I came to buy some used books to bring on a first time birthday ocean cruise, and the two librarians that I spoke to were very helpful. Paperback books are $0.50, easy to donate on a ship's library . The worse library experience I've ever had! The staff is so rude and have this inferiority complex. Libraries have been transformed to be a place for all ages. Yet, my children were "shushed" by the front desk woman for giggling! Meanwhile there was a music and movement class with toddlers happening just a few feet away. Quality/Quantity - We watched you build this beautiful library back in the day. And I think this is the first time we have been here... Books, music, DVD, computers, printing ($), study rooms, etc. Atmosphere - Kid friendly, "friends book sale," tech center, teen room, children area, family area, story time, community room, quiet study rooms, group study rooms, etc. Cafe - They used to have a vending machine and now they have nothing. Free wifi. Events. See website. 85 parking spaces. Easy in and out, thanks to a traffic light. Bike locker, drive thru returns, etc. Open 7 days a week, see picture or website; Yelp hours differ. I have been attending this library for several months. At the beginning it was a quiet and familiar atmosphere. However, today it is full of homeless people. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against them, but many are just there watching videos on their cell phones, screaming, and making a lot of noise. On one occasion, I saw how one carried Taco Bell food and cleaned his fingers on the armchairs. Others only occupy tables to watch TikTok's on their cell phones leaving people who really want to go to study without a place. read more

One of the worse libraries booking a meeting room as a non-profit. The library manager is so odd assuming we are going to throw parties there because only read the funny name of our organization without even asking what we do. She gives us a hard time booking the place. Other libraries are way easier to book with better customer service! read more

Evergreen Valley Branch Libary is up Aborn road near evergreen village square. This location of prior listed years of nearby residence I hardly go to the Libary of this location. Just recently past few years since 2021-2025 I attend to this Libary for story time, and on certain occasions had my scheduled court" "paid" visitations being held at this Libary and continued outside near the center park area near by. This location has other amenities near by as park picnic tables and benches, restaurants, and other ice cream stores near in area. All locations are of walkable distance: My children and I enjoyed our visiting time out here as we would do picnic lunch sitting outside with sandwiches story time and relaxing outside outdoors in the areas. Impressive! We visited for the first time and were so taken aback by the size of this beautiful, very well stocked, perfectly organized, vast library. A lovely librarian updated my library card, then I walked to the the Children's Section- a jaw dropping huge, library section -again, so well organized, wonderful displays...friendly and inviting. We went from section to section - more impressed the longer we stayed. Quite possibly THE finest library we have encountered in the Bay Area. This review is for the weekly 11am kids music on Saturdays with "Bing Bong". We use to love saturday music times with the two previous librarians before covid hit. They always switch up routines/songs so that it wasn't repetitive. Bing Bong plays the same song every single week with the same dance movements which is repetitive and very boring for the kids. She exclusively left out my son who is autistic. She sorts of ignore him during the dance routines. She would ask other kids their name so she can make them a pin but never once asked my son (or us) and he's been here several weeks. Please train your employees to be more sensitive to special need kids. Sad to say this won't be our weekly event anymore. read more

I been Evergreen Branch Library since 2006 for 17 years ago for rest of my life! I brower some DVDs, CDs and books!

I like going there to check out the DVDs especially the blu-ray collection. They have a great collection of DVDs to check out always. I wish though that they had more Lucky Day (new DVDs available) and I wish more available in the book sale area. I also would like to see more seating areas in the adult section of the library. The World According to Noelle Allergic Girl's Guide to Life It seems as if this library is always busy! The parking lot tends to be full most of the day (with tons of cars). I came here once to check out books because I was in the area. They have two options for returning books- the book drop where you drive up with your car and deposit the books or the book drop outside where you can get a receipt for the materials you are returning. When I was a kid, my parents would take us here, and I remember it being incredibly run down. The remodeling of this branch definitely brought it out of the stone age with the nice architectural design on the outside, and the more advanced technological features inside. I wanna say it was remodeled within the last 5 years? In study room A, one of the table's power outlets doesn't work. It's getting a little worn down, but it's still better than what I originally had. I like the computer lab setup in the middle of the room when you first enter. If you have your library card number, you can get on the internet without having to bring your laptop. Anyway, I don't go to the library as often as I should, but it's a nice play to be if you have to work/study. (except for the rude people who walk into a study room that you're in without knocking or asking if it's okay). read more

I got my San Jose Library card! hahaha Living in Mountain View all my life this is my second library card as i recently moved to San Jose. I wanted to feel like Im truly part of the community and plus i love libraries better than laying around at home being a slug haha I came in here yesterday and a lady helped me fill out my info on the net and had me come up to the information desk when i finished to get my temporary card (as of now) She told me that all needed was a proof of address and a photo ID. of course i had my photo ID but i still need to come back and show them a proof of residency. because i had just moved, i haven't gotten much mails, they're all mostly junk mails. so i went to Safeway today and signed up for a membership using my new address. Going back to the topic, Back in my hometown there was only 3 libraries I can use my card to and i needed to pay 2 dollars for a card which was reasonable i guess in that moment. until i came here and got my free library card that has 23 branches! TWENTY THREE! i am yet to check em all out. I can never study at home because I get super distracted by having the option of sleeping in bed or have a binge on Netflix! Therefore, I find alternative places to study to keep me away with all of those temptations. Anywho, they have plenty of tables that includes power outlets. The WIFI speed is great, and i never had any issues. Noise level - Holy, i thought this was a library, not the DMV. Let me break down some incidences while i was trying to study: -People are having loud side convos. Kids are running all over the place playing hide-and-seek and the staff are not really addressing them. Had babies crying everywhere. -There was this one guy that kept sneezing and clearing his throat like an ogre. For some reason, this guy kept clearing his throat LOUDLY every 5-7 seconds (literally). I was hoping he would stop or at least lower his sneezing and clearing his throat, but he continued for a good 2 hours. He tried to clear his throat by drinking diet coke (explains why he kept clearing his throat). Forgot to mention, he was drinking TWO diet cokes with the size of TWO liters each. I have never seen someone drink so much diet coke at one time... doesn't that beat the purpose of "diet"? -There was this man, who was sitting down at one of the lounge chairs. All of a sudden, you hear him having a conversation with someone.. not next to him... not 3 ft away from him.... you guessed it, across the library! Not talking in a low tone of voice, but actually yelling! Not a great place to study if you are looking for a quiet area. read more

Always, always came to this library even before it was re-modeled, and I loved coming here as a kid. But ever since the budget cuts on the opening of certain libraries, the hours has changed, and it's not opened on weekends, boo :[ Overall, they have changed their book drop off where you can just put it into a machine which is located in front of the library, and get a reciept if you wanted it or not, but i would recommend it, just in case there was a mistake on the computer saying you owe them a certain amount due to late turning in books/dvds. If you're too lazy to get out of the car to drop off the books, they do have it right down the building, you can't really miss it at all. This location is always full, or maybe because of the weekends being cut off. Tips to keep in mind: 01) Come early around noon, because it'll be packed in the near afternoon. 02) They have changed some dvds to 2 weeks instead of one (really good deal!) 03) If you have any trouble with your library card, they'll help you out in a jiffy. I love libraries. Then again what is there not to like about a place that trusts you until you prove otherwise. Can I borrow twenty books....sure why not, can I borrow a whole season of Rome on DVD....sure why not, can my 5 and 7 year old borrow DVDs and book....sure why not. Plus this spot put a huge playground in the back and is within biking distance from the house on a creek trail so the kids do not have to ride on the street to get here. I actually like the environment of this library. Everything is quite new, and clean. People are very respectful of the library and the amenities. Quiet and nice for studying. Not my usual branch but I was meeting a small group to work on a project last Thursday morning. I asked at information desk if they had a spot for us to meet. I was told that because group study rooms were not already booked that we could go ahead and use Room A. Not 30 minutes into or work, someone entered the room and told us to leave! She said that she had just booked the room. I explained that I had spoke to information desk and they told us to just go and use this room. Person said she was library employee and because she had just now went on their system and booked the room she could kick us out. Fine but why did the information desk not tell me to book the room in order to use it. I would have gladly done this. Instead our work was disrupted when we were displaced. read more

I feel incredibly lucky to have this library close to us. The children's/family area is very large compared to a few other SJ Libraries Ive been to. First, the outside play area is great for both toddlers and bigger kids. They recently put up a fence which keeps them from running away. Only downside is that there are people who will smoke near the grass which is pretty rude since there is a playground RIGHT there. anyways. They have tons and tons of books for kids. My kids enjoy story time, some of the readers are better then others...but its always been a positive experience read more

Though parking is horrible especially during peak hours, I recommend taking your kids to this library. Their children's/family place is a great for the kids to get lost in books. They do offer a reading club on saturdays from 11:30 to 12:30. Not only that but they have a mini park right next to it! read more

I enjoy coming to libraries. This is my choice library when picking up materials. It's newly renovated just like all the other Libraries in SJ. It has a little cafe inside. However, beware of all the asians at the dvd section as they are rummaging through all the dvds and they are on it like cats and dogs. This library is right by my house and I am sooooo appreciative that it is! I'm so used to libraries being kind of loud just because of all the people and the kiddies running around. Although this library is kind of loud, they have a closed off section called a "quiet zone" where there are separate chairs (comfy lounge chairs) with a desk attachment. You could plug your laptop in and you're golden. I'm used to reserving rooms in order to study and dragging the boyfriend along for the ride but for this place, I don't need to! :) Hooray! read more

This library is great because it accommodates everyone! There are a range of vietnamese, chinese, korean, and American movies and books. Really great to bring your kids to sit down and study since there are study rooms. Only thing to complain about is that it gets super packed towards the afternoons and the kids get rowdy, but overall I've had nothing but good experiences here. read more
