Walked in to this diner and seated ourselves, old school restaurant, clean and friendly employees. Our waitress took our beverage order and brought out coffees and took our order. Barely had a sip of my coffee and the turkey dinners were already out. The turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, and Cole slaw are all delicious. Bonus, you get a homemade biscuit with honey or jelly. Can't beat this place for food, service, and friendly staff. Highly recommended. Very reasonable prices as well. $

Great place to stop for lunch/dinner. Wednesday is Turkey pot pie $8.50 with a scoop of coleslaw and cranberry sauce! Delicious yum and filling the pie crust so good but couldn't finish it....

This is a quick place. Menu options are limited. I got the turkey dinner and it is defenitely enough for two meals. The stuffing is pretty mushy, but still tastes amazing. Plmashed potatoes are fine. I thought there'd be a little more turkey. Casual atmosphere with great service! You need to try this place out. You won't be disappointed!

Soon as we walked in, it was very beautiful the looks were just so comfy! The Waitress was very kind and food was quick! We come here every once in a while, and we live over an hour away, it is always fantastic! Coming here again.

We happened upon Turkey Roost this Thanksgiving during an 8-hour road trip through Michigan - what a great spot! Prices seemed fair and the food hit the spot, especially on Thanksgiving.

There is a lot to like about Turkey Roost, and I am really glad I had the chance to try out this regional institution. -The turkey meat, both white and dark, is remarkably moist and tender. -The turkey gravy is blessedly a natural light color. -Food is prepared at an incredibly fast pace. -Service is friendly and responsive. -Prices are quite reasonable. But I can't get away from feeling like this is also institutional food. The turkey plate is carbs on top of carbs on top of carbs, with carbs on the side. There is plenty of fat and salt to keep it tasty, with a little shot of sugary cranberry sauce to try and bring some balance. Certainly, there is a time and a place for this. Thanksgiving is the obvious one. However, anytime one desires deep levels of comfort, Turkey Roost will more than fill the bill. But while more than filling, the lunch left me feeling the need to get some more nutrition in me. At dinner time, I was famished for something sustaining. There is also a little trick done in the plating, as the thin slices of turkey are layered upon a mountain of stuffing. It looks like a ton of meat, but its mostly bread. Perhaps I will return and try and order a half plate with double meat? And on that half plate, I may still ask for lighter helpings of stuffing and potatoes. Because while there are more carbs than I would like, even on the half plate, I'm not going to let food go to waste. Ultimately, this was a three star meal, with a bonus star added for the x-factor of nostalgia, comfort, and value.

My grandparents used to take me here when I was little for b'fast and lunch. Portions are huge so if you have two people it's a perfect split. You can ask for a Half order. You definitely don't leave here hungry. You can't miss the building bc it's pink Everyone is very friendly.

My first time here and it did not disappoint. Good reviews here are spot on. Family style restaurant with home made style turkey dinners. My husband had the perch dinner and he liked it as well. Melt in your mouth biscuits w/ honey. Service was super friendly and equally as fast. For those of us commuting N and S on 75, we tend to find places right by the expressway. This is about 4 miles to the east and so worth the stop! This will be a regular stop to break up the commute. Even though they are known for their strawberry shortcake ( which was good and huge) they had about 6 varieties of pie on the dessert menu. Trying all will be added to my bucket list ;) read more

Reliable Turkey Dinners for decades and decades. My family has been stopping here for years and years on the way to our annual fishing trip in northern mi. We stopped again this past summer and as always the Turkey Roost quickly served us oversized portions of the classic thanksgiving dinner. I even noticed they now carry biscuits with sausage gravy! We have a funny family story where, being a good southern boy, I had requested biscuits and gravy to a confused and befuddled MI waitress. When our meals came out I was handed a plate of biscuits smothered in turkey gravy. lol. Things have changed, and chain restaurants have helped homogenize things. I am happy to say you can now order biscuits and sausage gravy! However - I do not recommend it. Keep it simple and stick to what they do best - Order the turkey dinner! read more

what could be better than thanksgiving every day of the year? i have been stopping for turkey dinner on my way up north since i was a little kid and really nothing has changed. the waitresses are always super nice, the food always comes out super fast, and then i'm super full. it's basic turkey, mashed potatoes and a veg with gravy and biscuits. best way to spend a sunday on the way back from a boozy up north weekend. love this place and will continue to stop in every time i go up I-75. love, juston read more

A classsic for 50 + years. Just as it says: it's all about the turkey. They serve a great homemade turkey plate with potatoes, stuffing, veggie and little cranberry for under $8. Plus homemade rolls and pie (yum). Service is awesome: average wait for food under 10 mins, even when packed. Well worth the 10 min drive off xway for a awesome meal. read more

This place brings me back to my childhood. But for someone out of town this isn't the highest quality of food. But when I am making a trip up north it's perfect. The food comes out in like 3 minutes of ordering and its the perfect comfort food. I am sad the mashed potatoes are fake but I still love coming here as a long time guest. The food is always good and the service is fast. We usually have full turkey dinners on our table within about 8 minutes after sitting down. The restrooms are clean. Make sure you try the strawberry shortcake for desert if you can save room. This is a great place to stop when your going up north down I75. The prices are hard to beat as well. read more

Stopped in here last Tuesday with my daughter. Her first time and my first time in over 30 years. Still some of the best turkey dinners this side of Thanksgiving. I agree with some other reviewers that the dressing is too moist and the serving of mashed potatoes is too small, but that is a small price to pay for for a great turkey plate. I started going to the Roost in the early 60's when we would stop in on our return trip from Rogers City. Same pink building and outstanding meals. You can get a few variations of the turkey plate that come with buttermilk biscuits, dressing, vegetable, mashed potatoes and cranberries. You can choose between all white, all dark or both. About the biscuits, best I have had ever. Flaky, huge and tasty. The service in this visit was superb. All please and thank you. Cannot wait to take a day trip so we can eat here again. This is a definite go to in my book. read more

Over many years i've had the pleasure of having a good, and very quick meal there. I love the order placed till its on your table has always been under two minutes. The dressing is soggy but so what. And canned veggies (yep) get over it. I suggest just leave a good tip, and hurry back. read more

Good home cook'n! Closest thing you can get to a homemade Thanksgiving dinner. Pies are also really good. Best flavors sell out so get there early in the day. The turkey plate is the go to meal if you want to try out everything they have to offer. If you don't like mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, or Turkey don't bother stopping. read more

Got some soup to go tonight. They had THE BEST carry-out bag. I've never seen one like it. Plastic (the paper bags used to get soaked) with two compartments for the containers. The soup stayed upright and closed. The entire bag was more stable. Perfect!! read more

We went on Friday and had the perch and the shrimp dinners. Don't be deterred by a full parking lot. They know how to move customers in and get them fed. Friday is the only day they serve perch, shrimp and cod. Perfectly cooked with great fries and cole slaw. Service is perfect. Quick and pleasant. Every other day is turkey and beef. We've been going since I was a little girl! (I'm 33 now) I took my kids for the first time today. It was so good, fast service and beats eating fast food. We stopped on our way home from our vacation. Turkey was excellent and the hot beef sandwich was great too! Everyone around us ordered strawberry shortcake, we just couldn't do it. My friends and I decided to stop on our way up north to Greenbush, MI. Our service was great, they even provided ingredient information for our dairy-free friend. The food was great and delicious and was exactly like a homemade Thanksgiving meal. Unfortunately my friends, who all ate turkey, got minor food poisoning (I did not because I just had the salad). I guess the other reviews follow. Very bland. Everything on Turkey Plate was bland. Not sure if anything is even homemade. I am guessing everything is out of cans. There is no sign to sit yourself when arriving. The cashier didn't acknowledge us. We had to say something before she did. She was not the nicest person. The service was what I expected for the outside look. It is like cafeteria style without the line. It feels more like you are pushed to order, eat and get out. The bill was put down on the table rather quickly and drinks were not refilled right away. We were asked if we wanted a refill during our meal. Of course we want a refill. We are still eating!! Wow! Lol. Definate cleaning is needed as well. I would go back for quick food to table. It will be some time though. Please get some heavy cleaning done. You have a lot of staff but they do not serve as a team. They do definately clean tables off as a team though. Also, a larger plate would be helpful. Piling on to a small plate makes it hard to eat. read more

Went there for the first time yesterday and was really excited it about and looking forward to eating a homecooked turkey dinner. However what I got INSTANT mashed potatoes & canned gravy. With such a limited menu and really thought the mashed potaoes would be fresh and made from scratch at the very least. Everything was very bland as well, I kept adding salt and pepper but it still didn't really help. A little onion powder or something to add some flavor and gone a long way in helping add some kind of flaver at least. Needless to say I won't be going back its not worth the trip. read more

I was seated quickly and my food was the standard you'd expect. Hot fresh and home cooked flavor. The reason for the 5 star review? All of the above, but my server Morgan did an amazing job. The breast on the sandwich was huge--would make two meals for most people. And while I appreciate the generosity, a hunk of meat that large takes away from the pleasure of the meal. I don't enjoy fighting to keep the meat between the pieces of the bun between each bite, The breast and the bun were a bit dry. That said, the service as impeccable. Two people were working the bar, where I sat, and they regularly checked in to see if I needed anything, and we discussed the beers on offer a bit. I probably shouldn't write the place off based on a single sandwich. The Cabin is just interesting enough that I will probably stop back.

I remember stopping there as a kid on our way up north and it has become a long running tradition. Their food was good and we chose to support a local business and we liked helping to support someone local. Recently they posted a notice that they are backing bills to increase commercial fisheries on the Saginaw Bay including tripling the commercial licenses and allowing commercial fishermen to take 30% of the available walleye from the Saginaw Bay. I can tell you first hand this will cripple this fishery and the local economy that is supported by the fisherman coming from all over the state to fish and spend their money here. Look at Big Bay de Noc or Minnasota's Lake Mille Lacs and see how commercial fishing destroyed top notch walleye fisheries. As a life long fisherman I find this appalling as this will almost certainly lead to the crash of a fishery that we as sportsmen and sportswomen have supported through license fees and through our tackle taxes. I will not support ANY business that supports the commercial fisheries special interests. read more

This place is amazing! Great food, great prices and superior service is everything you can expect when you visit this place. After having a delicious lunch, we went back to our car to discover that one of our dogs had pooped on the driver's side seat while we were inside. The staff was so accommodating to us giving us paper towels, bags, and even a wet towel, which they said we could keep, tongue in cheek. I though it all away in dumpster. Without their help in with this disaster, our trip back to Troy from Grayling would have been much stinkier and much more messy. We cannot thank you enough for the great food at such a fair price and for helping us in our time of great need. read more

Owner of this restaurant (Todd) allows his older male employees to harass his young female employees. Then the said male (Brandon Luna) harasser takes to social media to laugh about forcing a young girl out of her job! (See picture attached) Sad to see a place of business conduct theirselves in this way. DO NOT RECOMMEND supporting a trash-y business like Turkey Roost. Many other well-deserving restaurants out there these days. read more

Stopped there on our way up north to try the Friday perch we heard about from a friend. We were not disappointed. The fish was light and tasty, and no oil at all. Great homemade biscuits, and a perfectly cooked baked potato. This will be a normal stopping spot for us now. read more
