Cosmopolitan - Cosmopolitan Restaurant and Cocktail Bar

I may be slightly bias as the owners are my sister-in-law to be and her husband. It has been open…read morefor about a year now. This is only the second time I have eaten here, they are very accommodating. We had our engagement party there and they were both helpful and professional. The restaurant occupies the bottom floor with a cocktail bar on the top floor, which has a fantastic lighting and music system. An equally amazing cocktail list to match, my personal personal favourite STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI, which takes me straight back to my holidays! We ate there Tuesday night with two good friends from Chorley, we had a drink in the bar then made our way to the table. There is a normal menu with starters and mains along with a tapas menu. I had the meatballs off the tapas as my starter, I was not let down by the juicy, succulent homemade meatballs. Main course normally I have a steak when we eat out, I thought I'd break the habit so I ordered chicken breast stuffed with garlic and basil, wrapped in pancetta services with new potato's (which were slightly roasted and amazing) along with a creamy tomato and chorizo sauce. Which was to die for!!!!!! After all that I was too full to have a pudding! Defiantly worth a visit!

In the warmth upstairs. Reminds me of a cool little wine bar from the 90s. The waiters are nice eye candy and good and cocktails. And they are cheap. Music was good. Didn't check the toilets out which is unusual for Me. Would defo go back. Was very busy for Saturday. If you at loose end in chorley. Get your butt down here

The Steal Foundry really goes against the stereotypical Wetherspoons which is one of the reasons I…read morehate the brand which is the largest pub chain in the UK, this location is done differently and I think it is done so well it sets a new benchmark to which all J D Wetherspoons should aim for, perhaps it is down to it being a shopping centre location being apart of The Oasis Dining Quarter on the lower level of Meadowhall. Now a shopping centre isn't the average place you'd expect to find for a pub and it seems Tim Martin and co (Tim Martin is the founder of the Wetherspoons brand) realised that by making this branch more suited to anyone including families, they have a larger amount of lower tables than other bars and while they do have higher tables suitable for drinking, they have a restauraunt area with a separate enterance too (you don't have to go through loads of people just in to drink the cheap booze), they even have an open kitchen which seemed efficient and clean, and was bringing out many drinks which looked pretty good. I mainly came in to pick up a Gunna lemonade due to their ongoing promotion where you can buy one at a Wetherspoons store and get your money back, while the mobile signal appears to be awful inside especially towards the back (where the main "restauraunt" part and open kitchen is), I was able to use the mobile app to order my drink delivered to my table via the app. I must say I was so impressed with the speed of the delivery, I know it was just a drink they needed to get out of a fridge with a glass with ice but to do this in a minute or two considering how busy they were is truly impressive. The staff seemed really friendly too, I love it when staff members go out of their way to make sure everything is okay, even smiling on the way in and out, this really shown the staff were happy and that doesn't seem to happen much in chain pubs nowadays anyway, it just brought a more positive environment throughout. I do think the selection of soft drinks and spirits could be improved however such as stocking a greater range of non-alcoholic cocktails and beverages, possibly including iced teas and coffees, the latter they do sell one which is premade however considering they aren't that simple to make, it would be great if they did. I also would have liked to see a better open bar for spirits, stocking more flavoured vodkas perhaps. Still, this is the best Wetherspoons I've visited as it's fairly modern and it doesn't appear to be run down like most their other stores, ditching the old-fashioned stereotype which one must surely associate with the brand, it's a rather nice place to get a drink if you're in Meadowhall and really does put Wetherspoons branches in the city centre (which took 10 minutes to get my drink which took under 2 minutes here) to shame. 4*

As one other poster commented, the place has recently been renovated, so it is very clean and in good order. The selection of beer is nice and I personally enjoyed making my way in trying out the line of Sam Smiths brews. The price of the beer is also "extremely" inexpensive... so a little money goes a long way here. On the down side and due to the prices, this place can get busy and there is a good number of the people who've clearly had a pint or two too many. From the few times I visited here, it seems there was a group of seniors which were getting themselves pickled and if they were to die that very night they probably would not need embalming. I also didn't find the staff to be very friendly. They were not mean, but not overly sociable either. In the end, if you are with a group of people and in the neighborhood, then this is the place to come for a round or two, and then move onto your your next location.
