A MUCH better price than the hotels right next to the airport, yet this hotel/pub is just minutes from the hotel. The room was large and the bathroom was so nice and updated! The cow art in the hallways was sooooo cute! I loved loved it! The pub service could have been more attentive, but we were a little impatient as we wanted to repack for the flight the next day. The food was good! My husband enjoyed his flatbread pizza. My gammon steak was incredibly salty, like way too salty. Free parking. Easy check in/out Good WiFi We are back in the UK in August and we're already booking our overnight stay at this hotel. We're looking forward to it. Who says that about their night before a long flight?

Situated on Chester Road just by Manchester FC train station, The Trafford is the first one of the big Manchester United pubs you will come across. Its got two rooms, one a huge normal pub area, and the other a square room, which looks a lot like a dance floor, with a smaller bar for bottled beers only. This in not a dance floor but a chant floor, where Manchester United fanatics gather before each game to shout and sing the classic United songs. Drinks are expensive of course, but they are the same everywhere on match day at around £3. They also have some amazing facilities for pouring beers very very fast in large quantities, so check it out. Going here are to the other two pubs (see Yelp) is a really important part of going to see Manchester United play, so don't skip it!

It's still part of the JW Lees pub chain mind you, selling their beers (so don't be expecting anything too exciting flowing from the taps), but they've done away with the company logos on the exterior and really put lots of thought into how to target their revised customer base - diners with a slightly more modern appetite. The dining spaces are smartly designed and depending on your party's size, you could reserve a semi-private area for your meal. We sat in the conservatory restaurant area which overlooks the beer garden and Bridgewater Canal; it's a light and airy part of the building, even in winter. Their food menu is seasonal, so we got to see what they were offering for winter. We were all sold on the Sunday roasts though, which were good quality and reasonably priced at £10.50. Feeling the need to treat ourselves to dessert, we ordered sticky toffee puddings (gorgeous) and a cheeseboard. This was a local CAMRA meeting, so we were fairly confident of finding decent real ale. The pub has obviously had a major refurbishment recently, resulting in a magnificent community pub- almost large enough to be a community itself! The bar and restaurant areas are welcoming and uncluttered. There is a large conservatory-type extension at the back for functions, plus a wonderful function room which gives all the feelings of a medieval banquet hall! The outside areas comprise a more than ample car park, a beer garden which could seat forty plus and a superb children's playground area. All areas were extremely clean and well-looked-after the toilets being small but very modern and hygienic. All staff encountered seemed to be interested in serving and knowledgeable about their wares the landlord especially so. The only minus points for me were the fact that I had to drive to get there and back, hence I could only have a few tasters of the beers, and the price of said beers. When pubs nearer home are selling real ale for between £2.30 and £2.70 a pint, £2.95 seems a bit much for somewhere that is off the beaten track. That said, I am still going to recommend The Black Swan to any friends for a visit.

Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.
