    Torta de asada
    Edith M.

This is a small little market with real Mexican food in south county! My coworkers love coming here when we are in the mood for good tasting authentic Mexican food. I've tried their asada tacos and they are delicious and they come with an enormous portion of meat. This last time I decided to try a torta with asada and it was so good!! My coworkers both said they liked their carnitas! Honestly it's worth checking out because they truly serve good food and make their tortillas in house! It's small and can get a bit busy during lunch hour rush but it's absolutely worth the wait!

Great for takeout! Their food tastes like they were home made and their portions are huge. The service can be slow so come with an extra portion of patience. It usually really busy. What can I say about the ambiance, well it's a small grocery store with a butcher, and a kitchen. Nothing remarkable.

Tula has 'Market' in its name but a good number of people, myself included, comes here to buy ready-to-eat authentic Mexican food. Be sure to take a number if you are here to buy food then wait for your number being called. There is no place to eat inside the market but there are several tables and chairs just outside the doors. From my experience, it's a 50-50 chance whether the person behind the counter can speak English or not, so today I had to use the point method to order. Truth be told, I suspect her English is better than my Spanish, just saying. My favorite item here is chicharron salsa ranchers. But they have pozole and other guisados (soups) and menudo on weekends, plus tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, and combo plates too. It does have specials of the day Mondays through Fridays so look them over. Today I discovered there is another Tula (#1) at the corner of El Toro & Muirlands, which is closer to me. What a pleasant find.

They just had me on the phone ask me to hold for 1 min and I waited for 15 min all of a sudden they hung up and every time I call back they hang the phone up absolutely terrible customer service , I just wanted to buy rice and beans for 70 people for my party .. guess won't be buying there

Al Pastor Burrito and Torta de Milanesa Pollo ($31) - Authentic Mexican food!

If you're looking for an authentic taste of Mexico in the heart of Lake Forest, Tula Market is a hidden gem that's worth checking out--assuming you don't mind a bit of an adventure. (English is not their strong point but I manage to do okay.) Food: The food is the star of the show at Tula Market. The menu offers a variety of traditional Mexican dishes, from tacos and burritos to tamales and sopes. The flavors are bold and authentic, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The tacos are particularly outstanding--well-seasoned meats, fresh toppings, and homemade tortillas that have just the right amount of chewiness. The salsas are another highlight, bringing just the right amount of heat and tang to the dishes. Torta de Milanesa Pollo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=ghpCq98LEL2OlM8YBY8ITw Ambiance: Tula Market has a charmingly no-frills atmosphere. The market itself is small and packed with all sorts of goodies, from fresh produce to hard-to-find Mexican spices and snacks. The layout is a bit tight, so be prepared to navigate through narrow aisles. The adjacent food counter, where you can order hot meals, has a more casual, street-food vibe. There are a few tables outside where you can sit down and enjoy your food, but don't expect anything fancy--this is more about the food than the setting. Food Counter - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=FA-JPMyEX-Vk7CXARFsWiA Service: The staff at Tula Market is friendly and eager to help, but be aware that things can get a bit chaotic during peak hours. You might have to wait a little longer for your food, but the wait is usually worth it. The staff's warmth and genuine hospitality make up for any delays, and they're always happy to offer recommendations if you're unsure what to order. Value: Prices at Tula Market are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. You can enjoy a filling meal without breaking the bank, which makes it a great spot for a quick lunch or a casual dinner. Three years ago, the burritos cost $10 and that Milanese Torta was $11.50. Now, the burritos are $14 and the torta is $15. Receipt - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=pVX8L_LSYusDtzWPkHP4rw If you're feeling adventurous, try the menudo or pozole on the weekends. Both are rich, hearty, and packed with flavor. For those who prefer something a bit more familiar, the carne asada burrito is a solid choice--generously stuffed and bursting with flavor. However, I have a tendency to lean towards the al pastor; albeit a tad on the salty side. Just be aware that portions are generous, so come hungry! Al Pastor Burrito - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=qZ53G788TudETtUNU6t_MQ Tula Market isn't about luxury or fine dining--it's about enjoying authentic Mexican food in a relaxed, unpretentious setting. If you appreciate good food and a bit of local charm, this place is definitely worth a visit. It might not be the most polished spot in town, but it's one of the most genuine. Tamales are pretty good but a little on the dry side compared to other tamale places we've had. The carnitas, rice and beans are good too.

Does anyone know who bought this business?

Is there a place to sit and eat at the market?

For the Lake Forest location there are a couple chairs on the exterior of the store. Not ideal for an enjoyable leisurely meal, but if you’re grabbing a quick bit, it will suffice.

We went in several hours before closing, but when we got up to order, we were told they were already out of the brisket, ribs, dirty rice, and a few other items. We were definitely bummed, but figured we'd make it work. What made it more disappointing was when we asked if there were any substitutions available for the items they were out of, we were immediately told "no." At that point, our options were pretty limited. The only meats available were pulled pork and chicken. I completely understand that restaurants sell out of popular items, especially BBQ spots, but being out of that many menu items well before closing and not offering any flexibility or substitutions made for a frustrating experience. We were really looking forward to trying this place and unfortunately left disappointed.

In Chinese cuisine, some barbecue meats and cold dishes are prepared in advance and may be served at room temperature or reheated before serving. Using a microwave does not automatically mean the food is low quality or not fresh. It can simply be part of the serving process. Chicken and duck are also commonly chopped and served with the bones still inside. This is a very traditional way of preparing and serving these meats, although customers who are unfamiliar with this style may find it inconvenient. The food here tastes authentic, and in my opinion, Frank's BBQ is one of the best traditional Chinese barbecue restaurants in Orange County. It may not match everyone's personal preferences, but I think it is important to understand the culture and preparation style before unfairly criticizing the restaurant or calling the food bad.
