Scheduled an appointment and showed up 30 mins early. Waited over an hour just to be told that the doctor cannot see me since their internet was offline. Understand that this is not the doctor's fault but there could have been more clear communication when I first checked in. The front office staff are not professional every time I check in for my appointment and when I call the office they reply rudely. They do have one medical assistant that check vitals she's extremely nice and professional. When I arrive for my appointment I have to wait 20-45mins til I'm called in. This review has been long overdue. I have seen Dr. Tung Nguyen for years and he has never failed me. He's a very personable doctor, which is why there are always patients waiting to be seen by him. He's very knowledgeable and does not push medications, as expected from a D.O. With Dr. Nguyen, I have never felt rushed, even if my appointment is only 10 minutes. I have always left the office with everything taken care of and all of my questions answered. I have also seen one of his covering doctor's Dr. Bui. If you're looking for a personable doctor, I would not recommend her. She's very to the point, which may come off as rude to most. I only see her when I am in absolute dire need. She's not a bad doctor, but her social skills could use some work. There is just no compariable substitute for Dr. Tung Nguyen. I do not have much to say about Dr. Nguyen's staff. It's hit or miss on a daily basis. On a good day, you will get the best treatment and will feel welcomed, but on bad days, the ladies may come off as flat rude. However, I always keep in mind that I do not come to see the front desk. I come to see Dr. Nguyen, so if my experience with him is great, then I have no complaints. Dr. Tung Nguyen is fabulous. He's a big-picture guy. I had some issues with blood work - half of my doctors said I was bleeding internally - and the other half said no. Dr. T said - you know what, let's get a few tests to rule out the internal bleeding. I'm betting that that isn't it. But we have to get the tests to make sure. And, he was right. My anemia is solved with time and better nutrition. I also asked him about some back spasms that were taking me out. He did some x-rays to rule out disc problems and nerve impingement and told me to do stretches. To really stretch the muscles - go on YouTube and get some videos. And it worked. Sold. Great guy, funny, personable, and really listens. Not in it for the money. The front desk is very efficient - I am seen within 5 minutes of the appointment time. I get appointments through ZocDoc. Very easy. Takes insurance, so not sure what the 'Cash Only' statements are in other reviews. Don't let the odd location throw you. read more

Dr. Tung is good but if you can't see him or he's busy just go somewhere else because Dr. Gina Bui didn't even check me out she just asked questions and fill out papers. She even wrote my birth date wrong this women didn't even bother to touch an area under my arm that I was having issues with. Also, the wait is ridiculous. Called in the morning to schedule an emergency checkup for my mom because she was experiencing immense pain. Person on the phone tried to schedule her the following week and claimed that their schedule is overbooked and their only working doctor has a meeting at 4 in the afternoon. Had to emphasize that it's an emergency, but they told me the best they could do is the following day. Okay. So I should let my mom experience the pain until the following day? Awesome logics and ethics there. Confirmed with them that they can't see an emergency patient because their schedule is overbooked. Going to try my best to avoid this place from now on. I ended up taking my mom to the O'Connor Hospital instead and the staff there provided her with quality care. read more

This review is for Dr. Tung (not Dr. Gina Bui). My parents and grandparents have been going to Dr. Tung Nguyen for 10+ years, even before he opened his own clinic. He's a great primary physician because he listens, does his best to help, and respects his patients. He can speak both Vietnamese and English which makes it easy for communicating. This location is not for emergency services, but for regular doctor appointments. It would be best to go to the ER or urgent care for emergencies. The clinic is clean and easy to find. Front desk staff does need some improvements with communication and they seem to be working on that. read more

I try not to go to the doctor unless I'm really sick which hasn't been the case for the last 10-15 years. Now that I'm older and all these other health issues have been more prevalent, I've been trying to get my health checked. The last primary doctor I've been to was kaiser and I felt like she wasn't personable. I know a doctors job is diagnose and help keep you in good health but when you also are personable it makes patients feel more comfortable. I went to Dr. Tung last year because I came back from Cabo with a stomach bug. Probably from drinking their water. I had constant diarrhea and called their office to see if they could take me in. Although it was extremely last minute they were able to get me in right away. I didn't think I needed to ever go back because again I didn't really like going to the doctor. Some health problems came up and so I made another appointment to just basically get a check up. I came in today with a list of questions. He was super nice and he seem genuinely interested in anything I had to say. He didn't rush me or make it seem like he was just there to diagnose and leave. He was funny as well. The only downside is they only accept cash. The front desk staff and MAs were super friendly and helpful. I'm actually surprised this place has bad reviews. Probably because most of the people who come here are the older generation and don't really know how to use yelp. read more

I called the first time to get my mom an appointment they said they dont accept Anthem blue cross, after a few weeks I tried to call again same voice answered and I asked the same question she said yes they do accept Anthem blue cross, I asked for appointment they asked if my mom sick of something I said only for regular check up then she said can you hold, I waited 5mins nothing, then 10mins they just hung up on me. This office is a bunch of fraudsters. I've been there in January and just noticed their charges on my insurance account. I've already raised this issue with my insurance provider, and they are doing investigation. I visited this doctor's office on January 6 for a yearly exam. The whole experience was horrible (about that later), and I didn't even get to see the doctor, I saw the nurse... But here is what charges I encountered on my account: 01/06/2014 Wellness Exam, New Doctor (this is a valid charge) 01/07/2014 New Doctor Office Visit 01/07/2014 Doctor's Office Visit, Long WTF are the last 2 charges a day later?! What "long" visit?! Yeah, it was actually long, because I've been waiting in their lobby for more than an hour to be seen, though I had an appointment. Do I have to pay for that?! Regarding the previous reviews about justification of long wait time because "there's only one dr. Tung and a bunch of loyal patients. He's worth the wait" or "With the abundance of patients Dr. Nguyen has, he is definitely doing the best he can to help speedup patient waiting time", other doctors also have many patients, but they don't disrespect their patients' time. AND I was not seen by Dr. Tung, I was seen by the nurse, after a more than an hour wait, though I had an appointment with the doctor. Total scam! This visit was actually a flash back to my childhood - Soviet Union polyclinics, where you have to wait for hours in a line to be seen by the doctor. There are only three differences: 1) I actually had an appointment at a certain time with the doctor, 2) we are not in the Soviet Union, 3) healthcare in the U.S. is not free, doctors are well-paid, and I'm actually paying for the visit with my own money, but instead of a good service, which you would expect, I'm forced to seat in the crowded room and wait for more than an hour to be seen by the doctor. And then not be seen by the doctor, but be seen by a nurse... If you are overbooked, at least call me an hour before the appointment and ask to come an hour later, or cancel it. Is it too much to ask to respect my time?! The conclusion: absolute scam and fraud! Absolute waste of time! Would not recommend this place to anyone and will avoid it in the future! read more

Honestly giving 5 stars to Dr. Tung Nguyen only. I saw the other doctor there but she was really rude and spoke like 5 words to me. The nurse there who takes in your height and weight is really nice as well! She always gives me compliments LOL. As for Dr. Tung, he is so friendly, caring, FUNNY, and personable. I've seen him twice now and he has listened to my medical concerns and always explains things to me and gives me tips. He also gives me tips on school and relationships LOL! He makes me laugh the whole 15 minutes while prescribing me medicine. The downside is that if you want to schedule an appointment with him, you gotta wait 10-14 days because he's all booked up. (He says this is because the older people always book him in advance). I had to wait 2 weeks to see him this time. I have been going to Dr Tung Nguyen for about 3 years. I could understand the frustration the first reviewer is coming from. Of course, nobody likes to wait especially when you have an appointment. But a review could not be solely be based on the wait time. With the abundance of patients Dr. Nguyen has, he is definitely doing the best he can to help speedup patient waiting time. If there was any room for improvement, Dr. Nguyen is well aware of the situation and is making all attempts to better the experience for all his patients. Yes, I do dread the wait time but I rather wait it out to see a Doctor that I completely trust. Dr. Nguyen truly cares about all his patients and that's why I continue to go see him as my primary doctor. His examinations are pretty thorough, and he makes you completely comfortable to ask any questions. He takes his time to listen to all your concerns and does not rush your appointment time. Both my fiancé and I enjoy the time we take to see him and that's why we over look the wait time. There are so many other doctors to go to but it's so hard to find the right one you feel most comfortable with. I can't recommend enough how much Dr. Nguyen has helped my fiancé and me with all our medical needs and we will continue to go see him! read more

Dr. Tung has been my mom and my family doctor for the past 10 years. Though the wait time is long (bring your cell phone) up to 30-45 minutes with an appointment and the front office is short and curt in the front (they run a very busy practice), we still come back to see him for all of our medical needs because he has good bedside manners and truly care about his patients. Since his schedule is very busy, it takes on average 10 days up to 2 weeks to schedule an appointment with him. I have kaiser and because he's out of network, I still pay cash to come see him. If you are not asian, realize there is a cultural difference with the front office. Their mannerism is curt, upfront and to the point and won't be engaging with you to see how's your day's going. All the bad reviews and yet he's one of the busiest doctors in San Jose. Thank you Dr. Tung for taking care of my family for all these years. Please don't retire. read more

DO NOT GO THERE!! Worst experience ever at a doctor office. I saw Dr Bui. Is she even a human being? No emotion or passionate towards the patient. I thought fine, just one time so I can get a lab test to find out what wrong. The nightmare started when the bill came from Bio Reference. Tu Nguen works at the Dr office provided the wrong billing codes to Bio Reference, which in term was not fully covered by my insurance company, I have to pay out if my deductible which should not be the case. It is abt 4 months now working with Tu and Bioreference trying to get this fixed. Tu is not responding to my emails now. I checking now how I can report this? Medical Board? read more

So this is going to be my first review and unfortunately it's going to be a bad one. First of all Doctor Tung is a great doctor. I tried calling around to find a clinic or hospital that would take me in because I was going through a lot of pain because the inside of my mouth was swelling and it was just painful to eat or drink anything and I found his clinic through yelp and I was able to get checked up. He's easy to talk to and get along with and very attentive to detail to address your medical problem. He prescribed me some antibiotics to take for 7 days. Now here comes the bad part. After the 7th day when I was finished taking my antibiotics I started noticing these rashes that started to show up on my arm so I called the clinic and I told the nurse at the front desk and asked if I could speak to Doctor Tung. She told me he was busy and asked me what my concern was. I told her about my symptoms about the rashes that were starting show up and multiply fast around and I wasn't feeling so well and I asked her what should I do in the mean time. She told me to call back in like half an hour he should probably free by then. So I called again and he was still busy and it's kinda getting hard to breath and she just told me to give her my phone number and he will call me when he is available... I took an antihistamine just to be on the safe side but I waited until past closing time and I never received a call back from him. Long story short I ended up in the ER and the rashes multiplied by that time along with a fever and my blood pressure rose up in the danger zone and i was hospitalized until the next day until I was at an okay level to go back home. I was thinking about making him my main doctor but after this event I am definitely not coming back. read more

I had gone to Dr.Tung due to a concern resulting in me needing to get blood work done. I was told the blood results would be received the following Tuesday. Tuesday came and I was anxious to hear my results. I waited to receive a call all day, nothing. I decided i would call an hour before the office closed. I got a hold of one of the "front desk women" and explained that I would like to know the results of my lab work. She placed me on a temporary hold, came back on the line and informed me my blood work was fine. I was relieved and carried on ASSUMING i was okay. That Friday I see that I have a voicemail from his office, the voicemail was from a woman that works at the office stating i need to come in to discus my ABNORMAL lab results. Abnormal?! Someone just told me a few days ago, now its abnormal? Ohhh it's because these people couldn't care less, they just want to rush you along, they act like people are an inconvenience. Well guess what, you're in a business that 90% of what you do involves people. Dr.Tung though, he is pretty good. He's good with his people skills. I've been seeing Doctor Tung Nguyen for a while now he is my primary care Doctor and I wouldn't trust anybody with my health other than him. He is knowledgable, thorough, and very attentive to you in his exam rooms. He makes sure you leave feeling better and knowing exactly what's going on. Not to mention he is also very kind and down to earth. If you are open and honest about your health and what's going on he will work with you to make a plan of action. If he can't help you and feels you need to see a specialist he doesn't hesitate to make sure you will be taken care of by someone else he trusts as well. I have many issues and Doctor Tung is very patient and shows true empathy and compassion for his patients. I feel 100% comfortable talking with him about anything. And his nursing staff are all very helpful and make you feel like family.
