We were able to pick our own pumpkins and I got a 1/2 bushel of apples to make my own applesauce (which is seriously too easy). The staff was super amazing and helping us know what to do, where to go, etc. Who doesn't love going to an actual farm for pumpkins and apples? That's what the fall is about! I will definitely go back to McGlasson Farm again in the future. It's also cool to ride the Anderson Ferry back to Ohio when you're done.

Keep in mind they only accept cash and Venmo!!! Just stop at the counter and they will give you a cardboard box. The area for picking is very large. There are even areas across the road you can walk to. I'm always curious so I asked at the counter about the types of pesticide/sprays they use. The lady said it wasn't her place, she just works there, but she knows they spray some kind of stuff, just not sure what. She said they do try to use the least toxic stuff they can get by with, but we could always try to talk to one of the owners at a later time. I just did a really good water/vinegar bath when I got them home before putting them up. I like that the place is pretty local and not overpriced. It would be a great date idea or just to go with some family. They have other pick your own options throughout the year, so be sure to check them out!

Recently visited Pipkins fruit and vegetable market for the first time. I thought it was really…read morecute and nice from the moment I pulled in the parking lot. I went with my family, and we walked around the outdoor nursery for a little while. My one year-old had fun playing in the gravel. I do not know much about the average cost of plants to know if the deals were good or not, but the plants themselves looked healthy and vibrant. I shopped for some groceries inside and was honestly disappointed to find so few local products. Because it is a farm market, I guess I just anticipated more things from local farms. I definitely found some! Just not as much as I was expecting. And then I was shocked at some of the prices. I understand being a local business can be tough and expensive, but sadly the prices were high enough that I I don't believe I would go out of my way to return, but would stop by for some produce if I was in the area. I will say that I bought one of the best watermelons of my life. It was just a quarter wedge, pre-cut. It was perfect in every way. My baby and I ate the entire thing in one sitting. They also had some produce that is not as normal to find, such as yellow, zucchini, and passionfruit. I grabbed a yellow zucchini because it was big and robust and bright yellow, and I had never tried one before. Oh! They also had a good price on beets-- which were legitimately three times the size of those at chain grocery stores.

I walked in through the doors of the Church and found a smallish set-up with tables stocked with wares from various farmers and food producers. Fab Ferments was my first stop where I had utterly sublime Kimchi. Their juniper caraway saurkraut was super tasty too. I spoke with one of the two business partners of the fermented food operation and it was a pleasure to speak to the fellow who made the food I was enjoying so much. His affected hippiesque speaking style was appreciated, not overwhelming and lent authenticity to the experience. I was, after all, chowing down on rotting vegetables. But rotting in a truly remarkable way. Flute music was being played by another guy at a nearby table, and it seems that music is scheduled for proper marketing ambiance. The website lists some of the products to expect, but microgreens, honey, various root vegetables, gourmet cookies, spices and herbs, apples and other stuff I'm forgetting are there for your shopping convenience. As with most farmers' markets, bring cash. Wednesdays from 4-7:30pm. Street parking and probably lot parking available, though I walked it.

I wouldn't necessarily make a special trip out, as there are obviously larger more extensive farmer's markets out there, but if you are in the area and need to pick something up, you can definitely find some good stuff here. Parking is available behind the Redmoor on the 2nd and 3rd parking levels (follow the signs). The pre-picked selection of pumpkins and gourds was impressive but the pick your own pumpkin patch seemed scarce. The corn maze was fun for adults, and there was a smaller children's corn maze option too. The carriage ride had a short line, but also only went around the farm, probably a 10 minute ride, great for children. I didn't venture over to the petting zoo, but there were multiple animals to pet and pony's to ride. This is a nice place to adventure to in the NKY area for a Saturday afternoon.

It's hard to believe this peaceful farm exists less than a half hour from downtown Cincy! Gretchen runs the farm and is always so kind and patient! I don't have a farming bone in my body, but Gretchen has taught me so much already! By the end of the season, with her help, I'll be a pro! The farm also occasionally holds various events like classes, festivals, weed dating (yup!), and dinners. It's a great space! The farm stand just opened for the season and you can check it out Fri 6-8, Sat/Sun 10-2. Oh! And the Garlic Festival is this June! Be sure to come down for that! See you on the farm :)

This market is located by Lunken Airport and has a huge parking lot devoted primarily to the market. It is open Monday through Friday from around 2pm - 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am - 3pm. Right now there are a few nursery vendors there selling plants, but that's it! When the season really gets going there are going to be lots of vegetables, fruits, produce, organic made goods, and if we're lucky some local meats! I found some cute little basil plants there today that are so cute and in great health. They made my car smell so yummy!
