Always looking for new restaurants on the island so was anxious to try Tuscany. I was not disappointed, definitely something the island needed. While we have some very good Italian restaurants, Tuscany is different.
First, it does the little things right, probably the most professional restaurant on the island. A few examples
-- tables are booked to optimize flow, the server and kitchen don't get overwhelmed and you are not left sitting 30+ minutes
-- the complimentary glass of Prosecco when you arrive puts the evening in the right mood (be nice if they offered a non-alcoholic option)
-- the toilets have nice soaps and hand lotions as well as real wash clothes rather than paper towels
-- the server does a great job of describing the specials
While the above might sound minor, and would be the cost of doing business in London or Rome, it creates an atmosphere that makes the dining experience so pleasant.
The food also lives up to the ambiance. Queenies (Manx scallops) appetizer comes in a nice Chardonnay sauce. My main was a pork shank special. It was quite large and had a nice, complex flavor with lots of fresh herbs. Only recommendation would be some crisper skin/crackling.
Tiramisu was the perfect finale. Overall highly recommended. read more
