My mom has been using TBI for years and her lawn looks like a carpet. She has the best looking lawn in her neighborhood. Even in her very shaded backyard the grass looks amazing. Based on my mom's success with TBI, my husband and I began using them last year. At that time we had 50% grass and 50% weeds with some bare spots. In one year we are up to at least 75% grass. There is much less crab grass and dandelions. My husband sprays the violets which has helped a lot. Best of all the grass is much thicker. The other day a neighbor walked by and commented that we have a beautiful lawn. Our expectation is that it will take another two years for our lawn to look like my mom's grass carpet. It takes time. If you have ever put a shovel in the ground here, you know that it is dense clay. Whenever we have had a question or concern, TBI has been very responsive. read more

TBI has now been servicing my lawn for 3 years. They provide seasonal lawn treatments and shrub treatments for disease and spider mites. While I'm sure you can get someone who'll charge you twice as much and maybe do a slightly better job, if you're someone who wants basic treatments for disease and weeds that is performed reliably and knowledgeably, TBI is hard to beat. My lawn had horrible crabgrass, clover and other issues, and after two years they are gone. They do annual aeration and seeding as part of the package. Basically all I do is mowing now. Dealing with them has been fine. Once, I had blocked the driveway and they couldn't get the aerator through. They called me, and were able to reschedule until I came back later in the day to move my car. They noted a disease on one of my shrubs and successfully treated it. I've really had no problems with their service and the price is excellent. read more

I heard about TBI from a workmate who uses this lawn care company. After a few years of amateur help from friends and my poor attempt to bring my yard back to life, I decided I would call TBI in August of 2016. My yard was dying and year-after-year, it was being overrun with weeds. After a few years of seeding, fertilizing and watering, I turned to TBI. I was extremely hesitant to pay a service to do what I thought I could do; even though I consistently failed. However, this was probably one of the best calls I made as a new homeowner in the Bellview/Belle Haven community. They came out and provided me an estimate; which surprisingly was extremely reasonable. Based upon their quick visit, concise documentation they provided along with a detailed treatment strategy, I knew this was likely a good decision. After two visits, they strongly urged me to spend a few more dollars to allow for a soil sample. I was very hesitant, so I called them and after speaking with them, I decided to go ahead and pay the extra money for the analysis. Please note, I was now slightly skeptical as I thought to myself, "Oh this is just a gimmick to get more money from me now that I've signed a year-long service agreement." Sure the soil sampling analysis was $300 but it was a cost I am glad I made. After repeated visits, they serviced by yard based upon the results of the soil sample/analysis from my yard. Within two months, my yard had not only rebounded to where it was when I purchased the home in 2009, but the weeds were almost gone and they bare spaces were starting to fill in. I received a notice from them on 3/29/17 asking me to renew. Because I had referred one or two customers (something I will continue to do), my bill was only $32! Sure I see the other folks' reviews where some of them aren't flattering. However, my experience with TBI has been excellent and I truly appreciate their bringing my yard back to life. As a homeowner, where the market isn't guaranteed to go up consistently and where people spend thousands to upgrade and renovate their bathrooms and kitchens, TBI, for thousands less than what a small renovation would cost, provides value to our home due to the treatment and yard health they continue to provide. Because of TBI, my curb appeal looks fantastic and therefore provides immediate value to our home. read more

Similar to other reviews, I started with TBI last year with good initial improvement on my yard. That continued up until the last service in January where I happened to be sitting in my office and saw them come in. They literally walked to my door, left their paperwork and invoice and kept it moving! No treatment what so ever. Due to my travel schedule I could only call them to complain a few weeks later and the 'service manager' that spoke to me blamed me for calling in late and said there was nothing they could do. She was very happy to see me cancel my service which was very interesting. I actually referred my neighbour to them which in hindsight was a mistake. Be very careful dealing with them and do not expect basic customer service. read more

After many years of TBI lawn care for my grass and shrubs, I terminated them because they repeatedly failed to diagnose the type of weeds and insects present in my yard. They also failed to use the appropriate chemicals to eliminate or reduce the problem. I followed their recommendation for watering and even had a sprinter system installed to make sure the law was getting enough water. If they did soil tests, I was unaware of it. read more

I hate to leave a negative review but I feel I have no choice. We started a contract with them last year where they came and did the treatment for brown spots and weeds. At that time they did a soil test for the PH. The levels were off which we were told is why our lawn wasn't doing well. We paid extra for them to put more chemicals on to bring the levels back up. I noticed the lawn wasn't improving. Decided to give them another shot this year but the results are the same if not slightly worse. My backyard has weeds and the entire side of our lawn is pretty much dead. It's the front that's embarrassing. The front is half dead and the weeds are just as much as they were last year. We made sure to follow their watering and cutting directions but it hasn't made a difference, I have far more dead spots than we ever have. Our neighbors use them and their lawn looks great which is why we started with them but for us it was a much different result. read more

The guys are awesome. I have been using them for 7 years now (started in 2012) and they have been great. My lawn started out a disaster and has improved with every passing year. I have had numerous issues with various weeds over the years and when I call about them, TBI has been very responsive. I had a terrible violet infestation in my back yard and they jumped on it with a special treatment with no extra charge. In the course of a few weeks I went from an infestation to not a weed in sight as they kept coming back until it was resolved. I have used numerous lawn services or the years - Scotts, ChemLawn, and Natural Lawns - but I was never pleased with the results. TBI has be impressive. What I like most about them is seeding, overseeding, aeration, etc. is all included in the service price, so you know what you are in for each year. The other guys charged extra for everything other than just the treatment. You can't go wrong with TBI. I have recommended them to two friends over the years and they are happy as well. read more

I chose TBI for my lawn care needs after several unfortunate attempts with other companies. TBI was/is responsive, they are helpful and friendly and my lawn looks much, much better than it did with the previous company at a greatly reduced cost. they are a local company that seems to place the emphasis on their work rather than fancy marketing efforts. I think we live in a tough place for weeds, and while the quest to eradicate crab grass will never end, I would recommend them to friends & neighbors in the area. Had a one year contract and told my lawn would look much better. One year later, it looks the same -- weeds and bare spots throughout. At one point they told me that I had so many weeds in my back yard because my neighbor had weeds in his back yard. Guess what? My neighbor ALSO HAD A PLAN WITH TBI! When I shared my disappointments with management (along with reasons for not renewing contract) I received no response. Seems they just don't care. We have used T.B.I Lawn Care for many years with varying results. At first, they seemed to be working hard to maintain our lawn, as time went by the service declined to the point that we canceled our service. The biggest point of contention was the Non-Existent Weed Control. After several months the owner reached out to us promising top notch service and we relented to give them another chance. A few more years go by and we once again find ourselves with a yard full of weeds. The final straw came when saw the crew arrive and I attempted to show them the problem. They completely ignored my guidance and didn't seem to care one way or the other and left. I attempted to speak to the owner to no effect. I finally spoke to a service manager and struggled to explain the situation. I realized this was just a game to them when he repeatedly said he had phone issues asking me to repeat myself. I've used TBI for several years ... and out of frustration I just terminated the contract ... or more correctly, told them to forget the renewal. Here's why: I'd give the actual lawn work 2.5 stars - it's ok, but nothing special. I've never been satisfied with the results of any analysis on 'samples' taken from the lawn. There were clear chunks missing after the late-summer service .. but what became of that I have no idea. Crabgrass and wiregrass still flourishes in my yard and there are bare spots. Eh, not bad enough for me to change before now, but my lawn would consistently rate in the bottom half on the block. So much for the pre-emergents/timing they used. So here we are 1st week of October and I receive a "you need to tell us if you want to renew" message - by mail. (Really? I just put a new credit card number "on file" a month ago!) I call. The can come do the "Fall" seeding in a week to week and half. They say "in Virginia it's warm enough for germination into mid-October". Sure. On average. But grass doesn't germinate 'on average'. On Oct 13th? "Ground temp will be too cold this year,", according to the one garden shops I just called ... "very marginal" according to another. "This is really the last weekend to ensure success," she said. "You can try it, but ...", she trailed off.) So no new grass for me until next fall. Worst part? They just didn't seem to care. I have to echo Cyrus M. I guess business is good enough for them that they don't need to express any concern for the customer at all. I don't like lawn care ... don't really care too much about the grass at all, really ... it's just not my thing. I just don't want to have it look bad and embarrass my neighbors. So to have me now kill a couple hours finding a new service ... that's saying something. -JR read more

I signed up with TBI a few years ago now. Initially my lawn started to look better. However, over the past year, their service has just fallen off. Last year they accidentally dumped a bunch of chemical crystals in the middle of my back yard burning a large hole in the grass. This year, the weeds have overgrown so much, there is no grass in many areas. I have about 3 quarters of an acre. I am done with them. Just cancelled, They were not even interested in why. read more

Disappointing. I have them for the 5 times a year service in Alexandria, VA. Their idea of fall planting is to do it on August 15th when it is 100 degrees out. How about October or November??? Will not continue this contract next year. read more
