We visit the library pretty often to borrow books and to drop off dead batteries. Visited the Milpitas Public Library during school winter break to get some new books for another week at home. The book return area inside the parking structure has designated 5 min parking so you don't have to find parking just to drop off book. But there's a multi-level parking structure since this place gets a lot of visitors. I like how the stairwell in the parking structure has printed maps and images of Milpitas, old and new, on the walls. The children's area inside the library is a nice large space with plenty of books to read and borrow, and a play space that is great for babies to pre-teens. Kids don't feel like they have to be completely silent there but at the same time there's space to read and do work.

Came in on 2/28/26 with my beautiful family, we decided to checkout this library since we were in town. This library is located on N Main St in Milpitas, CA and parking was hectic inside a parking garage. What was worse was elevators not working and kind of hard carrying a toddler up and down the stairs. Otherwise this library was huge! Had sections and areas for all ages. Even had a cafe inside but the lines was long. Next time I'll find out what the hype is all about:

The children's area is recently renovated in the library. Newly added small play area for the kids with train theme. Very nicely done. Even the carpet is nicely decorated with train tracks! Nice place to bring the kids for in the summer!

This is a gorgeous library with a lot to offer - and people definitely make good use of it! When I came over the weekend, every table and booth was occupied - likely with students preparing for final exam season. They have lots of books and a good test prep section, as well as multiple information desks staffed by staff members who can direct you where you want to go. It's a big space, so you might need the pointers! This library has several book sales every year, and I was very impressed by the quantity and quality of their selection the first time I went. There are nonfiction and fiction books, a large children's book section, books in foreign languages, and more. Note that they do have a minimum credit card charge ($6 I believe). Any bibliophile will walk away happy! Check out their website for more info. There is also a parking lot connected to the library which makes it easy to get in and out. Can't wait for their next book sale!

as a recent highschool graduate, this library has been a vital staple towards my success. upstairs + west wing is for adults and east wing downstairs is kids corner. kind librarians, variety of seating, air conditioning, quiet, and free wifi. gets packed during finals though (december/may) so come at opening 10am and wifi has been broken 1-2 days at times. rly easy to apply for physical book library card at front desk. apparently applying for an account online will get u an EBOOK LIBRARY CARD only. bestsellers tend to get checked out quickly. i recommend TIME IS A MOTHER (ocean vuong) and MCCURDY's biography, both of which i managed to snag the last copy off the shelf. clean bathrooms in every corner of the building + routinely restocked vending machine near the entrance.

Super awesome library! Very Smart Selection of books and international magazine. Interesting exhibit on art and paintings. Very busy library. Hours are open quite late aka until 9pm on weekdays and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. Residents of Milpitas are fortunate to have such an amazing library in their community.

There are three libraries closer by me but I drive to Milpitas because there are plenty of work areas and plenty of FREE parking. It is also a great place since many SJPL close at 6pm, while the Milpitas library closes at 7pm. They are also open on Sundays whereas SJPL are not! You don't need a Milpitas Library card to access the internet, but I'm sure you need one to access other resources. Also, they have free masks on display at the front desk if you forget yours :)

Wow, I haven't been here in two years, but still a great learning experience with massive reading materials. I usually head out where they have DVD's old TV shows from the 1960's to the present. They have a large collection of CD's from classical, pop, rock, rap, hip hop and foreign music a bit of everything. I can sit in a quiet cubicle or go on the computer just need your library card and a pin number and you can stayed as long as 3 hours though depending on the time day weeknights it does get busy on a school night. There's a drop off by the main entrance which is more of a convience and you can print out a receipt of return books. Parking not a problem underground or the ones above.

Near the children's section there's plenty of seating that's mostly quiet, although when we visited there were 2 kids that were really loud and ran amuck and their respective moms were just on their phones and didn't really pay them any attention. Hmmm. There's a vast selection of books and the library is pretty clean although some areas are a bit worn and some places needed a bit more deep cleaning. Other than that it's really a nice facility and very colorful with nice natural lighting throughout.

Since my last visit, there has been a massive renovation done in the early 2000s and has more recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. The look is quite modern and comes off as very high tech. Definitely a welcomed upgrade to the area. However, the book return area isn't automated like Berryessa's library. Here you will use an external book drop and staff will manually scan each item. The new kind of play area layout is always welcomed by my kid. Seating is plentiful and I enjoy the tiny nooks and crannies that the library has to make reading a bit more fun for the younger kids. 5/5 stars. I find the book selection being great! The Berryessa offerings were starting to get a little repetitive so it's nice to have options.

This library is also named after a local educator, Dr. Roberto Cruz. According to San Jose Public Library's website, "Dr. "Bobby" Roberto Cruz was a leader in education, a proponent of bilingual education, and believer of Latino excellence in the Bay Area and across the nation." This library's pretty impressive in how big it is and it's also very airy and bright inside. It looks like a good quiet place to nap too. Chairs are nice and padded and conducive for sleeping, although I'm not sure you're actually allowed to sleep in the library, haha... But seriously, there's a lot offered here. Besides a huge kids section, there's a tech room, an internet cafe, tons of book stacks, DVDs, and an area with community resources posted that also have lots of seating for quiet reading and workspace for adults. All in all, this is a nicer library in a diverse and down to earth neighborhood in East San Jose and is a great resource for the community.

There's only no parking lot, so you have to park in the garage under the library on the ground floor and there's only 33 spots according to SJPL's website. That's quite limited. Thankfully, the day we came we found a spot pretty easily. The entrance is pretty impressive from the garage to the library. There's a huge glass rose sculpture that's suspended in midair, sure made me feel a little uneasy, haha, what if it comes crashing down. All kidding aside, the library is on the second floor only, it's got a kids area, a teen room, a tech room, a meeting/study room, and then a couple of bigger open areas for quite study, reading, and computer use. There's also a book sales by their Friends of the Library that's pretty decent, although some of the books were really old. All in all, this is a pretty good library. We came on a weekend afternoon so it was actually relatively calm and quiet. I see some reviews that say it gets rowdy here, but I didn't see that on my visit. A good library and architecturally unique that I might visit again.

There is a good selection of books and DVDs, with special kids and teens sections, though, because it's not the main library you may not find an exact title here unless you place a hold. I enjoy browsing and seeing what seems interesting. Some other benefits of an SJPL library card is access to County and State Parks passes, free tickets to local museums (called Discover and Go), access to Libby (audiobooks, e-books) and Hoopla (movies, TV), and the ability to request books not in their collection from across California using the Link+ program. You can apply for a library card here, for full access bring an ID and proof of residency. They have fun card choices, too! I've used this particular library when I needed to work outside of the house. There is a rentable study room and a computer lab room, plus some seating in the adult section and by the computers in the center of the library. It's not the most conducive to quiet work at tables, but it does the job in a pinch. Some might find the crowd after the nearby school is out too loud for their ideal library experience. A pair of headphones is recommended for quiet study. There is also a Friends of the Library book sale at all times in a small room in the adult section. You can pick up books and DVDs for all ages for 50 cents to a few dollars, so I always check it out. Worth mentioning is the parking garage on the bottom level of the library. I've always been able to find a spot, but it's not huge. There's a doorway from the garage to an elevator and stairs, the library is on the top floor and the special events room is on the bottom floor.
