Almost always use the Central TSA Checkpoint when going through the airport here. It is not as if I have to use this checkpoint. There are other ones to choose from, which may be faster or slower depending on the day and time. I just prefer to use this one since it is the one closest to the Central Terminal food court as I typically get a bite at the airport before my flight. As I mention above, getting through the TSA Checkpoint varies by day and time. My experience using this checkpoint is that it can take a while to get through. Particularly if TSA is slow to open new lines or there is a backup in the screening area. So I feel like my rating of this checkpoint fluctuates up and down because of this. In general, you should arrive 90 minutes to 2 hours before your flight. Getting through the checkpoint can take a half hour if it is crowded. And if you have to check in baggage, it doesn't give you a lot of time to make it to the gate. Especially if the gate is at one of the Satellite Terminals requiring a people mover train ride. On average, I would have to rate this checkpoint 3 stars. Though it can be 2 or 4 star experiences at times. 2 stars when the lines are slow to move and TSA isn't making an effort to balance out the waiting lines and 4 stars when they do and you get shifted to a TSA Pre Check line for a faster screening. But never a 1 star experience here because I make sure to arrive with time to spare.

TSA is inefficient. Workers are doing their best but 1:30 hours to get through a security checkpoint is not good

After a gritty over crowded underground train ride the doors open and a mad rush of human waist head for the escalators. I'm included in that afterbirth of people but I'm special. I skip the shops and head for "THE LOUNGE"! Alaska Airlines has their premium lounge for people who pay to be pampered and of coarse I pay for that privilege... I enjoy the spectacular view of planes taking off while having unlimited tasty beverage ( sometimes alcohol ) and typically morning goodies. This refuge allows me to hide out from the scourge of humanity waiting for a plane to somewhere... Ok, there are plenty of dining and beverage places to wet your whistle including a Wendy's can you believe it... In fact grabbing a chili for my flight is a wonderful idea. It will keep the travel people away from me as I'll donate some of myTreblinka fumes into the ozone layer... Moving onto the shopping well many opportunity's to purchase candy or clothing and maybe even a silly souvenir of our local sports team. Enjoy your experience and have a wonderful flight! And please folks one reminder DO NOT WHISTLE while you walk around, it's annoying!

The staff at the N gate for our connecting flights are so rude and condescending as I felt so insulted even as we tried to put our items in the overhead compartment they were very unsympathetic in fact the guest behind us was more helpful gives me the indication of not favoring to fly with Alaska. Even as they made announcements she highlight my crossbody bag needs to be stowed in the overhead bin since of our seating. With the price increase of extra for choosing your seat...extra for check in bags...extra for meals...extra for carry on bags it made perfect sense to upgrade our tickets though other than priority boarding and all the usual amenities it came with Alaska isn't as welcome as Hawaiian and it's a shame. No lounge access for flights under 2000 miles unless you're a member nothing gives me a reason to even earn miles for flights that doesn't feel rewarding...the service needs much improvement.

It was pretty far away from the terminal we landed at, so we were happy that the airport had this option. When we made our way to South Satellite Terminal it was open and had some food and shopping options. There was an Indian spot that also offered pre made sushi options, a sit down fish and chips spot, and a burger spot. We opted to stop at Smith Cove, the fish and chips spot and the food was ok, but did the trick. From there we grabbed drinks and some local candy from one of the shops and browsed the Duty Free store while we waited for our plane to board. We were there pretty early so there were plenty of seats available and we charged our phones and used the restroom before boarding again. While it wasn't the best terminal we've ever spent time in, it had more than many others we've visited.

All that said, the renovations came out great, so the aesthetic is nice. Just not sure this is a long term solution. Come prepared to stand amongst the considerable crowds!

There was a wait list so it's important to check in on through the QR code to get v on the list. We waited about 10 minutes. They have cushioned seats. Unfortunately people kept cutting to get in saying they got a text it was their turn but others in line were waiting for the same thing. The staff allowed this and did nothing to organize the lines... we waited for so long that the system took us off our spot by the time we got to the front of the line. Staff let us in anyway but it was frustrating to see so many people allowed to cut us. Then, it was quite crowded so we took a bit to find a seat. Unfortunately (again), the seats were torn and obviously worn out --not in the best state that's for sure. The food was not good and there were flies on the items that were left out so I stuck with the soup only. The one redeeming perk is they had full sized soda cans (I love Diet Coke). Tbh I'd rather just sit at the gate than come here again.
