The message on the voicemail is not professional. I thought it was someone's residence, and the voice mailbox was full. I decided to just go and check it out. I discovered after I arrived that the owner had just passed away. There was a wait because the woman working at the counter (I believe it is the late owner's wife) didn't know what she was doing. I hope she is going to sell the business because she was stressed out and unprepared. Unfortunately, the store was out of 1/2 the items I needed for my class. I was about to pay for the few items they had and I told the woman that I was happy that students were offered the discount. The woman replied "No. My husband didn't do that". I calmly said that I was disappointed and would go somewhere else. She snidely remarked that that the discount would have only been around $3, so why didn't her business pick it up? I decided to buy the items. After she rang up my credit card she wasn't able to provide a receipt because the tape ran out. She didn't know where the tape was and said that I would have to wait for her staff member to replace it because he was with a customer. I told her I had to go so I wanted her to reverse the charges. She told me that I needed to calm down! No potential customer should have to deal with that kind of abuse. Posner's Art Store is so much better. Two people welcomed me. The store has a kit with everything I needed and I was out within 5 minutes!

Invaluable Educational Experience…read more What a masterclass in customer relations! I visited Sarnoff with a $250 budget seeking a quality ballpoint pen for daily professional use, and the staff provided exactly the guidance I needed. Their response to my needs, budget, and requirements was artfully pretentious. The combination of casual dismissiveness and practiced condescension when I expressed interest in their luxury pen selection? Remarkable. It takes real skill to make someone feel simultaneously invisible and judged. If I had a pen, I'd have taken earnest notes on their methods. I'm genuinely grateful for this experience. It crystallized my understanding of what I value in a retailer and motivated me to find exactly that elsewhere. Thanks to their tutelage in what customer service shouldn't be, I discovered the perfect pen (a LAMY 2000, ballpoint) from a different small business, one that sadly never learned to efficiently dispatch proles like myself. The pen is magnificent, the service I ultimately received was exemplary, and I have Sarnoff to thank for the educational journey that led me there. Sometimes the most valuable lessons come from the most unexpected teachers. Would I recommend Sarnoff? Absolutely! They're a perfect illustration of how not to treat customers, and provided you've the foresight to bring a pen, you can write your very own cautionary tale. Thanks, Sarnoff!

Deadwood Framing recently completed our second and third custom frame job and I realized I totally…read moreforgot to post them a wonderful review for their amazing work! 1st Custom Piece: We accidentally tore an Asian scroll my Dad handed down to us. Deadwood Framing successfully repaired the scroll and mounted it in a framed box to prevent any possible future damage. Deadwood was helpful in picking the background box fabric and ensured the box frame could easily be mounted to the wall. The framed box was also made of a heavy duty acrylic "glass" that wouldn't crack easily. 2nd Custom Piece: We took an amazing panorama photo from our Hawaii vacation and printed it as a 6 foot banner. The banner photo turned out better than expected and we knew we needed to get it framed. Deadwood had an amazing metalic blue frame that complemented the banner photo perfectly. Deadwood also thought to use an acrylic glass due to the size of the frame. 3rd Custom Piece: My oldest and sweetest cat passed in 2020. I wanted a memorial frame that included my kitty's collar and name tag, a tuff of his furr, a paw imprint, and a photo of my kitty. The frame I originally picked could not be used since it didn't have enough depth for the items I wanted framed, but Wade suggested a different frame that looked even better. The matting and layout is better than anything I could have imagined. Deadwood even installed a special casing to prevent bugs from getting into the tuft of furr. I highly appreciate Deadwood's communication throughout the entire process and wonderful talented craftsmanship.

This was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. They brought 30 regular boxes, 3 large boxes, 12 blankets and 3 carts. The boxes are sturdy and stackable. It made my movers job so easy that it took less than 90 minutes for them to load my entire apartment onto the truck. And, when it came time to unpack, I had labeled all the boxes and had the boxes placed into the rooms where their contents would be placed. I didn't have to buy and haul cardboard boxes and tape. Nor did I have to throw them away when the move was finished. If this kind of business had been around the last 30 years, I would have used it back then. The price was very reasonable and not having to deal with disposing of packing boxes was a delight. If you have a choice, this is a no-brainer. Go Bungo Box.
