Have particularly enjoyed picking up 4 packs of various Turning Point brews to go. Kept in the fridge, they're so much fresher tasting and closer to draft than anything you could find in a grocery or liquor store. The owners/brewers clearly love IPAs, sours and stouts, and also love to experiment. The tap and to go menus are always full of interesting, off the wall, versions and carry quite unusual names. While I'm not much on those particular styles, Turning Point does still excel at ones I do prefer - My Mother's Lucky Machete (Mexican lager), You'll Never Drink Alone (Irish red), and Switch Hand (German lager). But it's a good place to be adventurous. The menu is well worth exploring with a tasting. I got quite a liking to Zombie Break, a fruited Tiki sour that'll knock you over after a couple smooth strong pours. I've never found the staff to be particularly friendly, but that's fine, they get the job done and can be helpful with advice and suggestions. There's a station where you can create your own beer flight on a card, kind of like checking off rolls on a sushi menu. You can also order normal size beers off the menu, or buy cans and bottles to take home. At 7 pm on a Saturday it was decently busy but not at all crowded. I liked the environment and the music. They have corn hole and board games. My only complaint is--no food!! They do sell chips and popcorn, and the popcorn we got was delicious. I am a big fan of all things local! 4 stars for fresh local beer!! Inside they have lots of picnic tables to sit at and guzzle down your beer. They have a stack of fun games to play. But most importantly they have AC/Heat! You don't always find that feature at breweries. On to the beer...if you love bitter beers, IPAs, etc. this is the place for you!!! They are heavy on their selection of these of IPAs. I unfortunately, am not a big fan of these, so my selection was rather narrow. I am a stout, porter, anything dark, kind of girl. They didn't have any of these options on the day I came. I was a little sad, but then I started drinking beer and was happy again. They don't have food, but they usually have a food truck outside. The "Oh Balls" meatball school bus was there on the night we went. I came during the week and it had a good crowed. I'm sure it gets pretty packed on a weekend. Overall, I would totally come back. I've come here a handful of times with my boyfriend and have enjoyed each of our visits! You can order a flight or individual beers, and they have menus with the beers and their styles/tastes to help you "pick your poison". Ordering can be a little slow as they have one line to order from so it can get backed up if they're busy but they always have multiple bartenders working it. All of the bartenders I've talked to have been quick and friendly! Ive enjoyed all of the beers that I've tried here - I'm not a huge IPA girl and surprisingly my favorite beer here is the Kama Citra They allow you to bring food in, and regularly have food trucks outside. They also have cornhole boards and advertisements for all sorts of events. It's a great place to hang out and relax! *if you're sensitive to strong smells I suggest sitting in their outdoor tables, since they brew here it can smell very "yeasty" at times. read more

A very welcomed addition to the DFW area craft beer scene. Mostly focusing on East Coast Style IPAs - which pretty much all Texas breweries are failing on with few exceptions - they are supplying a product that is very high in demand. Open brewery concept and tasting room located in a nondescript building, but with cool art and OG games inside. Pours sold by BYO flight or by pint, growler fills, and they have package to go. Visited a few weeks ago for their "Chicken Fried Steak" release and was pretty impressed. Very juicy, the colors off all I tried were spot on, and a very valiant effort at a top notch NEIPA...only constructive criticism would be a few seemed kind of one note and a couple were more bitter than I prefer. Others were true stand outs. They are doing a great job compared to most others in the Lone Star State and I salute them for that. I think it will only get better and better. Cheers to the shared love of craft beers! Oh, if their on-site food truck is BigKat Burgers, get the burger housed in two grilled cheese sandie "buns." You must eat it! Trust me! Off the charts!!! Driving up, it's a bit deceiving. Not much can be said from the exterior as they're located in the corner of the strip mall, but their beers are a whole different story. We tried one of their imperial sours called "Zombie Break" and it was ridiculous. A 11% ABV sour with hints of pineapple and coconut was a wild ride. You would never guess the ABV was in the double digits. It was a crisp sour, perfect for a warm sunny day. The staff were super friendly and I enjoyed the IPAs too. What a fun place! I love the way they do the flights in 4 or 6. The server was super helpful and engaging, especially since my boyfriend is such a beer geek and stalks their Instagram, they had a great conversation about what the brewery had been up to. I was really torn between two of the beers and she was very helpful in steering me towards delicious selections. Everything I tried was great, I'm not as into beer as he is, but I had a chance to sample a great example of the difference between west coast ipa and east coast ipa. My favorite was probably the Saucy Nugs or the Quencher, which are a DIPA and that beautiful blue sour beer you can see in my photo. The interior is cool and open, with a sick mural of some cartoon characters in a purple swirl. A hidden gem! I've never been to Turning Point before but believe me, I will be returning! They had a variety of IPAs, Stouts, Pilsners, and Ciders! Do yourself a favor and try the Pineapple Passion fruit cider! It was my favorite! Not too sweet, like most ciders. They offer a variety of board games and video games for a fun casual date. I attended an event here this evening and really enjoyed the brewery atmosphere and decorations. I'm not a huge beer fan, but I appreciated that they had so many options on draft and also offered cider in a can. I also got to try some Godspeed BBQ for dinner including their grass-fed brisket (lean which was great and still very tender!), beans which were well seasoned, and Mac and cheese! I like this brewery. They have opened a new main space adjacent to the original building and it's very large with high ceilings. The taproom has a high board listing many beers on tap. Many more taps than before. My only challenge is that probably 85% on tap are a wide variety of IPAs and a few ciders. Fortunately they had a barrel aged stout that was very good so all was well. So many times I've passed by Turning Point and have not stopped in and it took a Yelp event to finally get me here. And then it took "work" to bring me back. After a long week of work and even more work to do I decided to get out of the house and have a sip. Well, my one sip turned into a four pour flight as Michael poured me four beers that I could not decide on. I got the four pour flight of the cheesecake, two of the dangeroust salad, and the African Dream Pie. And wow! Now just sitting here, sipping, and taking it all in. Upon walking in Turning Point has a rustic feel with a stack of wooden casks greeting you at the entrance. There are also a series of arcade games to the far right and a bar directly across from the entrance. The facility showcases their brewing fermenters to the left of the entrance. The seating was family style with large wooden picnic tables. Therefore, this place would likely be great for large groups. The service was very receptive and kind. They were quick to help with any question I had and go over the details of each of the beers they offered. While there I tried two beers, my favorite being the Oedipus complex. I didn't see a menu for any of the food available, however there were a few bags of popcorn at the bar. (Obviously a Bock), Dangerous Salad (Sour), $Texas (IPA), and The Gem (Stout). My favorite was the $Texas because I tend to gravitate towards IPAs. I haven't found a beer I didn't like from them. They usually always have a food truck out front and usually post which one will be there via Facebook/Instagram. Really nice open seating with large bench style seats. Free old school arcade games, in the back, as well. If I had one negative, it's their price on their flights. $14 for 4 samples (or $21 for 6) is definitely the highest I have seen in the many breweries I've been to. What a great little brewery! I was in town for work and a co-worker brought me here. We have a bunch of great little breweries in Houston, but none that have such an eclectic selection on tap. I was REALLY excited that they had 4 different stouts on tap. Both my co-worker and I did the flights of 4. The trays are numbered making it easy to sort out which is which. They were all excellent Stouts. The YupYup was a little weird, bit also good. They had a food truck outside that was serving up meatballs. It smelled great but I didn't get a chance to try it.
