Big Bird. Shouting at no one in particular. Good luck if you actually wish to read a BOOK in the children's section.

They just cannot comprehend that very loud toddler computers have NO place in the general library room. It is like trying to read to/with my children in the television section of Target. I have brought it up to the librarian on more than one occasion...they do NOT get it. Tonight is the last straw. The computers are spouting off to NO one and we cannot get them to stop. Finding another branch with fingers-crossed they are not like this.

An assortment of Spanish ABC books for my after school program in the Cambrian School District.

Kudos to Jeff for working with me to find the 6 books of the Spanish alphabet that I needed for my after-school program at Steindorf STEAM. The children will be learning the Spanish alphabet today and I wanted them to have ABC books to read afterwards. We were able to find enough for each one to have their own and then trade off. We got every level from a bilingual board book to an ABC specific book on words from the sea. There is even one that uses the letter of the alphabet to introduce a verb in addition to a noun like L is for "leer los libros." All this at a library that does not have a heavy Spanish population.

Spacious high ceilings inside the New bascom Branch Library

After an extra year of waiting, the Bascom Branch Library finally opened up last week. We took advantage of a family events night to pop by after work to check it out and were very pleased with the new local branch, OUR local branch library. The entrance at night is absolutely stunning and the fact that the community center with its fitness center is attached makes the space active and dynamic... nice vibes. The offspring-unit loves books and went straightaway into the age appropriate child section and buried its head into the books while the spouse unit and the self unit browsed both the kids books, and ones for our own reading pleasure. It was like going into a new book store where most of the collections were brand new and it just felt good. Fairly well attended on a Wednesday evening after dinner, but well worth the quick dinner to take the time and enjoy this library. Has quiet rooms, group study rooms, tech room for computing and a dedicated teen area for the older offspring units. Spacious and airy, though the aisles in the non-fiction area were a bit tighter than ideal as two persons searching on opposite side of an aisle woudl not be able to cross each other without yielding to another. That all said, it is a really nice library and one we will plan to come back to regularly now that there is one so conveniently located.

    Puppets to play with.

Our family has been coming to the LG Library for many years, even before they remodeled in 2012…read more This library is beautiful (both inside and outside), the librarians/staff are friendly/helpful and their restrooms are always clean. When my daughter was little, she loved reading in one of the cozy upholstered circular reading nooks in the Children's Room. Besides books/audiobooks/DVD's/CD's, you could borrow park passes, various kinds of board games, puzzles and kits (such as stargazing telescope kit, pollinator kit, ukulele kit, gardening kit, and sewing machine kit.) Recently, I've noticed that you could even borrow an induction cooktop. They also offer free 3D printing (1 per month), and drop-in tech help. They have a seed library as well. They have a technology lab, and you could reserve study rooms. The library also hosts different events for adults and children. I attended the "Summery Vegetable Success" event in the Technology Lab on Sunday. The speaker, a UC Master Gardener, was very experienced, and her talk was very interesting and informative! I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful library in our community.

Sometimes you…read moreneed a change of scenery to stay motivated, so I decided to try the Los Gatos Library for the first time while studying Calculus 3. I'll give credit where it's due: the library itself is beautiful. Very clean, modern, quiet, and honestly one of the nicest study environments I've been to. I ended up staying there for a couple hours completely locked into studying, and I genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere. Unfortunately, when I walked back to my car, I found a $42 parking citation because apparently almost all nearby parking is limited to 90 minutes. To be fair, I take accountability because I missed the signs. I wasn't familiar with the area and was more focused on navigating traffic, checking out the new scenery and finding the library than checking every parking post. Still, I was honestly shocked because I've never been to a library where nearly every surrounding spot is capped at only 90 minutes. For regular visitors maybe this isn't an issue, but for students, remote workers, or anyone doing serious study sessions, 90 minutes is unrealistic. Most people don't go to a library to stay for just an hour and a half. Even moving your car around becomes stressful and inconvenient. So this is just a heads up for fellow college students and study grinders: the library itself is great, but be very careful with parking because one long study session can quickly turn into an expensive mistake. 42$ for me as a broke college student really left a bitter taste in my mouth even if it was my fault. Great scenery and study environment. Terrible parking setup for students. Great library - time limit = 2.5 stars
