As a native New Yorker, I was temporarily transplanted to South Central Pennsylvania for…read moreIndependence Day 2026 holiday weekend which was an enjoyable, phlegmatic time that I (at long last) achieved equanimity state of mind. I have never shopped at a Wawa prior to this visit. I have never seen a Wawa in my native metropolitan NYC area either. I did research Wawa corporation for a better understanding including company history. I remember my undergraduate days of researching corporation history and purpose for my group marketing projects with fellow classmates. Wawa is similar to 7-Eleven as both are American convenience stores (Wawa is chain and 7-Eleven is massive franchise), but I can ascertain that Wawa is certainly an upgrade with gas stations. Wawa originated in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and has gas stations including public restrooms. There are brochures, pamphlets and maps of local area attractions which is what I have grown very accustomed to seeing at rest stops of major U.S. highways. I almost always pick-up these local area maps and printed area attractions pamphlets. There is a cork board of community events where many local business plaster to affix their business cards. Wawa store #0263. This Wawa is located on West Lincoln Highway (aka Route 30) in Parkesburg, PA. My party was headed West towards Lancaster, PA. My party filled our car with gas here. Gas price was $4.56 per gallon and still waiting for downward trajectory. Wawa contains capable employees. Wawa has more food options including candy and significantly well stocked and organized. Wawa is also large retail space. I decided croissant sandwich and fresh blueberries as an in-between meal, but not dinner. Wawa uses an automated change dispenser at checkout counters to increase speed for transactions and reduce human cashier errors. I have also never seen change dispensers utilized in any NYC businesses. I did obtain my sales receipt. There is Dramamine (anti-motion sickness over-the-counter medication) which was too late to purchase to reduce my motion sickness of being in a car for four continuous hours on the road driving. I was listening for a strong predilection and can relate with the lyrics of "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons playing during my brief fleeting time in this Wawa. "It's time to begin, isn't it? I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit I'm just the same as I was Now don't you understand That I'm never changing who I am" WAWA!

Let me put it this way: if you put a Wawa's in this location there would be dancing in the streets and no one would miss this place in a thousand years of Sundays. That said, it has some rural charm and stocks fresh sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, an array of coffee choices, and a few other things that raise it up beyond a mere gas station. It has a new-fangled blend your own milkshake and smoothie machine. It almost achieves a country store vibe, with a mixture of friendly local kids and slightly unhygienic food safety (I'm looking at you, unrefrigerated cup of milk for coffee when the dispenser isn't working - the bottles of disgusting non dairy creamer are on ice, WHY NOT YOU?). The gas pumps are modern and work fine. Parking and maneuvering is a bit tight in the forecourt now that the restaurant has (helpfully) expanded a permanent beer tent into the former parking area to offer outside seating. Also sandwiches - to include breakfast types - and other hearty snacks.

They were out of Starbucks canned coffee, which was one of the items on sale, and the cashier helped me find a substitute while still honoring the sale price.
