I've never been 100% happy with my cut/color/style when I've visited other salons. I've underpaid,…read moreoverpaid, and paid for the right price...but my long brunette locks have always ended up just looking meh, until I was recommended to Michella at The Werx! I live in central Austin and for the past 3 years, I have been driving to Taylor (30 mins each way) every time I need my hair done because Michella is that good and her prices are UNBEATABLE. I believe she's had over 20 years of experience and has worked in bigger, more expensive salons, but she says that her clientele is so high at this tiny little salon that she can get away with charging people LESS and still end up with more profits than upscale salons! Every salon should take advice from Michella if they want to be successful and hold true a good business name like The Werx. It's exactly how you'd picture a small town salon. Tiny, a bit run down, friends and family of the stylists coming in and out just to say hi, bring them lunch, or sit and gossip about girly stuff, ect. Don't expect to be pampered at The Werx, you're there to get your hair done only, and at a fantastic price. So if you leave pissed off that you didn't have some fake bimbo stylist buttering you up with compliments the whole time or massaging your head for you before your cut, then don't say I didn't warn you because this isn't that type of salon. I've been going to Michella for over 3 years now. I have very long, thick hair and have never walked out paying more than $150 for a cut, full head of highlights (3 colors), blow-dry, and style. Someone PLEASE show me a good stylist that can beat that! Not to mention she actually understands what "natural looking highlights are" and never leaves me with a zebra head. Michella is friendly, beautiful (she looks SO young for her age) and she'll talk to you like a normal human being. I've recommended a couple friends to her that used to regularly pay over $250 at other salons, and they've all left extremely happy with Michella. Give her a shot, and make sure you tip her well. She's worth it!

I had been to the Edge Salon once a few years ago but don't remember who I saw (maybe Jennifer?),…read morebut she was fantastic when I needed a trim and highlights. So last fall when I needed a simple hair trim, I made a same day appointment with Amanda at the Edge Salon. Apparently she was the only one with an opening. I courteously showed up 10 minutes early and ended up waiting over 25 minutes to be seen because she was "waxing" someone. I sure hope she washed her hands in-between clients!!! Keep in mind this was the first time I'd seen or met Amanda. She was very unprofessional; nosy about my personal life (what was the name of the company I worked for, exactly where in Taylor did I live, was I married, who was my husband, how many kids did I have). I really took offense to her forceful & prying questions considering we had just met. Back to the hair trim. I had long straight hair, which you wouldn't think would be that hard to cut. Apparently that's not the case because it came out completely crooked and I had to fix it myself once I got home. Waste of money. If Amanda still works there, I wouldn't recommend her. I have heard good things about other stylists at the Edge Salon though, so don't write them off. Just avoid her!

Jennifer Walton is the best of the best of hair stylists. She always helps me decide what would…read morelook best with color and cut. I've been using her for a couple of years now and I couldn't be happier. She's so good, I drive from Austin to Taylor just for her.
