Code 22658 Section (e) (1) (2) states the person causing the removal of a vehicle parked on that property is liable for double the storage or towing charges whenever there has been a failure to comply with proper signage and is subject to a fine of $1,000. If your vehicle was illegally towed this weekend from Farmer's Market in HB, please contact me to join the lawsuit. Would give 5 stars for DTS staff customer service but had to knock it to 3 because they should have been more responsible in confirming signage that it was a good tow. We arrived at the exact SAME time as the tow truck like literally behind the truck , just BEFORE they pulled the car into the gate, but they refused to let us retrieve it. Even though we arrived before 5:00 p.m, they still charged us an after-hours fee. We ended up paying over $540--almost $600 to get our car back, even though it had been there for less than an hour. The charges felt completely unreasonable. To make things even worse, the employee who processed our payment , said this to my friends while she's pulling out her car , "she's not too smart huh " as if he was calling her stupid. That was extremely disrespectful and completely unprofessional. My friend was visibly upset and crying, and instead of showing any compassion, the employee told her that there was "no need to be angry." They showed absolutely no empathy or understanding for the situation. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. People don't know what someone else is going through or what their financial situation is. They don't know if those $600 were money you desperately needed for something else or if losing that amount completely throws off your monthly budget.
