The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good and also reasonably priced. My only minor niggle was the service at the bar was not great and at times actually seemed unattended. But apart from that enjoyed the evening and would definitely recommend the place and will be going again.

I am a local resident of Gee Cross and have been drinking in this pub as a regular for the last few…read moreyears. It used to be a lovely, well run pub with nice clientele. However, over the last six months or so there has been a massive change, with a lot of local residents choosing to avoid this establishment. The landlord is more concerned with profits, than the well being of local residents and customers, maybe he should stick to barbering than running a pub. He lets in a lot of customers who are barred from other local pubs in the village, unconcerned about the trouble they may cause. He also turns a blind eye to the obvious drug dealing/taking in these premises. The last few times I have been in this pub, there has been fights breaking out, with no door staff on to intervene. Only this Friday as one fight erupted at the rear, other fights started to break out, resulting in one person being randomly head butted and knocked out completely. The only person who seemed to do anything about it was the barman, Gregg, who stopped the fight. As a concerned resident of Gee Cross village, I will no longer be drinking in here, and will also be making complaints to licensing authorities. I would like to point out that this in no way is a review of the restaurant, which has always been superb, but this is a review of the bar.

I cant wait as I love Italian food and Gee Cross needs some more eating places. The grapes is a very beautiful old building with a lot of original features intact like the stained glass windows and the fireplaces. The owner is Italian so hopefully it will be authentic food.This pub has tables outside and is usually packed at weekends and on warm evenings in summer. i await the grand opening.

After a few hours wandering through nearby Etherow Country Park and its surrounds (as we got a tad…read morelost!) we happened upon the Andrew Arms and popped in for a spot of late lunch. As you enter there are doors on each side - one for the bar and one for the 'lounge' - the former is a small, quiet seating area whilst the latter is more spacious with a large TV showing sports. This is where they lose a star as not only was it cricket (major yawn), it kind of spoiled the atmosphere of this quaint pub. But what do we know, we're out-of-towners and this is a locals' favourite drinking spot. Thankfully, they were still serving food (it was about 14:45) and they still had tables available, so we plonked ourselves down next to the fire, ordered well-earned pints and looked through the menu. It's a Robinsons Brewery pub, so they mostly serve their beers; Unicorn is a decent one to order. The food was the absolute highlight though - hearty and delicious. Their 'Pie of the Moment' (which was actually a choice of three pies - I chose Steak & Ale) was probably the best homemade pub pie I've ever eaten. A satisfying end to a lovely day out - would certainly recommend.

It has changed ownership in the last two years and has a different crowd but is still a busy spot. There is a nice area for sitting outside in the summer and the tuesday night quiz is legendary.

They do taster boards which consist of 3 third of a pint glasses of your choice if you want to sample a few different ones. There is a friendly atmosphere and the pub is very dog friendly. There is no television, rather a juke box (which is never too loud) and a pool table - if you're on your own Phil will probably give you a game. It is a short stroll down from Broadbottom train station and so I think a brilliant destination for a little trip out of town for a change with no designated driver required! They will get 5 stars as soon as they regular food on the go - but that's just my preference.
