We opted for 2 versions of the darkest on tap, one of which was BA - both were solid and the service was really good, as was the music and the overall vibe, which I'll credit to the turtle decor and merch ; ) There was no food that I saw, so, eat before or after. Great name, great beer, and even better service! Stopped right after they opened on a Sunday and there were only a few other patrons in their besides us. Very relaxed vibe though and I love all their branding. Ordered a flight of beers and 2 of the 4 really stood out to me. While sliding the flight holder across the bar top it got stuck and one of the pours spilled. I told them they didn't have to replace it but they did at no charge which was very sweet of them. After we paid our bill and were finishing up they gave us a free taster of one of their other beers. One of the employees was even watching the football game on their phone and set it up so we could see it as well! Don't sleep on Turtle Stack, it's worth the visit! read more

We came in for a taste. All in all, small beer selection, great atmosphere and friendly service. Like others have said, quaint place with a rustic/industrial vibe. Flight of beers -- German Pils, Belgian Witbier, Schwarz (black) Lager, Maple Rye Belgian Dark. My dad and I came in with both having very different style preferences in beer taste, but decided on four to try together. We were both in love with the dark color but light and refreshing flavor profile of the Schwarz lager, but disappointed in the lack of maple in the Maple Rye. It was too sweet without being maple forward and alcohol-y tasting. Others were decent but nothing to write home about. read more

Nice little spot in downtown La Crosse. There's plenty of seats for cozy interchanges with friends. There's a bit of an industrial vibe matched with rustic wooden table tops. I love that there's succulents on every table! It can get loud the more patrons come in but in a fun, lively way. Love the music - old country, mostly Dolly's pipes singing the blues as we drink away! They have a nice selection of good craft beer. I had the cask Black Ale and it was a nice dark beer with hints of maple and cinnamon. The bartenders are really friendly and very knowledgeable and helpful. Sampled 3 beers. "Betty the gnome" was by far the best one that I tried. It's an award winning beer and for good reason. The service was good and attentive. The only issue was the staff was loud and obnoxious. Kept screaming about gay pride and turning away trump supporters? Stopped in yesterday.... very inviting, comfortable digs. Never being before I asked if they did flights? They do not, but they offer half pint pours! ....good enough for me!! A Belgian fan...and trying to expand my palate to IPA's I started w a taste of the Belgian DIPA...it was delish!! Very well balanced and more Belgian than piny and bitter!! In the times of everyone adding anything they can to beers I opted for the Robust Porter... can I just say how refreshing it was to have just a normal beer... not fruity or marshmallowy?! I love that stuff & huge sour fan but this beer... it hit the spot!! Then I saw three words I like all jammed together so I had to try the Honey Jalapeno Scotch Ale... I'll be honest... i didn't expect to taste the jalapeno but there it was on the back end...just a little bite after the sweet hit you... again very well done. So.... Turtle Stack...what can I say.... these beers combined w your sweet digs and your oh so awesome friendly staff.... my palate and I are both in love. Might be a cool place but we were not able to taste the beer. Don't wear a Trump hat or you will be asked to leave. Maybe put a sign in your window that you don't serve Trump supporters. It would have prevented a very uncomfortable situation. read more

Visited from Milwaukee a couple weeks back, and really liked Turtle Stack. The beer was good and the venue is nice, we thought it was cool there was local art for sale! The venue itself is a little small, and probably not great for big groups (but we were comfortable as a table of 5). I'd definitely recommend to friends! read more

Turtle Stack is a great addition to La Crosse. That was one of the few things missing and it is a spectacular micro brewery addition. I have been in there a few times and it is always well kept and clean and the beer is always delicious. The location is great right in the heart of downtown and the bartenders are super friendly and they showcase some great local area photography. Just an enjoyable place to stop for a great beer-especially if you're looking for something a bit more lowkey than 3rd street. read more

I made a point to visit Turtle Stack because of the many recs. I'm so glad I did. I drink a lot of beer all over the country and this is seriously among the best. I had a Cherry Milk Stout and Kolsch. The flavors were delicious-well balanced and unique. I bought one to drink later (and I almost never do that!). I would make a detour to come back. read more

Boyfriend and I stopped in while visiting La Crosse, the beers were great and the prices were awesome too. We had stopped in at a different local brewery before this who had a giant menu of only IPAs and sours to choose from. Turtle Stack had a variety of beer types, and all 4 we tried were great. I want to like this place. Their beer is good! There are no food (or very limited) options. Went there recently, and the pizza place around the corner no longer even delivers to this location. The acoustics are awful, the seating uncomfortable, and recently they allowed a large, barking, lunging-at-children (non-service) dog to be in there for an extended amount of time.
