I liked how the doctor walked through what might be causing some of the things I've been feeling. They didn't act like they had all the answers but were honest and helpful with what they did say. The assistant was nice and kept things running smooth. They looked at my history and gave some useful advice I hadn't heard before. I didn't feel judged or rushed, which has happened elsewhere. I went to action urgent care for blood work. I use insurance, there's no fees but needed to pay $50 for visit. My mom got upset since she wants me to go to the different service at my primary doctor at the location "Christopher Do, MD" which I don't want since their office admin has trouble speaking English and they also have a hard time hearing me through communication. When I did blood drawn in their place, I got a phone call from the admin saying my sugar is high then told me not to worry where I was told to exercise often and eat less sweet/carbs. Turns out the admin is a new hire who knows nothing and couldn't give me medical advice. Then a week later, I got a call from "Christopher Do, MD Office" basically saying to cut back all sugar. The unprofessional and of the last minute of inconvenience is very unacceptable for the patient. I understand the first call from the new admin doesn't know what to do but if you can't do you job properly or know what to do, maybe seek help from your boss instead of assuming something where you decide to to give unproof evidence to the patient that can lead to wrongful treatment. I learn not to be enroll in their service due to unprofessional communication. Instead I seek help from action urgent care even though I had insurance, I still have to pay more but rather get service from medical providers/nurses who knows how to understand me more and provide better communication than seeking help from a cheap cost at the primary doctor who have admins that don't know how to prepare properly. read more

I would not recommend this office. My family member walked in without an appointment, fully understanding that they prioritize scheduled patients. However, she had recently been hospitalized and needed the doctor to request a referral for a specialist. If it weren't urgent, she wouldn't have come without an appointment. When she arrived, the staff were extremely rude and told her that even though she was there, the doctor would not have time to see her. SO POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

The only reason I gave 2 stars for this practice is because of Dr. Linh - she is the sweetest and treated me during my first two visits, professional and listened to my concerns. I finally got treated by Dr. Christopher Do today for an annual physical to fully check up and to also address some skin issues I have been experiencing. He was curt, rude, dismissive, unfriendly and basically shrugged off every concern I tried to vocalize by saying I'm young and I shouldn't have to worry; he did not have any patience to listen to the concerns that I wanted to address at all. I asked to be referred to an allergy specialist for my rashes and it took so much persistence from my part to get him to finally write me up a note. The whole experience was unpleasant and made the doctor visit (an already aversive event for me) even more aversive. It's pretty hard to find a quality doctor in San Jose, especially one that's open on Saturdays. I switched over to Dr. Do a few years ago and it's been a great decision. Appointments are usually available if you call a few days in advance, no more than a week tops. Walk-ins are also welcomed, but you gotta get their right as they open if you want a chance of a visit. Although the doctor himself can be a little ... forward, he is very knowledgeable, informative, and gets straight to the point. It may be a little much for the average person, but if you can take a few shots (pun intended), he's not so bad. The PA, Christina, that comes in as his substitute on some occasions is super friendly (and has much better handwriting). I'd recommend her as well if you can't put up with Dr. Do. read more

I don't quite understand why Dr Christopher Do got some bad reviews. The first impression on him was very professional, efficient even knowledgeable on different types of chronic illness. He was very nice, kind and was willing to spend a lot of time on me even on my other medical issues that I didn't expect that he would immediately call the specialist to see if he could help me or not. He also gave me a list of neurosurgeons whom I need to have consultation with. I have never met such a terrific pcp in 32 years! I am blessed to have him as my family doctor. Why WOULDN'T I give my family doctor of (basically) my entire life 5 stars???? Never had any problems with Dr.Do. He is genuinely caring (like all doctors should be), and compassionate.... like all doctors should be. I agree that he's a little "harsh" with his words, but I think it's because he's using simple, clear, english for you to understand. I rather have a doctor that's straight forward, than one who's beating around the bush with all these medical terms. I think his staff is great most of the time.. but it can definitely improve. I think he just keeps them because they've been with him for so long. I feel like he should have at least someone who is fluent in English there as well so there's not a lot of confusion. read more

I am glad that Dr. Do accept Santa Clara healthy family and Anthem Bluecross now so my other family members can come here too. Dr. Do is a good doctor always patient and listen to what you say. This review is for the receptionist ONLY not sure how doctor is but I'm sure with these reviews he's great, but doctor needs to get some new receptionist or At least train them to be professional!! I called to make an apt and they kindly said they had an open available at 4pm I agreed because it fit well with me working then she puts me on "hold" then comes back and says ok today at 2:30... I told her I couldn't and we agreed at 4pm she said put me on " hold " again and then said alright tomorrow at 4pm so I just said okay I'll take it which was odd to me. Gave her the insurance number, but it was my mistake I gave her the expired card not my new one told her I'll give a call back when I find it she said ok 10 mins later she calls and tells me she's gonna cancel the apt because the insurance number is wrong? I had already told her what I was going to do then I give her the new number and she kept insisting it was expired when it clearly wasn't so we called our insurance they clearly said it doesn't expired until the end of the year and called back she kept fighting me on it, which was the weirdest thing then she just hung up! So I called again and the other lady just cancelled my apt, complete waste of time and super unprofessional!!! If they kept messing up I can't imagine what else they mess up on! read more

Extremely rude woman working the phones. I called to make my first appointment and she wouldn't even listen to my request as I had a genuine issue. She just rudely interrupted me and tried to get me off then phone then when I told her she wasn't listening to me and continued to cut me off she refused to allow me to speak to her manager or anyone else in the office for that matter. She claimed they were busy but then changed her tune and said they didn't want to speak to me. I am shocked at all the negative reviews. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Do for the last 3 years and he has been a funny, amiable doctor. Unlike other medical groups I used to go to, it doesn't take over 1 month to schedule an appointment. I also have a high deductible HSA so his office visits are not overpriced like other places. He's never been rude or condescending, he does crack jokes -- people just have to lighten up a little. He's always answered all of our questions and never seems to be rushing us. I went here to see Dr. Do because I was looking for a new primary care physician. Usually, I stay away from reviewing doctors because I don't usually like to ridicule people in the health profession, but when he doesn't have the same common courtesy, a bad review is what he deserves. As a recent grad from professional school, I do look young to be considered a "doctor" and maybe that was why he thought it was okay to speak to me the way he did. Needless to say, I still deserve the respect from another health professional. I came here and saw Dr. Do for the first time for an annual check-up. Very straight forward as I am healthy. Rather than having some light banter and getting to know me as a patient, he continually ranted about how mundane my field is and how "well, it's too late for you to change now". Really? Is that the type of respect you give to another doctor?! I would've been happier if he didn't try to have a conversation. All in all, I cannot tell you how his diagnosis and care is. Sure he gave me some acid to make it go away, and it didn't and he thoroughly explained why. I stupidly asked for a breast augmentation instead of a mammogram. LOL !! Great, caring doctor. He is one of the very few doctors out there that actually spends time listening to your problem and giving actual advices. Wait time can get pretty long if you don't call in ahead. Otherwise, with an appointment..the wait is about 5-10 minutes. The staff is very friendly as well. I come in all the time due to my bad allergies, skin allergy to food allergy to even seasonal allergy. He is always patient with me and makes a typical doctors visit less miserable. Though the last couple of times I have been there, I only saw the physician's assistant name Grace. She is also amazing, very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Overall, great doctor accompanied with an amazing set of staff. It's a win win! read more

Never had any problems with my family doctor. I have been going here for years. He communicates clearly and was able to spend time with my dad to ensure he was getting the neccessary check ups and follow the proper medications. I took my dad to see Dr. Christopher Do hoping it would be easier for my dad to communicate with a Vietnamese doctor, but I was extremely unhappy with our experience. If you are looking for a kind, empathetic doctor with good bedside manners, LOOK ELSEWHERE. Dr. Do hardly offered us any helpful information--I had to prod him to tell me further details about anything. I felt like he wasn't listening to the information I was sharing about my father/was not taking it as seriously as he should. He also cracked a joke that I felt was inappropriate. This is the first time I write a review on yelp just to tell you how great Dr.Do is. I found him on yelp after reading the previous reviews. I has been visiting some Vietnamese doctors in San Jose but no one makes me satisfy until I met Dr. Do I think he is the best family doctor in San Jose. He speaks perfect both Vietnamese and English, so you will have no problem express your sickness to him. The most important thing is he spends time and listen to me and take my sickness seriously. My sister has been very sick. When I took her to some other doctors, they said it's nothing serious and just told her to take Tylenol or Advil. Waste my time and money to see them! Then, when her sickness got worse, I gave another the try and took her to see Dr.Do. Only then, we found out what kind of problem she is having. The staff is very friendly. This place sucks. i went for TV screening and they are considering it as a doctor's visit and billing insurance to take advantage. Staffs members are rude and does not communicate properly. None of these or any 'Internal Medicine' Dr. were certified by Internal Medicine Board such as Kaiser Permanente or Blue Cross Blue Shield or else, they all are regular MD family doctor and they do not know how to treat colon cancer or liver cancer or whatever organs inside patients body but only send patients to a real internal specialists. This doctor is the best! If you're looking for a general doctor or Vietnamese doctor for your parents, this is the place to be. He honestly helped me 2 years ago with my anxiety in school to graduate college. I just took my mom to him because her previous doctor was an asshole and useless to her. If I could give 0 stars, or NEGATIVE stars, this practice would get NEGATIVE 54983476934 stars! If you don't want to read the rest of my review, then just read this: DON'T COME HERE!!! Dr. Do lacks professionalism and tactfulness. I came to see him back in May. He's rude and rough in how he talks to his patients. As a new patient, I haven't built that rapport with you yet so don't speak to me like that. I come from working in a health setting and I know patient care is our #1 priority. I just didn't get that sense when I came here. If that isn't your priority, then what are you doing being a doctor? What really drove me to write this review was when I faxed over a medical DMV report for him to fill out that I needed for work. I called the next day to make sure they received it and they did. The receptionist, Lan, said it takes 10 business days for him to fill it out. OK, fine but I did need it ASAP. I probably followed up every day to light a fire under her to get him to fill it out. By the end of the two weeks, she just said I gave it to him but he hasn't done it yet. ERRR WELL, can you get him to do it? I need it as I've stated multiple times before. So she called me back 5 minutes later to tell me that he won't fill it out and I need another physical. I asked why, because I had just gotten one in May and it should be good for a year. She said, she doesn't know but that's what he said. Well, if you don't know, then can I speak with the doctor so he can explain? She said no, and if I wanted to speak with the doctor then I needed to come in for an appointment and pay. She said call back when you decide and then hangs up on me. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Then, she calls back 5 minutes later, and says "actually, you had another doctor fill out part of the form, so he needs to fill out the entire form." (referencing to the vision portion filled out by my optometrist). Obviously, he is not a doctor of internal medicine as stated by the OD part after his name and CANNOT fill out the form. Now, the doctor is just an idiot who obviously doesn't take the time to listen to his patient's needs and concerns. I feel like if I had gotten a proper explanation like my exam is only good for an X amount of months which is why you need to come in again, I would have understood. But the fact I kept getting the runaround from the get go, then his staff would just tell me "they don't know", and "they're not the doctor", and "that is just what the doctor says" are unacceptable reasons for simple questions. I'm not asking for a diagnosis here. I feel like he needs more competent staff members because if you're going to be the middle man between the patient and doctor, then you need to know and back up what you're saying. You're not the doctor, but you either need to be able to explain or put me through to someone who can explain. As an MD and business owner, you should be aware of how you treat your patients at all levels. I haven't been checked up by Dr. Christopher Do but rather I went to the Doctors who worked for him. They were all great. Then they all left his practice one by one. One day I had to get a refill for prescription meds that I've already been taking for 1 year. Dr. Do refused to give me the refill unless I went in for a check up. The reason why he wanted me to come in for a check up is so he can bill my insurance for a visit. I had to fight tooth and nail just to get a refill for my prescription. I'm Vietnamese myself and I'm embarrassed by these MDs that make you come in for each and everything just to bill your insurance or to charge a copay for seeing you. read more

Doctor Christopher Do could benefit well from going back to medical school and working more on his bedside manner. Like most vietnamese doctors in the area, he frequently presents himself as a shallow physician more concerned with insurance compensation than with providing adequate patient care. He spends his days treating old members of the local asian community that looks up to doctors, and his ego has ballooned to the point where he will openly criticize and mock the career choices of younger patients in what seems like a typical bedside conversation. I originally made an appointment to treat a standard ear infection. During our conversation about my symptoms, he suddenly began asking him about my career aspirations and what I wanted to do. After telling him, he began to display condescension, stating that he felt my aspirations were 'typical', and 'wouldn't make a lot of money'. I was astounded as well as shocked to see that someone of the health profession could be so arrogant and rude. I didn't ask for his opinion, and found his input completely irrelevant to the purpose of my appointment. If this is how he establishes connections with his patient, then I hope he sees a sharp decrease in business soon. I was also disturbed by his fixation on money rather than patient care. He reminds me a lot of my parents (who are typical asian parents) who pressured me to go into medicine because of the prestige and money. Thanks for the advice, but not everything's about money. The doc prescribed a medication that made me break out and left me with many acne scars. When I asked to speak to him about the cream that he prescribed me, the front staff wanted to charge me a regular doctor visit! He is the defintion of malpractice!!
