discourse, the boys did not engage and simply asked how to get off the course. He continued to be rude and aggressive.
Ken was obviously having a bad day and didn't like our pace from the beginning. He kept yelling that at me when we asked him if he asked the boys nicely to not do what he wanted. He just said "we don't care about new people, we have 20,000 golfers a year. We don't need your money." Well, he didn't refund us that money he "doesn't need."
We do lots of activities with our children and have never been treated like this from a business. Buyer beware. We DO NOT recommend this course for people with children. I took video and pictures where he said they did this alleged damage and there was nothing remarkable and out of the ordinary for golfers on a wet course.
I wish I would have read the Google Reviews before today's adventures and I would have realized how much Ken hates families as there are numerous reviews similar to this. read more
