    My Tumi Platoon Sling
    Dan D.

Michael was very helpful with my purchase today. I called ahead to find out if the Platoon Sling was available; thankfully it was. He monogrammed it perfectly too. I absolutely love it. Now I can carry a water bottle with my sling pack and free up my hands to take pictures or surf on my phone.

Tumi is located next to this awesome fountain. :p

Friendly service. Seems like they have been there a long time, doing what they do. I got new wheels…read moreon my travel pro luggage. But it was very expensive. They charged $38 dollars per wheel. And it ended up being $80 to replace 2 wheels which took 5 min. Later I found out those same wheels cost $13 for both on Amazon. So the labor was $67 dollars for 5 min. Which I thought was a bit pricy. But they have a great selection of travel gear and bags. Everything you can think of. And the people are very nice. Just the price is expensive if you need luggage repaired.

After our recent trip to Alaska, I found that one of my suitcases, which I've had for a long time,…read morehad sustained sufficient wear-and-tear type damages beyond what would be feasible to have repaired. My husband had done business previously with ILC Travel Outfitters in North Salt Lake, Utah, so that's where we went. The person who helped us was super-knowledgeable, and took her time with us, showing us what was available in the types of luggage we were interested in. She was a wealth of information and answered all of our questions. The line that we selected from are custom built for them to their specifications. We noticed that there had been specific upgrades to the previous models, based on customer feedback, and the staff's experience with repairs and such. They have a fantastic selection of luggage, totes, bags, carry-ons, accessories, toiletries and personal items, and everything you could think of for travelling. Their website, ilctraveloutfitters.com, shows pictures, videos, and information about the things they carry. They have a 3 year guarantee on zippers, handles and wheels, and a 10 year guarantee on materials and workmanship on this line of luggage. They also specialize in outfitting missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for their 2 year assignments in far-away places, where they will be living with the things they can carry in a limited space. In addition, Travel Outfitters, provides excellent repair service at reasonable prices. We also found out that they donate used luggage and bags to The Road Home, a homeless assistance place in Salt Lake City, for the people that come there. My smaller suitcase was still quite good, but would not fit in the new bag, so we opted for buying both suitcases and donating the old ones. We were very happy with our experience there, and will go there again when the need arises.

Gregory Mountain Products - Checking our of our room in Florence Italy. As on all my trips for the last 40 years my Gregory pack is on my back.

I just returned from 2 weeks in Italy and Greece. With me was my constant traveling companion of…read morethe last almost 40 years. My Gregory Mountain Products "Day & a Half " pack. My pack has never failed me and I have put some miles on it. We have crisscrossed Europe. Been to South and Central America. More places in Mexico then I can remember and a few I don't want to remember. Canada. All over the USA homeland. 12 trips to Hawaii and going again in December. Going to the Havana Jazz Festival in 2017 and then probably to Egypt after that. It's had one small repair that was totally because of my stupidity. Fortunately I learned how to sew when I was young and stitched it up as good as new. I stopped by Wayne's original shop looking for an oversized day pack about 1977. I stopped by often when in the area. The Day & a Half was perfect! I just didn't care for the colors he had on hand and wanted dark brown. He said he would build me a couple, one for me and one for my Wife. I went by a few days later to pick them up and they were beautiful. Everything Wayne Gregory built was a hand made work of art. He took a set of steel letter dies and punched our names into the leather tabs on each pack. Now I understand Gregory Mountain Products is owned by Samsonite and the annual sales of GMP is around 35 million dollars. Thank you Wayne Gregory

Since they couldn't, they invited me to choose one of their current backpacks as a replacement. They're sending it to me right now, free of charge. I am blown away by the stellar service and the way they honored their lifetime Guarantee. I am making sure to tell everyone I know about the way they stand behind their products -- in fact, I have to admit to evangelizing a bit at REI the other day. A woman was trying to decide about a Deva 60 and I stopped to tell her that if she bought it and took care of it, she would have a pack for life.

I love Scheels. I like how they are organized that somehow makes shopping comfortable. The layout…read moreof the store is great, from clothing to camping to the cafe to hunting to toys. There is a great selection and variety. I mostly go for the toys. There is a specific toy that I seek and this is the place to find them. While their toy department is not huge and is just a relatively smaller department within the store, what they do have is quality stuff, things that people actually seek out. Lego sets, RCs, educational children's toys, games, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent selection of disc golf discs. They even had some of one of my favorite brands, Kastaplast! Either Kastaplast is finally getting some mainstream recognition or Scheels has a good sporting goods manager. Speaking of which, Ashton is a great guy and truly thinks of the customer first and the customer's experience. There were even Zuca disc golf carts there. And they were all on sale. Another aspect to love about Scheels are the things you can do there like mini bowling, shooting arcade, and the Ferris wheel. You can have a date there for cheap! And then go to the cafe for a meal or treats. BTW, the jerky they sell there is excellent! All the employees there are very helpful. In some small ways, Scheels is better than Bass Pro, Cabela's, Sportsman's Warehouse. In this competitive market, small ways is what stands you apart. I really like those other stores, too, but Scheels just feels different. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Sorry to do this but things are very different at Scheels than in the past…read more I spent 30 minutes in the Kuhl department and no one even offered help or bothered to say hello. (I had several questions) 10 minutes in golf department. Same story. 20 minutes in BBQ and the two guys there seemed more worried about the display looking great than offering help. I've always loved Scheels but I am very disappointed with the current lake of service or lack of. I hope things improve! (I only spent $250)
