Saranique, the owner of Tres Chien, is amazing. We learned of her magical powers shortly after we adopted our dog and she has been a lifesaver. Our dog can become aggressive when fearful. She has assisted us in setting up precautions to protect both our dog and others. We have her walk our dog weekly, have boarded him for a training boot camp, and board him periodically throughout the year. Our dog LOVES Saranique. He greets her like a long lost friend every time he sees her. Whenever he stays with her, he comes back home way more well behaved and good mannered. We would be utterly lost without Saranique. She has worked with our dogs and family for the past three years. We connected with Saranique when our, then 20 month old pit-sharpei, was showing some early signs of ball aggression with other dogs (in the dog park). Her energy and intuitive understanding of dogs helped him move past this stage, after only a few sessions with her. Hiro has always LOVED the company of other dogs, and she encouraged his companionship with a stable, secure cohort of other pups. After this initial training, we continued sending Hiro off with Saranique, three times a week, and also boarded him with her. She is his third parent; he loves her so deeply, and his bond with her is beautiful. When it was time to rescue another dog and bring home a canine sibling for Hiro, we consulted with Saranique, as to a good fit companion for him. She made herself available to even meet prospective dogs with us to ensure a good match. Then, on a weekend when Saranique was unavailable, we reconnected with Hiro's foster mom from before, and went to BACS on our own, "just to see." We found 5 month old Umami (Pit-Carolina Dog-Shepherd/Boxer, mystery mix). She is what we affectionately call our "impulse buy," because we couldn't have chosen a more challenging "project" dog than this girl. She and Hiro immediately connected, but ultimately her energy wasn't ideal for him because she's high strung, insecure, willful, and pushy (not great for a dog who's the biggest pushover and softy). Two years later, with lots of hard work, focused training walks with Saranique, and monthly training sessions for us, Umami is evolving into a well-tempered dog. While she is pure love towards us, she can be weary of strangers, respond to fear with aggression, and reactive to other dogs on leash. Umi requires strong and consistent leadership, boundaries, and limits. Saranique has taught us what this looks like (because we really had it super easy with Hiro). It's still not easy, but I have no doubt that had it not been for Saranique's guidance and persistent work with our girl, we might have returned her to BACS long ago. She has learned impulse control, and the benefits of hard focused work. Umami also LOVES Saranique so much, that she responds to her like she's a rockstar. Our dogs walk and train with Saranique three days a week, and board with Tres Chien throughout the year. They eat a specialized diet and require medicated baths, and Saranique takes care of all of that. She's even come with us to the vet for Umami's annual visit, to help us manage Umami's anxiety when she goes to the doctor. This is how much both of my dogs trust Saranique. We believe that things work out for a reason. We adopted two really different dogs, who are now inseparable, and utterly integral to our family pack, thanks to Tres Chien. Saranique is the most gifted trainer I've ever met/worked with and I feel so lucky that our dogs and our family have her in our corner. I cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

Just 2 days of board and train with Saranique changed my life with my boston terrier, Bernard. I live in Los Angeles and drove Bernard all the way to Northern California to work with Saranique. I cannot say enough good things about Tres Chien! Our American Bully boarded with Saranique for three weeks over the summer and the effect has been astounding. Our rescued girl can be quite a handful behaviorally due to under socialization as a pup. With Saranique's help and guidance, we are finally starting to make significant progress towards having a happy and socialized pup. Our pup actually played with other dogs during her stay! Saranique is authentic, straight forward, and sets expectations that are real and achievable. She really takes the time to really get to know the dogs (and owners!) as individuals and knows that one size does not fit all when it comes to training. This is crucial especially for those of us who have dogs with behavior issues. Her training is logical and realistic. Will our pup ever be the belle of the dog park? Probably not. Saranique has worked with our dog, Beezus for two years. This includes structured walks, as well as a recent 15 day board and train. Beezus LOVES Saranique and absolutely views her as a pack leader. Saranique has helped Beezus with leash aggression, impulse control and learning to be part of a pack. During her board and train, Saranique attended to Beezus' myriad dietary needs as well as giving her a medicated bath/ear cleaning. Saranique speaks dog. She knows canines and will get the best out of your pooch whether you go to her for behavior modification, for pack walks or for boarding. My dog, Rudy can't wait for his weekly romps with her and could not be more thrilled when she comes to the door. The best part is he comes home exhausted and snores on my lap all evening, and there is nothing better than a tired dog. I also used Saranique when I had just moved in with my partner and her elderly cat and he was going through some behavioral issues as he adjusted to his new living situation and feline roommate. Saranique is the most talented person I know when it comes to dogs. (I used to show dogs, so I'm not picking her from a small pool of people.) She helped me evaluate a dog I was considering adopting and wasn't afraid to tell me the dog wasn't right for me. She clearly and kindly articulated why and what we could do to find a dog that was a better lifestyle fit for me. Her way of speaking, moving and working with dogs is refreshing, beautiful and rare. I have followed her career rehabilitating dogs and she has been key in helping me rehab my own dog. Walking, training, evaluating; she is the best choice for your canine. read more

We were referred to Saranique of Tres Chien by Wonder Dog Rescue to whom we had turned for help with our two Boston Terrier brother-sister litter mates (3 1/2 yo). These dogs are hyper excitable, intensely bonded and super-aggressive toward other dogs.They specialize in "double-team" attacks, and have inflicted serious injuries on our other two Bostons (unrelated males, 9 and 14 yo). Our house is filled with barriers to keep the dogs separate. The entire perimeter of our yard is double-fenced to keep the two from getting out and attacking other dogs. Nevertheless, they did get out recently and attacked a passing-by woman and her small leashed dog, resulting in both medical and veterinary injuries that cost us several thousand dollars, and a 10-day quarantine order from the city. We were about to give the dogs up when we found Saranique. She changed everything. We boarded the dogs with her for 3 weeks. They came home much changed--calmer, more secure and significantly less aggressive. She accomplished this by, among other things, making them more comfortable as part of a pack, especially using group walks. Under her generous tutelage, we continue to apply her techniques for calming, gentle direction and pack integration with continued, gratifying success. Things are way better at our house. Saranique is, well, unique at what she does. She's been around dogs all her life (her mother was a trainer), and her method is a blend of gentle admonishment (the squirt bottle, used sparingly) and positive encouragement (treats, given generously). But it's her manner around dogs that is most compelling: she is kind, gentle, quiet, and amazingly empathetic (notably so in comparison with other trainers we've tried over the years.) In her own words, she wants you (the dog owner) to become "a generous and confident leader," so in a sense you are being "trained" as well. We cannot recommend Saranique highly enough. I don't imagine there are many "problem dogs" (or owners, for that matter) that she couldn't handle. read more

Saranique has an incredible calm energy that is magical and ideal for working with dogs. She fosters the most challenging dogs which Wonderdog saves from shelters (I foster with Wonderdog Rescue, as well), and she boarded my pit/boxer mix Boogie, the last time I travelled out of state. There are countless dog boarders nearer to me but I would drive a long ways [I dislike driving long ways unless it's a road trip!] -- just to drop my dog with Saranique. I would not consider anyone else for boarding my dog. read more

We soooo appreciate the help and training we have received with our rescue pup. My husband and I were so frustrated and felt defeated every time we would try and walk our Fiona. She was easily distracted and would go into a frenzy every time we walked past a fence with barking dogs. It made walks horribly painful. Saranique showed us tools and tricks through a couple of sessions. She would give us homework and exercises to practice on a daily basis. It was shocking how quickly Fiona learned! We were amazed by the progression and began to enjoy going on walks with our pup again. If it weren't for Saranique I don't know what we would have done.
