Having been to the establishment in Chorlton many times, I was pleasantly surprised when a friend…read moresuggested we go to the Laundrette in town. Recently opened, the new restaurant is one of the few on First Street so it is quite easy to find. Obviously we took advantage of the January offer and judging by how busy it was on a Tuesday night, so did a lot of other people! Walking it the vibes were really good with great lounge music playing and people chatting away. The menu and drinks offerings seemed to be the same and prices very reasonable. We all knew what we wanted to have anyway- our favourite burger or pizzas! We started with a sharing platter which would probably suit 2 people more than 4, but everything on the board was cooked perfectly. We especially liked the spicy mayonaise as it had a good kick to it. I really liked the burger- big thick and juicy with accompaniments to match and we ordered 1more mac and cheese to share halfway through our meal cos we couldn't get enough of it! The staff were really friendly and bubbly which made the night an even better experience. We sat on the outside tables, so you might want to watch out for the heaters, as they are really hot! I must say, I was very impressed with this restaurant, and dare I say it, as good as the original!

The atmosphere was great fantastic tunes playing in the background which really got us excited for the night ahead of us. We got three drinks one of which was a shared which was served in a massive popcorn container! It was delicious and worth the money. If coming here definitely try one of the cocktails they are gimmicky and very fun to drink! A great place for a catch up session with the girls and for prepping a night out on the town. I will be back!

The Botanist in Sheffield is quite hidden away in Leopold Square in Sheffield city centre, close to…read morethe City Hall stop on the Supertram network. It's probably the only bar and restaurant to also be a maze, its HUGE and other than outdoor seating it surely doesn't feel like you're entering a restaurant. They have 3 sets of two doors but strangely only one is in use and there is no sign for this, once inside you basically go back on yourself into a dark, dingy, horrible corner where they have the lift. After leaving the lift, finding the main restaurant is equally as puzzling and difficult. Admittedly, the decor in the restaurant is unique and innovative and true style of The New World Company restaurants, albeit I preferred the Media City branch, there were many similarities with trees, huts etc. It to me felt like an old bank or barn but refurbished, possibly even a potential wedding venue. I dined here during an ongoing promotion where they offered 40% off the food bill in January and ordered my regular Chicken and Chorizo Hanging Kebab which would usually come to £13.95. I did notice the menu to be slightly stained and sticky however service was reasonable with the waitress (Becca), seems to do a lot, despite not being overly busy she seemed to have a huge workload due to them appearing understaffed and she still worked in a friendly and polite manner which is commendable. They do also offer a set menu all year round however this still at £12.95 for two courses this still ends up costing slightly more than the 40% off promotion, so I have no idea why I was offered it. Also, I found it strange that they labelled dairy-free and vegetarian on both menus but only NG (non-gluten) on the regular menu, meaning if you did order from the set menu, you'd have to cross-check between them. Sadly the slight cleanliness issue which arose with the menus seemed to continue with the cutterly (ready on the table) which also wasn't entirely clean sadly which also is uncommon by usual Botanist standards. I did enjoy the majority of my kebab, while I do feel the garlic seemed to taste more overpowering and heavy than other branches, I did also find the meat on the ends to taste a little chewy and overcooked, while the middle was fine. It still had some good flavours and was rather enjoyable and certainly warranted good value for money, even at 50% off. Certainly not the best branch of The Botanist I've been too, but my food was still pretty good, as was most aspects of my experience. I do feel a lot of small improvements do need to be made, however, only warranting a three-star rating for now.

I'm not really a pub type of person and don't really enjoy drinking a pint for the sake of it, so its nice to know that i can now jump on my bike and pootle along to Bottle on a sunday lunch for a decent bottle of cider. I say decent as Bottle serve 'thistly cross'. Not only that though they serve my favourites the whisky cask and ginger versions. AND..(.yes this is a big AND), they also have snyders jalapeno pretzels....which quite frankly are the only reason i ever eat pretzels. The place itself is small, but through a good seating plan can easily accommodate up to 30 people and still feel uncrowded. The shop is positioned towards the back and by the looks of it (see picture) has lots to choose from. whilst i don't drink beer myself (only cider), i know it must be a good choice as my husband spends ages deciding and has that look of glee in his eye. Its a really nice little place, with great beer, good seating and really friendly staff. I will be returning....often.

I tried the porter on tap (I know! I drank beer!) and really liked its chocolate BBQ flavour. Bf got super excited about a 10% Thornbridge Jaipur and said it was one of the best things he drank in ages. He also bought a Thornbridge rhubarb to bring home which he also liked (although said he wouldn't need to drink more than one of those!). The prices are pretty high so it's more a treat place (if you want a bargain quality bottle option, head to Bargain Booze in Davenport). I imagine it might get hard to find a seat on weekends (which is great, because it means it's doing well) but midweek had the perfect balance of available seats but most tables taken which gave it a very pleasant buzz.

This is only the second time I have eaten here, they are very accommodating. We had our engagement party there and they were both helpful and professional. The restaurant occupies the bottom floor with a cocktail bar on the top floor, which has a fantastic lighting and music system. An equally amazing cocktail list to match, my personal personal favourite STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI, which takes me straight back to my holidays! We ate there Tuesday night with two good friends from Chorley, we had a drink in the bar then made our way to the table. There is a normal menu with starters and mains along with a tapas menu. I had the meatballs off the tapas as my starter, I was not let down by the juicy, succulent homemade meatballs. Main course normally I have a steak when we eat out, I thought I'd break the habit so I ordered chicken breast stuffed with garlic and basil, wrapped in pancetta services with new potato's (which were slightly roasted and amazing) along with a creamy tomato and chorizo sauce. Which was to die for!!!!!! After all that I was too full to have a pudding! Defiantly worth a visit!

As we sat down, we made our choices, and was expecting to be served, so we could order drinks/starters. But even though there were less than 3 tables in service, I had to go and find a server so I could order our drinks and meals. This could be forgiven if it were busy, but it was not, and there were plenty of staff just gazing into the void. When I managed to collar someone to make the order, we had to wait an extended length of time, for the over priced, poorly cooked food. When the mains arrived, probably 40 mins after ordering, both the burger, and the steak were EXTREMELY salty, and zero flavour depth. It was so salty, my mouth is still dry and burning as I write this review. You would normally expect, to be asked how the food is, during your meal. And genuinely wanting feedback, to add to value added work, to keep the business continually improving. But in the Firepit, it seems, nobody cares how your food is. We spent the whole meal, batting away flies, and choking on enough salt, to put us in perpetual hypertensive crisis. I mentioned to 2 staff members, how terrible the experience was, but nothing was mentioned to management, and to be quite honest, they didn't seem like they cared. In the restaurant business, you have to be monitoring customer experience closely, as you're only as good as your last weeks customers, so if this isn't actioned upon, I can see this space up for rent, very soon. At the Fire Pit, you pay city premiums, for terrible service/food/experience. This really is a pretentious venue, with zero quality control, or customer service. Experience is everything, and I can say wholeheartedly, they have missed the mark. Howevver we promptly returned the week after and immediately fell in love with the place. What an incredible experiance. First thing you notice is the size of the place. (Tiny) It genuinely feels like a hidden bar from the prohibition era with incredible decor and music that suits the Blues/Jazzy environment to perfection. Being here is like traveling back in time to the 20's when alcohol was illegal and small secret bars like these were littered across America. The theme is consistent with the menu hidden inside a book that's handed to you upon arrival. So mesmerized were we with the vibe and conversation the cocktail taste bud memories are hazy at best. (I'll leave you with a visual of the cocktails we had. One was lemon based the other strawberry based?) This is THE perfect place for those who like sophisticated conversation with your aptly aesthetic cocktails. It's not noisey, it's not busy, it's just right. Definitely worth a visit. I'll certainly be returning.
