Dr. Do has moved his office location. He is now at 1569 Lexann Ave., Suite #206, San Jose, CA 95121 Dr. Do is like an uncle now. I've seen him for a long time. He is very matter-of-fact and direct, which I appreciate in a doctor. I'll often hear him say to me, "you don't need that" when I freak out about getting some test or shot I heard someone say I needed. That is a lot better than doctors I've seen who try to charge me for anything they can think of. I think he is sensitive to the fact that I'm on a limited student healthcare plan and is quite reasonable. He is a doctor who is an attentive listener. Imagine that. A doctor who listens to you. Trust me, I've seen docs who would not. He keeps very thorough records and will often be typing up stuff about the visit while you're there. The result? I used to go to Dr. Christopher Do because my parents go there. The place is a dump (it's next to a coffee shop where girls come out wearing thongs) and his staff is rude. They go there because he didn't collect co-pay, but I guess you get what you pay for. I came in for a cold and he asked if I had numbness in my hands or feet. I didn't see the connection. He then performed a test on my hands and told me I didn't have carpel tunnel. But I came in for a cold. My parents were shocked when they received the bill showing how much he charged the insurance. What a quack! Now I go to see Dr. Trang Do, she used to work with Dr. Christopher (I don't think they're related though). Her office is soooo much better. Dr. Do is wonderful DR! However, there is one particular receptionist in the front, the oldest one, who acts as a barricade for patients trying to see him. I walked in last Thursday and ask to see the dr. Because I was running a super high fever, coughing so hard I felt like I would wet myself, and congested. First thing she asked me was if I ha insurance; I currently don't. Then she said that I would need to pay 40 (at that point I would of paid double to see the Dr) but there was no room for me! I was told to leave and then come back but I still wouldn't be gauranteed that I would see my dr. I asked for another day to see him but she said he's full! I left and went home to rest it off but it was torture!!! I finally crawed to the phone and personally called Dr. Do on Sunday night and he advised me of what over the counter drugs I could buy to hold me over till the next day and see him right away. So I've been sitting in the waiting room for 1.5 hours even though the dr said he would see me first thing. :( by the time I'm seen I will have made everyone in the waiting room sick with what I have! :( she makes me feel like a second class citizen becuase I have no insurance. Dr. Do is a nice doctor but I have to decide to stop seeing him after all those years because of the front desk services. It was two times they could not find my appointment and recently happended to my husband's. The last time I had called to make an appointment for my husband was couple weeks ago. I called 2 hours before coming and here we go again "we don't see your appointment". What the hell is that? I told the lady that was impossible. She put me on hold for 15 minutes. Boy, this is a sad state for Vietnamese Doctor. I called in to get prescription for my mom. His receptionist told me to get the pharmacist to call in to get the prescription. Huh? WTF? I needed to get my pharmacist to call to get the prescription. This is like the 10th same prescription I need to get from the same doctor. I told her it was ludricious. So I told her to write down that my mom want that prescription and ask the doctor to sign. Then she said, ok, if that's how I want to do it. WTF? Are you serious? Is that not how they do it at any doctor office? Then I told her I want the prescription fax to the Walgreen a block away. She said she needed the Walgreen phone number otherwise she can't send it. OMG? Are you serious? I can't be the only person that ever ask for prescription to the Walgreen A BLOCK AWAY. Doesn't a doctor office know the fax number and phone number of a Walgreen a block away from their office? This is so sad. Furthermore, the receptionist kept on insisting that she can't help if I don't give her the Walgreen contact number. read more

So far with all the Vietnamese doctors out there in SJ, this is one of the best. I had the experience of working with him as a med student and learned a lot from him. I would absolutely recommend any med student to work with him and get clinical skills practice. He's easy going and spends the time to teach. As for patients, he spends time listening to patients and offers reasonable medical management that I don't see enough in other offices. Our current health system is spinning out of control with fee for procedure services and unfortunately, too many of the SJ doctors take advantage of that system. Dr. Do does a great job in doing necessary things out of need for the patient and not for himself. It's really too bad that my parents don't live close by enough to drive to see him. read more

For all of you who are in need of someone who actually cares. This is the doctor. I have been seeing lots of doctors since July of 2011 after my surgery and no one has gotten it right. I was in so much pain that my parents could not stand it anymore and took me to see him. You have to understand that I have two different neurosurgeons that I was seeing and a family doctor in Los Gatos. It was amazing. He listened to me and understood what was happening. He got the correct medicinal combination on the first try and i was in relief right away. It was perfect and he had no hesitations about prescribing me medication that other doctors were afraid to give me or gave me in small quantities so i keep coming back so they can charge my insurance. When i started seeing him I did now have insurance and income but he took care of me without hesitation and questions. I mean isn't that why doctors become doctors? To actually care for patients no matter what circumstance they are in. I am still seeing him and he is helping my brother now also. My brother has been seeing different specialists but Dr Do is making him well fast. I thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr Do and bless you sir. I brought my grandmother to this office for a check up and was very disappointed with the service she got. Dr. Christopher Do was not familiar with my grandmother's medical record and didn't even know what medicine she was taking. He spent less than 5 minutes for the whole visit, then ordered his staff to do a bunch of procedures on her in the office. We were shocked when we saw how much he charged Medicare for the visit. read more

I have nothing against Doctor. He is my family doctor from 2001. I even sent my loving hubby to his office too. I agree with Frances, desk services is too bad. Last time, my hubby came there for annual check up and blood test. It was 4 pm and doctor convinced him taking the blood test although he has schedule for early morning 2 days later. We all know blood test must be done after 12 hours no drink and no food, right ?? My hubby believed in doctor and ok for blood test. After that, we got the test result from lab and it showed his triglyceride over 1000mg.Can you believe it ?? Normal level can not exceed 200mg. We all scared to death, seriously. But desk office did not call him in till I had to call asking for treatment. They claimed they did not receive the result yet and I had to fax over the result. I asked him going for another blood test and the result is fine. Triglyceride is 67. not 1000mg as pre. result. We both agreed we never come to his office no more. What will be happened if my hubby keep taking the medicine for nothing ?? read more

Worst experience I had after a simple check up at the doctor office. The receptionist doesn't know what she doing. She making a mess with my insurance; I had to make so many phone call and telling the same story over over. I don't know why I have to go through so much stress for that; I think my health just got worst just because of it. I want to start off by first saying that Dr. Do is not particularly a bad doctor in the sense that he will take the time to explain his treatment plan to his patients and work with their best interest. My reason for knocking off stars with Dr. Do is that he lacks professionalism and the ability to politely socialize with patients. Judging by other reviews and my own experience, it does not seem to be an uncommon occurrence to hear an earful of condescending remarks from Dr. Do. I sat in the office for 20 minutes with my mom and within that short time frame he made condescending remarks about my age, the fact that I'm the youngest in my family, my career choice as a dentist, assumed my bad vision was the result of going clubbing too much (I don't even go clubbing and there is no scientific evidence correlating the two anyway), told me I showed up with my mom because I'm a clingy baby (I was there because she asked me to come and help explain things to her), and ranted on about his career was so much better. What Dr. Do lacks is understanding. I'm sure he is greatly admired in his community for his quality work, however, is ego is overly inflated and he needs to understand not everyone desires to be like him. read more

Dr. Do was not my doctor. He is my mother's doctor. My mother was recently involved in a car accident. I came to his office for him to fill out some paper work so I could stay home to take care of my mother. I just needed him to fill out one page of my paper work. What a horrible staff he has!! And what kind of a doctor who charges you $10.00 to fill out just for one page of the document? If the document has 10 pages then I have to pay him $100.00!!! And what is more, doctor Do would not fill it out right away. His staff told me they would call me in 3 days when the paper work was ready. I waited, and my mother called his office the 4th day, 5th day, 7th day, & 8th day. Every time my mother called, the receptionist would say the same thing that doctor has not had the time to look at it yet. Finally, I could not wait any longer, I needed to submit my paper work to PFL so I can get paid while staying at home to take care of my mother. I also needed money to pay for living expenses. I then came to my mother's surgeon who did the surgery for my mother at the hospital. It was the day when my mother had a returned appointment with him. He was a white American surgeon and as nice as he could be. His office and his staff are absolutely wonderful and professional. I asked the receptionist regarding the paper work that I needed, and she knew right away what I meant, She told me the nurse/medical assistant would fill out the paper work, and it would be ready for me to pick up after the doctor has seen my mother. In 1/2 hour later, after the doctor checked my mother's wound, my paper work was ready for me to pick up at the receptionist's desk. She also asked me if I needed anything else. I told her that I also needed a letter from the doctor stating I would be out for 3 months to take care of my mother. She then typed the letter for me as I wanted. She even said if I needed anything else, or another letter, just called the office and the letter will be ready for me to pick up immediately. What was more was that the office did not charge me any money to fill out the paper work. I am not sure if it was right for doctor Do to charge money to fill out any paper work (even though I am not his patient, and it does not matter if the paper work is for his patient or patient's relatives). I have to check with the medical board to see what he's been doing is right or not. Vietnamese doctors are sucked, they think they are too good and make patients wait for their no-free service while american doctors are much better, can be trusted, care deeply for their patients, and definitely more professional. In addition, why a vietnamese doctor doing a secretary work such as filling out paper work himself while american doctor has his own staff doing the work, and all he has to do is to sign his name on the paper. Is that because doctor Do does not have the staff who can speak good English?? I would not even give his office a star, (but I was forced to put a star in order to post this) and would never recommend his office to non-Vietnamese patients...I would definitely be ashamed with their service... read more

Dr Do has been treating me for high blood pressure for over a year. I monitor my BP daily with a Panasonic arm cuff. I keep a record of my BP. When it did not go down after first trying Dr Do's initial prescription for two months, I sent my records to him. I did not hear back from him. On one occasion, a prescription ran out and it took Dr Do over a week to respond to the pharmacist's FAX. I had a subsequent appointment and was prescribed an additional medicine. Not only did my BP continue to stay high, my legs swelled by four shoe sizes and sores broke out on my legs. When I wrote Dr Do a letter detailing these conditions so that I could have record of my contacting him, he replied in a snide letter that he did not treat patients by letter and suggested I get a new doctor.
