I loved everything about this restaurant and only wish that we had one like it in Seattle. Everything is vegan and almost everything is gluten free so I don't have to worry about getting sick if I eat there. They have quite a bit of variety on the menu and it was difficult to choose but I finally decided on the sampler platter and my mom ordered a dish with black chickpeas. The black chickpeas are typically spicy but they toned it down for her and it was perfect. My sampler had six small dishes and a dessert with rice in the middle. Every dish was better than the last and the dessert was perfect, not too heavy. The service was very attentive, friendly. The restaurant seems very clean and had a cozy and comfortable ambience. I'm no longer in Montreal, I will return here when I am back and I have already told my Montreal friends they must try this place. read more

Tula - Indian Near Me - Montreal, Quebec

We came to Tula around 2:00pm on a Tuesday. Since it was close to their afternoon closing time, they asked us to order quickly, which we were happy to do. It is a small menu, but everything looked very tasty. Between 4 of us, we odered a thali, a Lasooni Dhaniya Tofu, Vegan Butter Chicken and Vegan Tikka Masala, along with mango lassis. The waiter let us know that since it was close to closing, they would only make us tofu, not the chicken substitute. Disapponting, but we understood. The lassis came out and they were by far the best mango lassis I had ever had. So favourfu ad vibrant! The dishes arrived and all the sauces were divine! We all sampled each other's and were very happy. The tofu, however, was underwhelming. They did nothing to it, just added it to the lovely sauce. It wasn't seasoned or marinated, it was very gelatinous, which wasn't appetizing (especially for non-vegans, which two of us are, who are not used to that, but happy to try it). The place is small and charming, and the food came out quickly, and fresh. Minus points because the bathroom was actually quite dirty and needs a realy good scrub and a coat of paint. read more

Excellent meal and deserves 5 stars for the food, ambience and service! Our server was amazing and explained the thali in detail! Highly recommend this place if you are vegan and are looking for health Indian meal choices! Everything on our plate was delish! The place slowly started getting crowded for lunch since thali is only offered during lunch! Turmeric milk was the best!!! Would visit again! Parking is a bit tight around here so be mindful of that incase you are driving here read more

Absolutely love this place! Eating here is almost like being at home. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, the music is serene, and the food is really comforting. Every bite tastes like it has been made with love and care, as though your parents have made it specially for you. It will leave you wondering how such healthy food can taste so good! The people working here are incredibly sweet & warm, and it is obvious they are invested in creating a wonderful experience for every single person who steps foot inside their restaurant. Oh and the vegan chicken tikka masala is out of this world read more

Sarasvat cuisine in the heart of montreal, that too vegan! Sign me up This is a must try esp if you have any dietary needs or are exploring ayurvedic cuisine or just love your mind body soul or are adventurous... Basically all of us. Abhishek the owner is a person my Saraswat folks would be proud of. Representing the culture so well but also acing at hospitality. Come here to find out what I mean. He juggles customer's needs, kitchen times, and the ambience like a ballet dancer that's training to do this since birth! The food is so homely. It is full of flavors without forcing the oil, salt, or bulby aromats. You feel so satiated yet don't leave with a bloated stomach and a cloudy mind. The menu is beautifully curated. For a first timer, just do the thali. Be adventurous and choose the sassav, the koliwada, the ghasis. If not, do the more popular vegetarian meals you won't regret anything. Their mock/cocktails are equally amazing. 100/10 would recommend! read more

Montreal's most magical dining experience! If you're looking for a reason to book a trip to Montreal, let me give you one: Tula. My husband and I visited during a recent trip to the city, and without question, it was the best meal we had -- and honestly, one of the most memorable dining experiences of our lives. From the moment you walk through the door, the space wraps you in warmth. The atmosphere is inviting, the decor puts you instantly at ease, and the staff greet you with the kind of genuine kindness that's increasingly rare. But it's Abhi and Renata (apologies if I've misspelled either name!) who truly make this place something extraordinary. These two are the heart and soul of Tula, and their passion for what they do radiates through every single aspect of the experience. We spent a few wonderful hours there, and I mean that -- the time just melted away. Renata sang for the entire restaurant, and her voice was absolutely stunning, a spontaneous and beautiful gift to everyone in the room. Abhi, in the most generous gesture, sat down and hand-wrote a list of vegan restaurant recommendations from around the globe for us to take home. These are people who love what they do and love the people they do it for. And then there's the food. Oh, the food. We started with an Indian taco special that set the tone perfectly, then moved on to the Tofu Achari Masala curry with chapati and the Dal Sambar with steamed rice -- both absolutely spectacular. We finished with a special pistachio cake dessert that was the perfect, dreamy ending to the meal. Every single dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and intention, because it was. This is vegan Indian cuisine at its very finest. I left Tula feeling something I didn't quite expect: greater faith in humanity. That might sound dramatic, but if you go -- and you absolutely must go, as soon as possible -- I think you'll understand exactly what I mean. Don't wait. Just go. read more

Tula is one of my favorite restaurants, and what makes it one of the greatest and my favorite is the owner. The owner is very kind, very dedicated, and it makes the whole experience of the food so much better. And the food is top notch. Choices, and each has its own unique flavor. So much spices, the texture, so flavorful. I have only good things to say. Tula is really great, one of the best places for me to recommend for a date. read more

This has got to be the best service we have had in canada and some phenomenal food as well. Abhi is extremely friendly, good with recommendations, and is super easy to talk to. He also was able to juggle holding a conversation with us while helping people when they needed it. Most people's recomendations at other restraunts usually seem half hearted but his seemed strong and genuine. We got the fried rice and grandma's curry. Im.not usually a curry person but this was great. It had a mix of strong flavors that worked well together like the sweetness of the palmigranite seeds or the slow cooked chickpeas. For the fried rice it was super savory and worked really well with the sauce and vegan chicken. We were full from the first meal so we had to store the rest for later. He said it was wven better the next day and I actually might think he was right. The next day we came back for the sampler platter. Each one was pretty good on its own and our favorite was the tofu butter Masala. Even though the sampler platter was good the first two meals were our favorite. This is one of the top places to go in montreal. read more

TULA translates to 'Balanced' and that's exactly what this restaurant is all about. An extraordinary culinary experience - five stars all the way!! Such homely preparation, felt light yet tasty. Highly recommended for wholesome and scrumptious food lovers! Food: This isn't your typical Indian restaurant serving the usual paneer, butter naan and Jira rice. If that's what you're after, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you're seeking something truly unique, this place delivers in every way. The menu is thoughtfully curated, reflecting genuine passion and care in every dish. We liked it so much that we ate there 3 times during our 3 day stay in Montreal. Here are the things we tried and absolutely loved. I normally like to rank dishes but all dishes came #1. - Koshimbir - a refreshing salad - Grandma's Special Curry - reminded me of a version of avial - Chapati - very home made feel - Ragda Patties - yummy chat - Tomato Soup - so good, my daughter loved it - Gulkand Panna Cotta - lunch thali - comes with 4 curries, 1 salad, rice, roti and dessert. - jackfruit biriyani - this was out of the world. - Burger - crispy and delicious - Bombay sandwich - we made this to go and ate it after about 8 hours and it was scrumptious - Weekend Brunch Thali - pongal, sambhar, chutney, desset. I dont know how he gets such diverse food SO right - Lentil idlis - they had shredded carrots and green beans. So thoughtful about making healthy food. - Ragi dosa - this is not in the menu but the owner surprised us with it. SO good. - Mango lassi - tasted even better than the dairy mango lassi. This was made with coconut milk yogurt that they make it themselves. I mean talk about the incredible amount of detail and care poured into creating it. - Hibiscus & ginger drink - - Chai - this came with the cutest sugar container on the side (see picture). Owner said he got them Bali when he was travelling. Host, Service and Place: Exceptional service and hospitality! We arrived about 30 minutes before closing, yet were welcomed with genuine kindness. There was no rush -- we were encouraged to take our time exploring the menu. The host, Abhishek, patiently walked us through each item, clearly passionate about the food and the experience he offers. What stood out most was -- he even recommended other restaurants in town that he personally likes. How often do you see a restaurant owner do that? It was clear he is not running the business just for the money. Once we placed our order, the food arrived promptly and was absolutely delightful. It is a beautiful, boutique restaurant. The interior is beautifully designed with tasteful decor that creates a calming and inviting ambiance. Overall, a great experience. read more

Tula - Thali lunch platter with butter 'chicken', saag, dahl, and a saffron semolina dessert. - Indian Near Me - Montreal, Quebec

Tula is a vegetarian/vegan/gluten free paradise for Indian food lovers. The owner is very lovely and personable, and if it's your first time, he will explain the menu in detail. I ordered the mango lassi, butter chicken, chapati and shared the panna cotta dessert. The mango lassi was divine! The butter chicken did indeed taste like real chicken, and is very mild. The panna cotta is beautifully decorated with edible flowers. I want to come back to try their famous thali dish, which is only offered at lunch, and comes with an assortment of various dishes in beautiful presenting bowls. Best to make a reservation, as it fills up fast at peak meal times. read more

We had the most wonderful lunch here. Popped in while doing some shopping and were treated to an incredible lunch. The tikka masala vegan poutine was delicious and the tasting menu was more than we could eat for an incredible price. Had some lassi and hibiscus juice which were fantastic. Almost better than the food was the service. If you're in the area it's a must visit! Ps. Just to add we are not vegan or vegetarian-- just fans of great food. This was incredible no matter what your dietary needs or preferences are! read more

Food was genuinely interesting, a natural and healthy twist to Indian food bringing out often suppressed flavors. Service was first class and our server spent a lot of time explaining the dishes, offering suggestions and helped a picky younger member of our party. read more

The food was incredibly tasty - starting with the mango lassi that was made with coconut yogurt. The very helpful waitress recommended some dishes and we ended up with small rice paper rolls with mushrooms, vegan "chicken" tikka masala and a jackfruit biryani. They were amazing ... especially the gluten free chipati that was a treat for me. The chef/owner came out chatting with guests and really made it a cozy beautiful meal. It's a warm friendly restaurant with incredible staff and food. read more

If you love Indian food crafted with care and precision, Tula is a must do. I had the fortune to get there early (and discovered it fills up quickly), and my server explained in detail many of the dishes. I started with a fusion appetizer of a spring roll packed with shredded mushrooms and kale, accompanied by a luscious peanut ginger sauce. Absolutely delicious. I followed up with "Grandma's coconut curry," the texture was silky smooth with the warm spices that hit a soul spot within me. For a night of pure culinary delight, Tula is worth your time. excellent food. served fresh and hot. very homely taste. definitely not to miss everytime in town.

Amazing food, everything I have tried has been AMAZING! As a non-vegan who enjoys eating more plant-based but does eat meat sometimes, I can say that Tula toes the line perfectly between highlighting the vegetables while also providing options that really do mimic the meat versions (the vegan chicken tastes identical to real chicken, it is amazing in their delicious biryani). The desserts are also delicious and never too sweet, and their rotating specials menu is always new and exciting when I come in. Abhi provides amazing service and really good recommendations; he is attentive and passionate without being overbearing. Can't wait to try the rest of their menu! read more

The food here is amazing - satisfying without feeling heavy, and bursting with flavour. I've dined here for both brunch and dinner on different occasions, and the offerings are outstanding. They are very clearly proud of their menu, and rightfully so. A must try if you are vegan and/or love Indian cuisine. read more

This is a newish vegan Indian spot that opened up just 8 months ago (Feb 2023). You're greeted with the fragrance of burning incense when stepping in. You can tell that a lot of heart and intention was put into the decor which is welcoming and visually appealing. My friend was recommended the thali plate by the server and it's a generous portion for lunch. I went with the butter chicken which is one of the non spicy options on the menu. For a vegan butter chicken, I think it did quite well! I liked the chewy texture of the chicken substitute and the sauce was sweet and not spicy. It was enough sauce to go with all the rice and the chapati. The salad had a tiny bit of spiciness but just right for me. The thali plate offered an assortment of Dahl, tofu curry, potatoes, a mango dessert, salad, chapati, and cabbage with rice and a crispy papadum. An extra special touch was that the owner came out to greet each of the tables and he asked about our experience and graciously welcomed us to come again. read more

Tula is a rare gem! I wish we had a plant base Indian restaurant like Tula in Salt Lake City, Utah. We were in Montreal 6 days and I ate here 3 lunches. It is absolutely delicious and healthy. Finding a restaurant where the owner cares about his patrons is rare. Abhi (I hope i got the owners name right) is so kind and goes out of his way to explain the dishes and makes you feel very welcome. The first day I ordered Lentil Idis with Samba and Chutney. My husband had the Brunch Platter. Everything was amazing and different than any Indian restaurant we had been before. I went back a few days later and had Grandma's Special Coconut Curry with Veggies and the GF Chapati. The curry was loaded with yummy veggies. I enjoyed it so much that I went again 2 days later for Grandma's curry!! You must try this restaurant!! read more

I love Indian cuisine (at least what passes for it in North American restaurants it turns out) and my first experience dining at Tula last night shows me just how much I've been missing. I was blown away by the combination of flavours in every dish I tried, from the salad to the General Tso and everything in-between. How do they get so many flavours to be at once subtle /and/ pronounced in such harmony without becoming overpowering?! The server (whose name I forget but I think is an/the owner?) was friendly, helpful, patient, and genuinely proud of his menu (for good reason). My trio simply ordered what he recommended and we were very happy with everything. My one disappointment was the limit to my own capacity as there were other dishes at the table that looked delicious but I was beyond stuffed. My next Indian meal will be at Tula. read more

Having tried their food before as delivery, I wanted to get a feel of the restaurant too. It was a small place but it had a welcoming feeling to it, from the faux plant decorations and dim light ambience, soft music... There's still some maturing to be done. The owner was sort of running around trying a bit too much to sell the concept to people, enumerating every item in the menu and being sort of all over the place. That's really my only complaint. The food was delicious although next time I will go with the non-faux meats and opt for simple proteins like tofu, and jackfruit which would work best with Indian dishes. read more

Tula is a lovely new vegan Indian place in Mile End. The food is delicious, and the menu features some home-style curries that aren't typically featured at other places around. I have the impression they do a lot of take-out business, but the restaurant is a very calm place. The owner is very enthusiastic and friendly.
