Got a 60 minute Thai full body massage with Sandy…read more I asked for a Swedish but she started doing Thai and I (internally laughed and) thought to myself, "oh well let's just try it" - I did not regret it! Some parts of the massage hurt like when she used her fingers and toes to lessen the tension in my back and neck but nothing was unbearable. She focused on my back, shoulders, and legs. The deep tissue massages through my sore muscles was very much needed! I particularly enjoyed when she'd distribute her body weight by stepping on my back and legs. If you've never had someone step on your back, here's a place you can try it! Sandy also used Thai oil and it made my skin feel and smell amazing. I love how comfortable the room was with great smells, a comfortable massage surface, and really relaxing music. In addition for massages, I prefer if there's minimal talking and we didn't speak at all which was a bonus. I was so relaxed I drooled and was drifting to sleep! Note: no registered massage therapists available here and you can get a discount if you pay with cash. I would certainly return.

Since trying it in Markham I wanted to share that they offer the oil head massage here wow! I haven't tried it here yet but it's an amazing therapy that everyone should try (see pic). The other thing that caught my eye was the reflexology type poster but for hands (see pic). Wowsa I asked about it and was incredible. She pinched in between digits which hurt but felt awesome when she stopped. Who doesn't need a hand massage? Nice that we have these people.

As I work my way through Chinatown going from Spadina east on Dundas, Oriental Natural Beauty…read moreWellness Spa revealed itself as the next candidate for the best value in Chinese Shiatsu massage here in the downtown core. It's got great curb appeal with a bright blue sign and attractive script font scrolling across the front of this spot on Dundas making it difficult to miss. There's the requisite tent sign on the sidewalk highlighting foot massage (reflexology) as well as a couple being massaged (sounds fun!). More rich content visuals adorn the front of this place and the lobby is well lit with an oriental-looking backdrop of bamboo to give it a friendly organic look. There's also a giant "465" above the door so you know where you are, and I like this over-communication so there's no mistakes. Upon entering I was instantly greeted by a friendly person and when I asked about shiatsu massage she instantly said 60 minutes and I nodded, ok! After having previously tried 45 min and then 30 min, it seemed silly not to spend the extra $10 to level up the experience with the 60/60 deal. I was not disappointed with that decision! (Remember people chinatown is a cash-is-king place so don't get whiny about it) The rooms were tiny, omg. There was no way to fall over in here. I guess the tops of the rooms are open as I could easily hear other activity. The rooms are clean and nicely painted. My masseuse was a woman name Mia. As soon as I lay down on the table I could feel my feet against the wall and when I told her, there was no response, so I knew she didn't have much English. Good enough though, no problem with Hello and Turn Over, but rudimentary for sure. She was fantastic, and the most thorough and professional so far with some new moves added that I appreciated, like lifting my leg up and over bending me backwards which felt great. That didn't sound easy for her but she did it, and I appreciate it. This may be due to the 60 minutes, I'm not 100% sure. There was some cheesy instrumental music playing in the background, which could have been louder but overall a pleasant experience. Starting with my first experience with rmt with expert Angela (miss you!) I noticed that when a massage is done right, my head gets congested (light headed too) and I feel like I'm getting a cold temporarily. This likely takes a longer 90 minutes to achieve and get in the zone, but Mia got close to this in the 60 minutes that we had. Makes me wonder what she could do in 90 : )

Since I gotta pay out of pocket for massage now, I thought I'd try Chinatown and see how it stands…read moreup against the rmt I've had over the years. I'm no expert but this was possibly shiatsu, although they told me this was Chinese massage, and it was different from the usual rmt in that they press on points as well as the usual moves. I was super happy with the service and value. Also the amount of effort she put into the job. I asked for 45 minutes which is $50 cash and seems a fairly standard price in Chinatown. The pace was much faster than I'm used to and it seemed that I almost got the usual 90 minutes worth in 45. Of course it's not the same, but quite impressive amount of work over the 45 minutes with no downtime or inefficiency. The room was small, clean and quiet, although I went in the evening when it wasn't busy. There was soft Chinese folk guitar twanging playing quietly in the room and the lighting was nice. The white disposable sheet on the table was great. I met two ladies when I went in, and it seemed like they were the only ones there. One was better at English. The one that massaged spoke only Chinese with rudimentary "ok" in English which was fine and I appreciated not wanting to talk. She ended up using the hot towels on my back which felt heavenly. I tipped $20 since that was all I had on my, but felt worth it compared to the usual $156 bill at the clinic with no tip. I'll be back and felt fantastic on the walk home and the next day.

After the soak and 10 Minutes in, came the constant interruptions of my masseuse, tending to other appointments coming in, making phone calls on her cell phone between touching me , talking to other patrons coming in. Did not hear or see the other masseuses cleaning their hands in a span of 5 seconds. Phone by my feet? Way to decompress hah. In the middle of my massage she asked if a male masseuse could replace me so she can tend to what it seem to b another appointment . I declined and then she proceeded to continue and then talk to a second appointment while being on her phone touching her cell phone and my feet. She then told the other man to undress and told him she would be there in 30 Minutes communicating from The other room. I got then moved To another room to complete my second half of the package and she left me there for another good long moment. She came back rushing, violently rubbing me quickly . Absolutely not peaceful at all. Then i said can you go Slower and she went softer. Then she got on the phone again speaking her language out loud massaging me With one hand . I asked her if she could take the call later she continued her call And ignored me and then she hung up and i asked her to stop. Then she kept saying no i will give u longer time i said no just stop . Will only pay for 30 Mins. Then she kept persuading me and i still declined. If u r looking for sanitary peaceful environment then skip this place. If u don't mind the hustle bustle then come on down.

While shopping around I came across this place and found that bio mats were used during massages. I contacted the owner Jaci Daly, who was super friendly and willing to accommodate my unique request. Since then I've been visiting her place weekly for 1 hr bio mat sessions (on their own & not in combination with any other service) for a very reasonable price. She's got a great space for it (very well kept and cozy) and is always awesome about having candle light and relaxing music on for me at the beginning of each session. I intend on trying one of her massages and will be back to review that too!

Turning the corner going north a half a block on Huron, I found Lemon Holistic, in this little out-of-the-way strip of businesses off the main drag, along with a couple interesting restaurants. Lemon Holistic is at 75 Huron, which is on the east side of the street and down in the basement. Walking in and getting greeted, this spot seems to be super casual. I was led around the corner for the reflexology therapy and the chair was a basic low back recliner, nothing special. But omg, the woman, named Ella, was super talented at reflexology and I was glad that I opted, for the first time, to get the 60 minutes. It was pure heaven. The body massage after that was of high quality as well and, even though I didn't look at the clock, it seemed like I received plenty of time for my money, which was $90 plus tip.
