I waited an hour to be seen, and when he finally walked in, he brought an attitude with him that could sour the wallpaper. No bedside manner, no warmth, no real concern--just arrogance and impatience. Then, without warning, he poked and pushed on my abdomen like I was a piece of equipment on his workbench. The whole office had the same strange, negative atmosphere. He also seemed very eager to push medications, almost like the drugs owed him money. I can't tell you how good of a surgeon he is. Maybe he's brilliant with a scalpel. But medicine is supposed to involve more than cutting and prescribing. Compassion matters. Listening matters. Treating people like human beings matters. And the icing on the cake? His written version of what happened didn't exactly match my experience. That's a problem. Maybe he's a great surgeon. Maybe he isn't. I only know that after meeting him, I'd rather roll the dice somewhere else. Worst doctor I've ever had the unpleasant experience of meeting. If you're looking for a doctor, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I had to explain to him that after my last surgery he had to drain the site several times and wanted to know if we could put a drain in for this surgery. He point-blank said he did not have the prior records right now and did not have an answer for that question. I have now been waiting two weeks to have a lumpectomy (with positive cancer biopsy) scheduled and when I called to see what was going on, they really couldn't give me an answer other than with Dignity taking over it was all just a mess and to expect a call from the scheduler tomorrow. - - Which is exactly what they told me a week ago when I called. This is such a predicament, as I do know Dr. Dixon does great work, but I have been left in a very unnecessary and unsettling situation.

Dr. Ryan Shanannan was thorough, professional, and reassuring. On 2 South, Mae, Crystal, and Paige were exceptional--caring, knowledgeable, and clearly dedicated to their patients. Doctors Kim and Dr. C were compassionate, and the surgeon and anesthesiologist communicated clearly and confidently. Here comes the problem!!!!! Now, unfortunately, the complete opposite experience: Elliot from the ER phone line. Rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. I asked a straightforward question about possibly speaking with Dr. Shanannan. Instead of listening, he repeated the same irrelevant line about not giving out the doctor's schedule--which I never asked for. It was either a lack of comprehension or a lack of effort--neither is acceptable. When I asked to leave a message, I was told "we don't do that." No explanation. No alternative. Just a dead end. When I confirmed his name, he responded with attitude. When I asked his role, he refused to answer altogether--which raises serious concerns about transparency. Patients shouldn't have to question who they're speaking to when trying to get help. For someone in a frontline role at a hospital, basic communication and professionalism should be the bare minimum. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and borderline disrespectful. It's disappointing, because one person like this can easily undermine the trust built by an otherwise excellent medical team. The hospital clearly has many outstanding professionals--Elliot is not one of them, clearly Elliot does not have human kindness.

I had fusion back surgery in 2009, and by Spet 2021 I had regressed again, and was in constant excruciating pain and unable to walk, sleep, or sit. After doing all the treatments recommended by Kaiser, their physicians referred me to Dr. Alberstone, and I went to see him for the first time in Nov 2021. Knowing how much pain I was in, Dr. Alberstone arranged for my surgery in Dec 2021, which was so kind of him given his already full schedule. We are so grateful to him for the surgery. I am a 150% better. He told me it could take up to a year for recovery but 6 months post surgery and I am virtually pain free during the day, some pain at night, but I feel human again, I can do things, get around, even go for walks with my wife again. I wish every surgeon or physician was like him, and treated patients with the care that Dr. Alberstone does. Thank you Dr. Alberstone!
