Too many homeless people getting inside the study room to sleep or to listen to music in high volume. This library and the Joyce library at 10th street are the worse. I thought Tully community library was a little better than Joyce, but they are just the same. You both lost the meaning of being quiet places to study at. Libraries are not supposed to be sanctuaries for homeless people. Leave that to the city and the community centers. This is another library I am going to stop going to. Inside the library smells. Parking looks more like a small forest of uncut grass. Won't be coming back to any San Jose Branch Library again. Small book collection. Library supports all but emphasis on Asian population with ESL, job hunting and computer help. Tet festival and other programs including summer reading and exercise are featured along witSeveral after hour programs as well as McLaughlin corridor neighborhood group.H summer lunch program for kids - 18. There is a large homelesss population nearby and use the bathrooms to wash up and hang out in the library peacefully for the most part, especially in summer and cold or rainy weather. Sidewalks aa They no longer host night warming center in their community room. However, homeless sleep in front if and behind the library under eves for weather protection, lights and security cameras on tape. Wed. - Sun. There is a homeless food distribution in place in the morning 8:30-9:30 and on Sunday afternoon a shower van appears while the library is closed. On long weekends or holiday the parking lot and campus are very social' Sidewalks pressure washed in front of the library to keep the 'mess' flushed. City maintenance trucks come each morning to pick up excess trash and grounds 'tidy'. The lower ball fields gates are locked except for games to deter homeless squatting and mess. Illegal homeless camping is still there. The cold weather warming cr enter has been moved from Kelly Park in 2019-20 to Roosevelt and Bascom Community Centers. read more

Totally found my new study spot for writing my thesis! Fairly quiet near the fireplace area and has great round tables for studying or typing. Free WiFi is an added bonus and there are plenty of little knooks near the windows where you can curl up with as good book. Diversity is plentiful here, as there are all kinds of women, children, men, students and locales of all ethnicities. It's truly a community library and I love it. Parking = plentiful & easy to get in and out of The childrens section looks amazing but is not conducive at all for studying, so when you walk in the library vear to the left for the quieter part of the library. 5-stars for my new spot and hurray for bringing in your own coffee/snacks because I don't like the sound of coffee grinding and stupid Nora Jones music when I'm typing my thesis. read more

This is one of the nicest and modern libraries I've been to. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Far superior to Calabasas library, which was a throwback to the libraries of my childhood....ICK. Not a lot of parking available - especially when there's a softball game at the park next door, but totally worth it! Five book loving stars! read more

Not the best library, filled with loud homeless people. I know they try their best to keep the place as nice and quiet as possible but truly they can give warnings around so that people aren't always so loud. And the inconvenient hour on Friday? Why is it opened at 12pm? There's already not enough library around in SJ with convenient parking, this library should be opened during normal hours so that everyone can utilize the space and resources as much as they can read more

This is one of the newest libraries. Therefore, it looks very nice. It is also very clean. Much cleaner than the Alum Rock branch, which I went to yesterday. Just as all the newer branch libraries, it has an Internet cafe, community living room with a fireplace, technology center, teen area, group and quiet study areas. read more

Very cute little library. It's relatively new, very clean and organized. They have wifi, which I haven't tried yet simply cause I live 5 minute walk away. More importantly they have a real nice kids area where kids can read books, play games, go on computers, etc. read more

This library has an okay atmosphere. It is clean and quiet has lots of rooms for kids and of course there are books - so what more can you ask for? A small cafe and sitting areas are nice. There is a fire place but the few times I've went those couches fill up fast. Originally I was slightly disappointed because the selection was more limited that some other libraries until I discovered that you can request books online. This means you can request from any San Jose library and it will be sent to your local library and put on hold. That is awesome, it increases my books selection a lot. Not to mention CD and DVDs. I don't like checking out DVDs here though. The one time I did, it was too scratched to watch all the way through. That was a bummer. read more

Great Library. No Complaints. I just wanted to tell everyone about a con artist that has been trolling the front of the library. Just tonight on 11/4/09 @ 7:25pm, a man by the name of R. Torres approached me. He claimed he was drunk and woke up in San Jose, he claims he's from another city and driving his father's truck. He claimed that his brothers in jail currently and he does not have enough money to drive back home. At first I was going to help him until I remembered that I gave $20 to this man with a very similar story involving his brother and his father's truck just a year ago near Denny's on Capitol Expy/McLaughlin. Be careful of this scam artist. He tries to show you his driver license and attempts to show you a truck he's driving that's under someone else's name but I gave money to him last year! It's funny he's hitting the same area to scam for money. read more

Tully community library, first thing I have to say is that they're pretty cool for having so many different activities going on for people to participate in especially the younger kids. But the amount of noise that the library has throughout the day is crazy, takes away from the whole point of going to the library wether it be to study, read a book or even just sit and charge your phone to pass time. There are a lot of homeless that pass through here and make the bathrooms like it's their own home. They have a water filter connected to their water fountain which is a plus and little section where you can actually purchase books for the low price of $.10. I think that's pretty cool. They have a pretty good selection of books and the library overall is pretty organized and easy to find what your looking for if there is any specific book you would have in mind. Overall I do come here pretty often I just wish they'd stay open a little longer then 6pm on Friday and Saturdays. They close at 7 every other day.. also I don't get why they open so late on Monday and fridays. Monday they open at 1pm and Friday at 12pm. Would be great if they just stick to opening at 10am every day. But other then that it's a pretty chill place to hang out at. WiFi is pretty decent and they have a lot of outlets where you can charge your devices at. read more

Bleeeh, I like to study where it's quiet enough to hear the drop of a pin! You definitely won't be able to do that here. There are a lot of people swarming around the video section, so it gets really loud. They do have some study rooms, but they are really, so I feel claustrophobic. I would come back here to check out some books, but never to study! read more

I would have to say get out and get some fresh air. They don't have any wifi. However the place is clean for san jose. It wonderful if you have kids. They offer rent books and videos . The place to study and do your work are great. If you have spare few hours check out place and read and fill your mind. read more

Always too busy for its own good. There are always a lot of people at this library and it seems too small. You can reserve a room here and get kicked out after an hour because the rooms get booked fast. I think it smelled weird too after initially walking in. Can't believe they didn't build this place a little bigger during inception. Meh, I guess it doesn't really compare to the other branches I've seen like in the SJ branches. Friendly and helpful staff, The atmosphere is great with lots of nooks and secluded places for people who want to read in peace.

I was pretty shocked to find that the children's section did not have any book on early explorers. The selection was very scarce on other topics like democracy and native peoples. The staff is friendly and answered all my questions but I gave a lower ranking just because this branch does not have the variety of non-fiction children's book that other branches have. read more

I used to study here because its nearby my house but this place is super small and it gets packed her during 3- close. They have a tiny silent room which I used quite often. A lot of older Vietnamese folks come here to read their books and a lot of kids because they come after school. I don't come here anymore because MLK is way better and bigger. But it was nice that they finally build a library nearby my house. They open on Sundays which is a plus! read more

Out of the libraries I been to this is close to bad when it comes to library layout. I feel like its too dark in the library. I sometimes feel claustrophobic when I am studying there. It would make a big difference if they were to rearrange the shelf placement. read more

I must've come at the wrong time!!! And I'm pissed because I could've drove to another location but this was close and I needed to use the computer asap. Welll the lady in the tech center was very friendly and nice. But there's a class so I had to move. There's only 15 computers And If you're not in the class then you have to go to the back of the class (understandable) where there's 4 computers. I had to wait until they unblocked the security on the computer to use.. had me very pissed. Good thing I was off the computer within 10 minutes which allowed someone else to use it smdh. .. next time I'll just drive to one I'm more familiar with.. customer service was cool.. but the convince was NOT there.. peace out Tully neighborhood library read more

Nice clean library with plenty of programing books and media (cds, dvds) aside from MLK Library in Downtown San Jose. The librarians are helpful, and they do a pretty good job at disciplining little youngsters to keep it down or keep quiet. This library has plenty of parking. read more
