I don't fly often enough anymore to warrant pre-check but the first person to opine that the TSA provides the illusion of security rather than a legitimate bulwark against the bad guys was simply a genius. Erstwhile fast food workers and former toll collectors sleepwalking in their government uniforms fixated on my slip-on Top-siders just to prove they're not "profiling." OMG what a crew. As of date of this review, there is no dedicated pre-check security line. I was just given an expedited screening card and merged into the regular security line. Long wait time. Beware! Update: so, it looks like they wait until the line winds back all the way to the entrance before they open pre-check, pulling everyone with the card out of the original line to line up again at a new security checkpoint. Seems counterproductive to me, and what were those TSA agents busy with beforehand anyway? Terrible policy. read more

Stupidest human beings I have ever dealt with. The TSA should win awards for their incompetence. It's truly a sight to behold. While traveling with a baby and plodding through their ridiculously long lines, we were told that our 8 oz bottles of formula were too big and couldn't be allowed through. Ok, we'll let the baby starve, you f'ing dopes. We objected and were then told that we could take the formula through, but we would have to open all the bottles for inspection. I told them formula spoils an hour after opening and with our 3 hour flight plus hour ride after, we'd have no food left for the baby. And again, the starving issue. Their reaction? We didn't even get a sliver of humanity. Both agents walked slowly away mumbling to each other under their breath leaving the entire line hanging. They finally brought a supervisor back and decided (apparently they're making all this up as they go along) that yes, it was OK to bring the formula on, but we'd have to submit to a full pat down even through we already had cleared security. HAVE THESE F'ING IMBECILES EVER ENCOUNTERED TRAVELERS WITH A BABY BEFORE? It's completely incomprehensible that they make parents of a baby jump through hoops to bring simple standard 'on the go' bottles of Similac on a plane. It really blows my mind. Good luck fellow travellers. Prepare to experience real life idiocracy with the TSA sh'theads at Newark. read more

What kind of airport terminal closes TSA checkpoints early on a Sunday? This craptastic one. The security lines are narrow, undersized and understaffed. I've had some nice customer service as far as friendliness goes, but the design hampers any effective movement of travelers, or timely flow of passengers. I've seen twice as many people in line at SFO Terminal 2, my home terminal, get people to their flights in a quarter of the time or less. It's called infrastructure, New Jersey. Think about investing in it, Christie, instead of playing politics with transit. read more

No TSA precheck when I arrived, and half way through the line they opened up precheck and so we have to go over to the other line. But then after the boarding pass scan, you go back to the same single line for bag scan anyways and they say it's not a pre check line so all the pre-check allowed items had to come out of your bag. Very slow because it's at the speed of the regular non precheck lanes and there is only ONE lane. So one slow passenger with lots of questions or noncompliance will set everyone back. Leave LOTS of time and arrive early. read more

Not the best, not the worst TSA checkpoint. The lines are always incredibly slow and the workers are not engaging. They aren't rude, they just don't go beyond the usual "take out your laptop" and "take off your belt" chatter. Overall, it is hit or miss here. Give yourself an hour and a half or two at this terminal if you don't have pre-check. read more

I fly every week for work and go through a lot of security checks. Rarely do I have an issue. However this is the worst managed security team I have ever seen. No communication to us telling pre check one thing and then griping at them for following instructions. Not enough lanes open yet after I stand in line for 30 minutes they open another line and let folks just walking to go right through while the rear of us watch. This is terrible leadership and planning. They are desperate need of training here! read more

Make sure to arrive with plenty of time. I've been going through this TSA checkpoint my entire life and not once has it not been busy, incredibly slow, hot, and frustrating. The lines are absolutely ridiculous. However, I've always felt that the TSA employees are nice..I've never come across anyone who was rude. Just make sure to make time for this line! read more

Horrible! First, why do they close precheck on a Friday at 5pm? Second what kind of incompetents do they have working these checkpoints? There is no consistency when it comes to rules and procedures. I'm told take out my item that operate on 9 volt batteries... And then when I do I get yelled at for it 'Sir, you do not need to take anything but your laptop out'. So they decided that they were going to empty my bag. I told the guy named 'Rigby' where the network tester that had the 9v was. His response was, 'I don't care, I'm emptying the bag'. My response was a sigh and 'this is rediculous'. He flips out, throws a big temper tantrum and slams my bag down on the conveyer area and loudly says 'I'm not checking his ba.' as he stomps around.. Of course this attention seeker had to create a big display. So then I have the very rude, I don't even want to call her a manager because I think her skills are below that term, babysitter come over and start yelling at me accusing me of calling this child an "asshole" and that she was going to call port authority. Since when did a sigh become vulgarity? Since when do we have to sit there mute as a stranger empties the entire contents of our bags to get 2 batteries that are right in front? She even did the swab test on the bag, negative. When I asked her about that, I get the response "that is not considered a screening, I have to do it before looking in your bag".... BS, I've had that done in lieu of tearing apart my bag. I think it's rediculous thay they got caught screwing up so they take their hostility out on the passengers by treating us with disrespect, closing down precheck lanes way to early. I encourage everyone to make some noise and push for privatized screeners; it's airports legal right to have, but tsa is trying to block it. read more

I have traveled a lot and fond TSA check points to be polite and courteous even while under e tremendous pressure and large crowds. Not so here. There was very little crowd and yet these are the rudest group I've ever seen. They need some serious career counseling and redirection. read more

Almost got kicked out the airport for refusing a pat down while wearing a tank top with an open back (had to remove a thin blazer that has never been an issue before) and after I went through the scanner! They were patting my bare skin!!! How is this legal? Newark airport - never say never but will def try to avoid. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. TSA workers have no sense of urgency. Stand around talking. Bins were backing up and falling off of the conveyor. My bin personally fell of ruining my pastries. TSA female worker had no care in the world said oh well not my fault. With that type if attitude she shouldn't even work in security with the non chalant attitude. Dont feel very safe. read more

You'd think with the number of Southwest flights leaving Terminal A that there would be more than the goat path available to people trying to get out of town (and where Laguardia is an even worse option). My A29 turned into B something and no breakfast...a whiny first-world problem, I admit, but really....this is ridiculous. read more

There should be a zero rating! This is the rudest airport staff I've ever experienced. The TSA at this location are excessively rude and care nothing about the guests. They couldn't have lower customer service quality if they tried. It is unnecessary to be purposefully rude to traveling guests who are trying to connect flights. One agent dumped my son's tray upside down and his things were scattered, simply because he "should have known" his laptop was supposed to be in a separate tray. Also, I was the one who was supposed to have been responsible to tell them we were together, when they stopped the line after sending my son through and did a shift change. Evidently, we are supposed to read minds. Normal people going through TSA assume nothing and wait to be asked how many are in the party, etc. read more
