Party of 4, made reservation -- seated promptly. Now for the important part, the food. Garlic pita style bread prepared in brick oven delicious as always. Appetizer of pepperoni rolls was outstanding, waitress Ruby had out before meal, as promised. Plenty of cheese and pepperoni, made to order. Entree was pork chop vesuvio, tea to drink. Ruby kept the beverages flowing. Vesuvio was delicious! Large portion, plenty of peppers, onions and sausage. Pork cooked well w/slight chargrilled flavor, pomodoro sauce a tad spicy. Brick oven pizza is great and hands down the best I have ever had! Great ambiance and service. Servers have always been friendly and I love the biblical verse they have written over the pizza cooking area. Also love the Bruschetta! You will not be disappointed. Overall the atmosphere was unique and cozy. The Stromboli was delicious, the calamari was ok.. texture food but batter could have used more seasoning. It has been 6 years since my last review which was not a good one. Since that time, the food has been consistent and very good to taste. Service has been very good. I ate here most recently in Jan 2026 and it was not a good experience and the reason I have not been back since. I ordered chicken piccata. The chickens must have shrunk or something. It was one the smallest chicken breasts pieces I have ever received at TS. It was a new experience for me at the restaurant after having built up a good track record of consistency. And to compound the issue, the chicken breast and pasta was swimming in water/broth as if in a swimming pool. While the flavor was acceptable, one should not have to spoon out pieces of chicken from a broth in a pasta dish. Needless to say, it was very disappointing. Due to time constraints, I did not ask the waitress to have the dish made again. Having a dish of this quality was bad enough, but the price increase over the past year or so seems a bit unreasonable for the smaller size of the meat served and to some extent the amount of pasta served. No complaints about service as the wait staff has always been very good. read more

Tough day at Tuscan Slice today..... Party of four taken to our booth. Booth had not been cleaned.... Were sent back to the front..... Took too long to get our drinks ordered. (2 teas, 2 Waters)....... Ordered 3 of the small pizzas..... During the time we were waiting, server never came back to check on us..... 2 pizzas came out.... After a few min, I stopped another person and said we were waiting on a 3rd pizza..... After another long wait, the server showed up and said she thought we had ordered the appetizer, which was weird because we had already had the other two pizzas at the table..... by the time the 3rd pizza was ready, we just boxed it up and went home....... I haven't been here in so long. My family and I decided to stop by and try it again. I had two free "kids build their pizza for free" coupon, which I thought was cool. Walking in we were greeted by almost every staff member which makes you feel welcoming. The vibe is rustic almost and they have their own pizza station. We ordered the fried calamari which was pretty good considering it was devoured before I could take a picture. My kids made their own pizza on the table. They enjoyed that experience. We had the lunch special (2 topping pizza and the lasagna with a house salad). The lasagna was ok, wasn't my favorite. The pizza was really good though. The kids pizza too was really good. The only issue we kinda had was our waitress didn't feel that inviting compare to the other staff members. She lacked attentiveness and didn't look like she wanted to be there. The presentation was a large glob of tomato sauce on top of overcooked pasta and a burnt Italian sausage link cut in half. Pretty sure my pasta was not tossed in sauce as the middle of the noodle patch had no sauce. The sauce had no flavor other than acidic tomato sauce out of a can. Italian sausage was bland. Late night after the races in Ennis. Very visible signage and good lighting in the parking lot. Seated right away by a pleasant hostess. Large menu that was easy to read. I chose the Fettuccini Alfredo with wood fire grilled chicken. Easily some of the best Alfredo I've ever had. Past cooked perfectly, sauce thick and creamy and you could taste the fire on the chicken yet not so strong as to overwhelm. My Wife had the salad with pecans and loved it. Large, fresh and perfectly dressed with a mustard based vinaigrette. Our friends both ordered pizza; one a hand tossed crust with pepperoni and olives, she said it was excellent. Her husband has a gluten allergy and the excellent server tool great care to ensure he knew what was in it so he was able to make a good decision. He also Loved it. Aimee and Jonathan are truly the kindest people, and they stepped in last minute to cater our wedding at The French Farmhouse in Collinsville, TX. Not only did they let us come in for a full tasting, but they worked with us to customize the entire menu and even created a cocktail hour with appetizers that our guests still talk about to this day. Everyone says it was the best wedding food they've ever had--and we agree! Now we eat at Tuscan Slice all the time--it's easily one of our favorite places, and Aimee and Jonathan have honestly become our friends. I wanted to love this as much as everyone seemed to. The staff is very nice. I was going to get an entree, but in the end this is a pizza place and a family place. I prefer a bit more ambiance for a 20-35 dollar entree that doesn't come with a salad. The restaurant may be considered rustic or Italian rustic decor. But the wall of our booth just looked like regular sheet metal and is not cleaned regularly because it had food particles stuck to the wall. We had Fried Calamari- had good flavoring in the coating (which was light and flakey)but the calamari was either over cooked or freezer burned. Side sales with blue cheese dressing. - It comes dressed so you will want to make sure you like the dressing. (And you have to accept how much they put on or don't put in the salad. The blue cheese was homemade (i think) It is not a creamy blue cheese, it is more of oiled bases with flecks of blue. Not chucks but little tiny flecks. It was a bit oily for my tastes. It didn't need it to be creamy...but maybe more emulsified. The pizza. We had the Lady margarite. The ingredients tasted fresh, the basil I felt was sparse and the cherry tomatoes are tarter than regular tomato's. IMO. It is a decent pizza dough/crust but it was a bit soggy. I think the crust could have been more crisp. Hostess was an excellent first impression The waitress was very nice but not efficient. But she can be trained on better serving...you can't train nice and kind... and she was very nice and kind!! If I was in the area again I am not sure I would go again. But if I lived here I might find that it is the best pizza in the area. I didn't hate it... but based on other reviews I thought I would LOVE it. I needed up being neutral. read more

The atmosphere is rustic and welcoming, but our party of 6 was seated in a literally freezing room with no ambiance. Our waiter was good, but other staff members left a door open to their break area and we got strong whiffs of cigarette smoke. My mother's angel hair pasta was overcooked, but her chicken tasted good. My Alfredo was fine. My boyfriend's manicotti was drenched in a sauce so acid that I correctly predicted an evening of heartburn. Best Italian food I have had in a long time. Love the atmosphere and the Decour of the restaurant. The service was good and the food came out fairly quick. The wood fired pizza was great, love the smoky flavor and the smell of burning wood in the restaurant. The baked ziti lacked flavor but the plate that came with three different entree samples was a good choice. All 3 were great and each one of us preferred a different one. Next time we will know what we prefer. But you will not go wrong with anything you order. Would recommend giving this place a go. read more
