This place is awesome, maverick loves it. Only "complaint" when they have a class they for the most part let kids wait for their turn which is fine. But not when it's completely packed and they have sit for several minutes in between. I would think there's a better format or solution. She is moving more, better, with greater awareness and grace. And she is having so much fun! She just squeals from joy when she plays with Jacob. We have done some summer camps here. Kids LOVE LOVE LOVE it! My only concerns: with so many girls in their camps, they have no female employees (with the camps we have been to). I think in this day and time, this is something that should be a MUST! Especially with bathroom breaks and things of that sort. This review comes out of thoughtfulness for their business so that nothing ever happens because we do love what they do and the energy they bring! I have been taking my young kids here for several years and have hired Tumbles for birthday parties on location and in a park. The parties are a huge hit - every time! I have taken kids to Gymboree and to Y Gymnastics in the past, but Tumbles is so much better. The gym begins and ends with Scott. Period. He's the owner / operator and he's there nearly 24/7. He cares. It's that simple. We've paid more and we've paid less for classes elsewhere, but we always come back. Why? Scott. Other instructors can have all the credentials they want, but if they don't care about kids, understand kids, or are used to working with, pushing, and supporting kids...they're not going to succeed like Scott does. My oldest is 3 1/2 and has been going to JW Tumbles for over 2 years. I truly believe the class has helped her in a lot more ways than just burning off energy. She gets to explore and test her physical limits. Pushing herself to climb higher and take risks always. And, with the different age groups, she can keep taking class as she advances. My youngest is 1 1/2 and she loves Scott too. How do I know? I see her imitate "Mister Scott" all the time at home. I know the stretch routines and some of the bits that he uses to entertain the toddlers and she knows them. Ask her to Stretch and she immediately starts to stretch. Than she says "twist" and starts the next exercise in the class warm up routine. She also constantly does a fake sneeze to get things to fall of her head, because that's what "Mister Scott" does and it always makes her giggle. Scott works with kids. Love kids. And has 4 of his own. You really can't go wrong trusting his know how and love for children. His new location is a little less convenient at first, but once you know where it is, you'll appreciate the much better parking situation. The old strip mall location was easy to find, but that parking lot had tiny spaces and was always packed. This location is behind the Boys & Girls' Club and above their Gym. You have to walk a little bit to it, but I much prefer it to the old location. Plus, after class, there's a nice, recently rebuilt, playground across from the parking lot. Tumbles, playground, picnic lunch, and then a drive home with two exhausted girls that fall asleep so easily. What's not to love? read more

We had my daughters 2nd Birthday Party here and it was a blast. Their facility is extremely clean and inviting. They know how to throw a well organized party with age appropriate games that the kids have fun but that are safe. As a mom it was great to have a birthday party where they offered helping hands so I can enjoy the party as well from decorating and set up help to meal prep to clean up. We had my daughter's three-year-old birthday party this past Saturday at Tumbles, and it was simply amazing! We invited 12 toddlers and their parents. The 2-hour event was filled with activities from beginning to end, so the kids were always distracted and had the opportunity to participate in all sorts of fun and whacky games. Scott has been doing this for several years now, so he's a pro, and it definitely shows! His assistant Steve was also high-energy, very attentive to the toddler's needs, and helped Scott build and tear down gym apparatus after apparatus. The kids were continuously stimulated with music and different obstacles. Each of the toddlers decided whether they wanted to partake in group activities or have independent play. It was truly a great mix of activities. All of the above in a very safe gym environment. The kids were constantly supervised, but even if they weren't, it would be difficult for them to get hurt with all the padding and protective gear surrounding each activity station. At the end of the event, the Tumbles crew takes care of all the cleaning (with the food mess and disposing of the used paper plates/cups), and you go home with an extremely happy toddler! It was fun to watch my daughter climb around at JW Tumbles. She loves the place. The staff are enthusiastic and friendly. You can see that is having tons of fun. If you have a daughter like mine who is fearless and headstrong, this is a great place for her. I feel more at ease to take her to JW tumbles than to the park. We LOVE Tumbles Encinitas! Scott and staff are always wonderful with the kids and our kids love their time there. The location above the Encinitas Boys & Girls Clubhouse is a huge bonus for after school activities before and after Tumbles classes. Over the past year + our kids (age 10) have had fun, healthy afternoons taking gymnastics, camps and fitkid classes up to 4 afternoons a week. Our kids have developed increased strength, balance, and confidence while having a blast in a positive and supportive environment. My 13 month old recently joined a class for his age group and we just love bringing him here. Scott and Jacob are so wonderful with all of the kids and we can tell that they genuinely care. Our home is all tile flooring so its really nice to bring my son to a safe, clean space where he can explore, climb and interact with other kids his age. We arranged to have our daughter's 3rd birthday here. It was exactly like Scott described it would be over the phone. Since it was for a 3 yr old, we get the guest to under 7 yrs old to make sure everyone was entertained. Most of the guest were in the 3 to 5 yr old range. One kid was 18 months, a sibling, who had a blast. The wasn't a dull moment, until maybe the pizza, when everyone caught their breath. The team there did a great job to keep everyone engaged. If there were to be on con - which is even a stretch (hence still giving 5 stars) - is ample room for parents while watching kids. Not a whole lot of space, most comfortably sat on the floor. One of the best parts was the "snowball" fight. Unique in my opinion and brought a smile to everyone's face - kids and parents alike. Would definitely go back. Do to the size of the location would definitely recommend keeping the number of kids to 15 and under, helps with the number of adults too. read more

We are home from hosting our son's third birthday party here earlier today, and we are absolutely elated over how it went. I believe these folks used to be in a different location, but they are now on the second floor of a building behind the Boys & Girls Club off Encinitas Blvd, so don't be confused when Google Maps starts telling you that's where you want to go. Once you get there, you park in the same lot as you would for the Club, but then take a short walk past it to find JW Tumbles tucked behind it. The room isn't huge, but more importantly, it is colorful and clean and exciting... just begging for your little one to run and jump and climb and roll to their heart's content. The other thing that makes or breaks these types of parties is the staff, and Scott has the most amazing connection with young people, effortlessly leading them through games, songs, dancing, climbing, and exploration. He makes it look so easy to give 15 toddlers the time of their lives for two hours! His helper Jake is just as in-tune with the kids, and helped make the party an exceptional experience. As any toddler's parent will tell you, a critical part of a child's development during their young years is understanding what their bodies can do and how to use it to relate to their environment. With JW Tumbles, you can see it happening right before your eyes, and it is a wonderful thing to see. Booking a birthday party here is about as easy as it gets. I was able to book online, email with Scott to adjust the timing to fit our schedule better, and then drop off all the decorations the day before. The morning of, Scott and Jake were there well before our party time, helping to set everything up. The things they had planned for the the party guests (15 kids) were absolutely perfect for the 3-4 age group, and yet the siblings who attended and were older (from 5 up to 8) had just as much fun. They had music, and props like foam balls and gauzy hankerchiefs and ziplines; games, stories, and songs. We took about 15 minutes toward the end for the kids to eat and do the birthday cake, and then there was a "snowball" fight with a final red carpet walk to send the kids off on their way. Jake was incredible helping to clean up afterwards, packing up right alongside us and even getting the boxes back into our car. There are only two things that I'd say you should be aware of. Firstly, there is a staircase to get up to JW Tumbles, and no elevator. Anyone who is wheelchair bound or has a hard time with stairs is going to have a conundrum on their hands. Secondly, there isn't much extra seating, so while the kids are playing the parents can sit around the tables but when the kids are eating, the parents will pretty much have to stand around. Overall, given the experience we had, I am really digging to come up with these "negatives" and even as someone who can't climb stairs and can't stand for long, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. I'm almost sorry I haven't been able to host more parties here. It's pretty much a guaranteed success, and seeing the joy on the childrens' faces made it one of the most memorable events we've ever had. read more

We've been going to Tumbles for about a year. At first I thought it was pricey, but now I know it's worth every penny. The great teachers have taught my son how to do many things, and he's now physically advanced for his age. It's a super fun environment and I encourage anyone with a little one to give it a try and stick with it--you'll see results. The owner is awesome and easy to work with. The employees do a really great job of engaging all the little ones and helping them develop new skills and even better--confidence. My 20 month old is now doing real deal somersaults and loving it! Eddie, I'm not sure when you went in exactly...but during the later part of June they have kids camps. Not the normal parent participation or independent classes for the children. I have been going to this J.W Tumbles location for 11 years now! I was a nanny and her parents had me bring their daughter...then when I had my own children I started bring them as well, starting at six months to current six years old. (I also have a 3 year old and 4 month old) Mr. Scott and his staff are all wonderful, energetic people who love children and take pride in their jobs. The class is always structured, and very organized. There are times during each class that they allow the children to have "free play time." The children love this time to play on their own. It is very upbeat, and a positive children's gym. Mr. Scott is very encouraging to all the children and makes the class so much fun! My kids are constantly talking about gym class and get very excited to go. We have also had J.W Tumbles come to our home to host a party for my 3 year old sons birthday and it was a huge hit!! It was great!! I have several friends who bring their children their as well and we all would say the same thing about this Encinitas location. Good job Mr. Scott and his staff!! My 2 1/2 year old daughter absolutely loves this place, as well as Scott the instructor. He is lively, friendly and is wonderful with the kids even when they can all have a hard time sitting still and concentrating sometimes. My daughter tends to be that kid that is still learning the skill of waiting her turn and he is great at handling her. It's fun to be involved with the kids class at this age. In the Twos class, they have a great mix of free play time to run around as well as structured activities where they learn a new "gymnastic-type" activity (like swinging on the rings, somersaults, etc). I was looking for a place for my very active kids who are 2 & 4, I heard that JW Tumble offers open gym time. I've been to the YMCA for open gym and it can be a madhouse. I have to keep my eyes on my kids the entire time so they don't get lost or trampled on in the mayhem. At J.W. Tumbles I was able to relax as my kids were able to run, jump and climb inside their cozy studio. The instructor on the floor, Jacob, was entertaining as he had both my son and daughter in stitches with the silly games he played with them. This children's gym was a cornerstone of my daughter's formative years and the center of so many relationships she still maintains today.
