Great biker bar great ambience, good people, good food good drinks. This place has some but few Lake essentials as well things for a quick pinch, those can come in handy for camping. The people here are nice, it's got character and history. Don't be rude to them just because you city folk don't get everything you want here, this place has its own heart and soul. You can't help but love it. This place is a test for someone's hard work and I look forward to taking more rides up here for a good drink and a well-made bowl of chili. Known for their egg rolls. They are expensive at $4.50 each! It contained chicken and cabbage. Not much flavor and they don't have any sweet chili or sweet and sour sauce to dip it in. On a back road with porta potties in the parking lot I would have never stopped if someone hadn't recommended. This what happens when a Chinese man marries an Irish woman- they open a pub and have a signature egg roll. The egg roll is legit. Keep driving. Don't waste your hard earned dollars at this place that appears to be a cover for a rude bartender who clearly hates anyone who isn't a regular, and wants to fleece you. We live at lake Berryessa, would be regulars but are consistently treated like people she would not want to see again, every time we come in. Message received, we will never be back. Unless you have nowhere else to go, go anywhere else! After a lifetime of working in the service industry, having been a bartender and a server, making jokes at the customers expense is just not welcoming. I appreciate a sense of humor, even snarkyness but making people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome is not humorous. People don't go out to a bar to feel like an irritation to the staff. In an empty bar, We were purposefully ignored until several glasses were shoddily washed and there was clearly nothing left to distract the bartender. She then greeted us with, "I think it's time to go on break." We should have left then and let her have her break , which I kindly offered, before she swindled us into paying $45 for 2 Bloody Maria's . She asked what brand of tequila we wanted so I chose Casa Amigos, as one of only 2 brands visible. She drizzled a minimal, unmeasured amount of tequila over some ice, made 2 small drinks and failed to mention it was $20/per shot! When we went to pay she said the price conspiratorially, with an evil smirk, like she sized us up and down to see what she could get away with, like she knew, or truly hoped we would never be back, especially if it was up to her. A drink, at a bar should be a social event. A $20 shot should at least be a full pour, not a chintzy overpriced drizzle! I almost choked on my bloody Maria, when she said $45, for 2 drinks! It sucked all the joy out of it and made me wish I stayed home. To the old lady who hates her job, hates people and is waiting behind the bar like a spider in a web waiting to suck your blood and whatever dollars you think you can get away with, please retire. This iconic, quirky, landmark bar could be a diamond in the rough, an oasis in the middle of nowhere but it really needs an honest bartender who has personality, integrity, enjoys the company of customers and wants to be there. She's been there for years. If you get ignored by her when you walk in, run away! Look up, look down, snap a photo to say you went but hang on to your wallet and get back in your car and drive somewhere that honestly appreciates and wants your business and treats everyone like they want return customers. We stopped here to regroup after realizing our campsite was unexpectedly closed. The staff was so welcoming and friendly and even made a call to refer us to another campsite that was open at the lake. So much gratitude that our weekend camping trip was saved! I have been coming here for many years. I think 1987 was my first trip. Disappointed the egg rolls changed but still great bartender service and ice cold beers. Visiting Turtle Rock is always on the list while we're up at Lake Berryessa. We are not tourists, we live close by. Today, we visited and unfortunately didn't have the best experience. I always look forward to super yummy, hot and fresh egg rolls. Sadly, today they were gummy on the inside as if they had been sitting around awhile then reheated. And even more shocked to find this massive chunk of "meat" not chicken inside cut like a strip then placed inside the rolls. They may have always been prepared this way but I never noticed because they're always so fresh and delicious - today was a different story. The eggs rolls are fabulous, but a local take with generous roast chicken, veg and a flavorful crispy outside. Food not noteworthy otherwise, but those behind the counter, serving the crowd, have A++ people skills. We checked out Turtle Rock on our way back from Lake Berryessa because we heard about their famous egg rolls. I had really high expectations thinking it was going to be so delicious. I was very disappointed. They are big but all you taste is celery with some mystery meat that looks like a form of turkey spam. It was salty. We also had a couple of rounds of shots and I honestly think they water down their liquor. Normally after two back to back shots, I start to feel it but I didn't feel anything. The only reason I give two stars is because it is a unique experience with dollar bills hanging everywhere, very small town feel, and the staff was nice. Great little spot to get a quick bite and a drink. Minimal cell service, and it's not the cheapest since it's the only place around. I ride my motorcycle to here often. The bartenders are super nice. The egg rolls are the best I've ever had. All their food that comes out of the fryer is good. They have pre-made cold cut sandwiches that are a great little bite. A cool dive to check out on your way to lake Berryessa. The world famous eggrolls are huge! Let me preface by saying I have never been a huge eggroll fan- with that said I thought they were ok. It tasted like any eggroll you would get except 3 times the size. I do wish they offered sweet and sour or plum sauce along with the mustard and siracha. So....Out for a drive and stopped in and grabbed a couple egg rolls. Love that they also have tots! The egg rolls were hot and crispy. They had turkey and veggie. Plenty of outdoor tables and just a great destination /stop while we were out enjoying the day! Bartender was very nice! BTW egg rolls are now $3.50 a piece. A Jack & Coke now = $8.75. Yes, you read that correctly. $8.75, I bought 8 eggrolls (a few to go) & 2 cocktails. $41.50. We could buy an entire bottle for around $19.99. What's really the shame?? Keep your drink prices a little lower, you already have a TON of loyal customers & more will come back. I go out to beryessa at least once a month and stop every time. But don't be fooled by the reviews, the egg rolls are trash and nothing to spend $4 on. The meat taste like canned mystery meat and the vegetables i are mushy. Over all very flavorless. read more

Well, two ways to look at it: 1) A friggin oasis in the middle of no where. 2) A cheap dive bar with fried food and decent prices. I was starved, so I tried a couple egg rolls. They were pretty yummy, especially with hot mustard and soy sauce. Soooooo, I ordered two more. Mistake. By the time my second round came out, I was't that hungry. Inspecting the egg rolls was less thrilling the second time. The inside was still ice cold, the mystery meat was suspicious. To this day, I wonder if it was a really cheap cut of pork or a sketchy piece of chicken. Someone told me turkey, which would explain it. Fellow patrons were mostly old guys who were very comfortable there and seemed content not interacting with strangers. Went to this place today with several other people on motorcycles - there is ONE porta-pottie outside that was DISGUSTING!! Urinal was totally clogged up and not draining and the toilet part was piled so high and wet all over the seat!! I opted "to wait" - did not need to use it that badly!! With this being just after places are starting to open again after closing due to Covid-19, the conditions were unacceptable to say the least. If this is such a "popular" stop for many driving by, there needs to be 2 or 3 porta-potties and the owners of this establishment should be checking them periodically for cleaning, etc. And then after waiting for too long for food, there was a lady (long gray hair) who very RUDELY tossed the bag with the food onto the table- RUDE!! You probably don't consider egg rolls to be an essential part of a perfect day at the lake. Bloody Marys, maybe, but not egg rolls. A stop at Turtle Rock will change that. The patrons fall into three categories: grizzled locals passing time at the tables out front, packs of bikers grabbing a drink and hitting the porta potty, and weekenders headed for Lake Berryessa. They all have one thing in common: egg rolls! Turtle Rock's Bloody Marys are also superb. I learned a neat trick by watching Pete, the owner, mix them: he uses the celery stalk to scoop the horseradish from the jar and then mixes the drink with it. Genius! read more

After a whole day of drinking wine this "bar" was recommended to us by the Somerston winery because of their famous egg rolls. How random huh? We pulled up and saw they even had a neon sign that said "egg rolls"! The inside was completely covered in dollar bills, everywhere! They have a very simple menu consisting of hot dogs and chicken stuffs but we were here for the egg rolls! At $2.25 a pop we ordered one each for our 8 person party. They were fairly large and yes, they were pretty tasty. I admit that even though I'm Chinese, I don't eat very many egg rolls since they are pretty American.
