when the irvine libraries split from the ocpl system, i ended up switching over to tustin since it's the closest location to me now. the location itself is really nice. it's in the civic center, so you've got the community center and police department right there, and there are a bunch of food and drink spots across the street if you want to grab something before or after. there's plenty of parking outside, but even then on busy days it can get full really fast. there are also bathrooms available but you need to ask the library for the code to access, as i believe it changes daily. they also have a security guard who stands by the door. inside, the library is super spacious, but it's not the quietest. i wouldn't really recommend it as a study or focus spot if that's what you're looking for since it can get pretty loud, especially with kids. there is a separate quiet room, but it seems more geared toward teens. i do wish the books were organized a little better. sometimes it feels like a maze trying to find something, especially not knowing if it'll be in teen/young adult or general fiction. i'm also not the biggest fan of how the manga is set up since it's split into two different areas and i'm not really sure why. that said, the staff has always been super friendly and helpful. i also love that they have a rotating table of themed recommendations. right now it's ren faire reads, but they've done things like blind date with a book for valentine's and other themed picks based on different time periods too. overall, it's a very nice facility with a wide selection of books, from new releases, manga, kids and teens books, etc. read more

For a public library, it's clean and lots of windows which makes it bright. There is plenty of parking. Great kids area if you have kids and want to hang out for a bit. There is also pcs for those of you that need to use internet. I feel safe and it's great to have. SYOY! read more

I really love libraries and when I found the Tustin Library, I couldn't wait to check it out. From all the reviews, it seemed like it could be a great spot to just have a nice place to do some reading. It's surprisingly a favorite space for the community because this place was packed with children, parents, seniors...just everyone. So with a lot of people there, at least when I came in on a weekend, it did feel slightly cramped and there weren't too many tables available. But luckily, I found one and pulled one of their books from the shelves and just enjoyed some reading time. They have a pretty good selection of books, including new releases and even books in different languages. Though, I do have to say that if you're looking for a very quiet library, this is *not* that kind of library. You will hear a lot of kids here, just doing their thing talking about their favorite books and their parents telling them to lower their voices. There's going to be some background noise here, most of the time. The restrooms are clean here. It's located on the right side, down the hall, when you first walk into the main doors. This review is for the Friends of the Bookstore. I recently called and asked if they had any books by a certain author. The response was that they have lots of books and to come in and look. There was no effort to try and see if they had any books by the author. This in my opinion is poor customer service! She could have easily gotten up out of her chair and walked over to the fiction section and checked. The books are arranged alphabetically so it wouldn't have been that difficult to find. I know these people are volunteers, but they still should be trained on having good customer service skills. Not everyone can just drive over and check whenever they want to. It's also a waste of energy and fuel to do so. From an environmental perspective it not beneficial. read more

We come to the Tustin Library often, usually before or after my son's soccer practice at Touch N Go. It's easy to find parking, and returning books is quick and simple. I came in to get a library card and check out a couple of books. I want to start reading more. I haven't been here for around 45 years. It sure has changed. I need to see what all they have in future visits. I'm reading biographies to start. I got a book about Johnny Cash and Bugsy Segal. To get a card, enter your information on the computer and the librarian will make you a card. The card is good at several libraries in the county. I really liked it here and may spend time on hot or rainy days reading. This place is cool. read more

Love this library! I just visited for the first time and the staff was so helpful and kind. It's very clean. There were a lot of people on their computers but still very quiet and respectful. Quiet room was full. I could tell tell people really like going here. They have clean restrooms inside as well if you're planning to stay a while. Panning was nearly full but we managed to find a spot. There was a little event going on outside too. Overall very happy with my experience and can't wait to go again soon. read more

This is the loudest library i have ever been in. Every time. I guess everyone forgot it's suppose to be a place for concentration.

I've been using a couple of libraries as rotating spots for me to come in and use the wifi and get some work done on the computer, since the internet connection at home is terrible. The library is large with lots of desks, each with power outlets. They only have 1 study room, but it can be booked in advance. There is a quite room with a few desks where I usually camp out and can get things done in peace and quite. read more

Review for printing experience only! Staff was helpful guiding me along since I came in just to print a shipping label but had lost my library card which they quickly helped me to replace. You can print black and white pages (15 cents each) simply by going into one of the many public computers. Afterwards, all you need to do is add funds to your library card and release each print job at the printer computer by scanning your card. Parking lot is huge but it can get a but packed in the afternoon! read more

I usually love bringing my kids to Tustin Library, but we recently had an upsetting experience in the children's section. My 5-year-old started to run, and I was just about to remind him to walk when a staff member suddenly yelled "Stop running!" in a very loud and harsh voice. It startled both of us. I told her calmly, "Please lower your voice--you scared him," and she rudely replied "No," right in front of my child. When I tried to speak with her again, she continued to be unkind. My son looked at me and asked, "Why is she not nice? Why isn't she spreading kindness?"--and I honestly didn't know what to tell him. I also spoke with the manager, but my concerns didn't feel heard. I completely understand the need for rules, but I believe children--especially in a library's kids' area--deserve to be spoken to with patience and kindness. This experience made me hesitate to return with my children, which is really unfortunate for a place that's supposed to be family-friendly. read more

Thanks to my mother for making sure I lived near libraries and appreciated them over the years. I'm privileged to live near both Tustin and Irvine Wheeler branches of the Orange County Public Library system. The countywide system enables materials to be transferred across city boundaries. Materials in circulation aren't limited to the City of Tustin. Furthermore, if you don't find specific books or other materials here, ask a library to help you request it from another branch -- and conveniently pick it up at Tustin library. Unlike Wheeler this branch is quite big. It's modern, one-level open floorplan is accessible with wider aisles. Computers available for public use are spaced out for relative privacy. Higher ceilings may echo sounds, but a quiet study room is available in the back corner. Many tables have 4 chairs and a couple of electrical outlets. If you want to study, ask somebody to share a table. After all, libraries are for communities. Super easy to pick up books/materials on reserve. The shelf is divided by the first letter of surnames, but the receipt features library card numbers -- so your privacy is respected. Self-serve checkout kiosks enable librarians minimize the wait time for their knowledgeable help. The only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is (a) frequency of times OCPL.org has reported a book on shelf but it's not there, (b) fiction books aren't in one location because a "popular" section including romance titles is in the back near the quiet study room, and (c) books on promotion near the entrance are flat and stacked on top of each other on a table, so you can't readily see the titles. At least some are on bookshelfs, so you can browse. Help the booklovers out!! read more

Great library here in the community of Tustin. I have been here a few times and have had the chance to check out their books and resources, since they have bugger libraries than Fountain Valley, or Costa Mesa nearby me. But same routine, as long as you respect their property you get to use with your membership card, you will be ok. read more

My daughter and I love this place. We come every week. Organized with a diverse plus inviting reading selection. My 7 year old loves to explore as she easily locates her weekly required school books. This is a beautiful building. Even has a garden to sit in. The only problem is there are not a lot of books. Admittedly, it's a branch library (as opposed to a regional one). Certainly you can reserve books anywhere else in the system and have them brought here. If you're just looking for something to read and don't need a lot of detail, this is probably a fine place. If you want a particular book, there's a good chance you'll have to order it sent from another library. read more

We went to the tustin library Sunday afternoon and it was awful! It was busy and that's fine, but there were kids running around. Kids crying like crazy and just being loud. Some kids were shooting dart guns at each other chasing each other. . Thank god I have noise cancelling in my earbuds because that what I had to do to concentrate. Not to mention the homeless lady taking a bath in the bathroom. It was nasty! Oh yeah and the bum that was walking in while we were leaving... ummmm that's too much for the kids to see. I love the Tustin library. I come here every chance I get. I appreciate that there is a community bulletin board available in the hallway across from the bookstore and the restrooms. I have dropped off old glasses here in the collection box. I have dropped off old batteries here as well. I have shopped in the bookstore. Yay! Books! One of my close friends recently grabbed a library card from her local library, which really inspired me to start reading again. I have plenty of books at home, but, hey, grass is greener on the other side, sometimes :) Plus, I do have a Kindle, and hubby was able to find out that by having a library card, we can borrow ebooks for our Kindle! Woot! We parked in the City Hall area (honestly, I'm not sure if this was the proper place to park....), walked over to the front desk, and asked if we could sign up for a library card. There were two staff members, once who was VERY nice and super-easy to talk to. She was smiling and bubbly, and I LOVED her personality since it seemed like she was passionate about her job and knew eveeeerything that was/is happening at the library, especially events, book clubs, location, etc. She gave us a ton of information while we signed up, and highly encouraged us to walk around and get a feel of the place. The library is quite big, though it looked like it was only a one-level, with no upstairs or downstairs. So, everything is pretty spaced out. I can see it getting a bit loud and affecting the entire library, though, if there are events. With the library card, we were able to check out Overdrive and see that there's a LOT that the OC library sytem has to offer for ebooks and audiobooks! SUPER HAPPY on their offerings, and very happy on this public library system. read more

Libraries are one of the most underappreciated places to go to. People forget that libraries hold one of the best resources in the world... BOOKS. This library is pretty ahhhmazing! Not only do they have a great selection of books especially in different languages. They offer free wifi, storytime, special events, book club, portable hotspot lending, and much more. The staff is great! They are available to help and always have a positive attitude. I love the special events that they put together. One of my favorites was last year, they provided a diy kit to make terraniums at home. This virtual program was a lot of fun and the library assistant Mr. Carl was informative and delightful. I even added my own little dinosaurs for a rawr-some environment. This past week they had a Fairy Party which was full of magic! There were pixies and fairies galore. I like how they even offered magical refreshments. Overall, Tustin Library is a great library to go to in the OC. If you want to be kept in the know like myself, I follow the OCPL on social media. read more

Whenever I searched the catalog for books, the titles would show up all right...but it would say that the item was available at a library in another city! This review is for the tree lighting event organized in the outdoor area. It was well planned with a few game stalls, a letters to Santa stall, and cookie decorating stall. There was Christmas music playing and the mayor gave a speech before lighting the tree. The tree was a bit of a let down - it was relatively small and didn't have a wow factor. There were plenty of photo ops with a photo booth with Santa as well as one with the Grinch! The parking lot was full, understandably. read more

I'm new to this library and I really like it a lot the library card is free you renew it every three years you can check out up to 50 items and they are due every three weeks I know right super amazing and convenient . My toddler really likes the kids/reading section they don't have much but she definitely enjoys her time there. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome oh and I almost forgot to mention the patio they have with benches outside for the kids to go out and read I know my 6 year old is really going to enjoy reading there this summer. read more

Such a pleasant "curbside service" experience. My kids & I chose the books we wanted to checkout online, waited to receive an email confirming they were ready (took only a few days) then went to pick up. When we got there, we called the number posted (you could also text the number) on the blue tent that is for the curbside service. The man who answered confirmed my library card number then I watched him (from my car) go outside & leave the pile of books on the table. Once he walked away from the table, I then got out of my car & went to grab our books- the gentleman confirmed my last name then walked inside the building. Once he walked away I went forward to grab our books. Super easy, so convenient, and the workers are following Covid guidelines amazingly.
