It doesn't get much more metal than this kids. If dark, fantasy, Satanic imagery makes you more uncomfortable than wars in the Middle East, this place probably isn't for you. For the rest of us: wow. Such great ambiance! Love the black and white photography and the Satanic altar...that also happens to pour delicious beer! The beers here are all over the place (in a good way), but tend to focus on funk and sour styles. There is probably something for everyone. Metal (which style, I'm not sure, I'm not an expert) blasts over the speakers adding a one-of-a-kind ambiance for a brewery. Despite the evil imagery, the bartender was a kind and friendly fellow. When my friend first asked me if I wanted to go to a metal bar, I figured he meant some dingy dive. Nope. This place is super classy and clean. It's metal in the sense that it's got a satanic vibe and they play metal music. There's dark art on the walls, pentagrams, etc. Some of the art is for sale, btw. All the beers have badass/dark names. Nothing too egregious here (unless you find metal/satanism offensive). The beer was really great. I tried both Suffering Soul (Sour) and Six Three Times (IPA) and they were both fantastic. Purchasing their beer in a store and drinking it in the comfort of your Disney-themed jammie pants while watching The Great British Baking Show (what? don't judge me), is a fine way to enjoy a TRVE beverage. However, if you want to kick it up a notch and be truly METAL, go to the brewery. Warning - it can get loud and the decor veers towards "every day is Halloween". I go to TRVE mainly because I live in the neighborhood and I'm also into the metal scene, so my friends like going here and i tag along without complaint. Generally great music if you're a metalhead, however that's where the positives stop. Their beer is pretty mediocre for the most part, I cannot think of one they do that stands out as great. Service is typically decent, but not great. I haven't experience the same rudeness others talk about. They do employ some unprofessional types, like the same dude who works at HQ down the street and wears an ACAB hat. It's one thing to employ people who believe or like to be edgy and wear this stuff on their off time, it's another when the owners allow their employees to wear these socio-political items while working. It gives me the same distasteful vibe as if they were wearing MAGA hats or Proud Boy paraphernalia. Better beer to be had at Novel Strand or Cerebral brewing, albeit without the metal vibe. read more

Plenty of seating in the back near the fermenters and in the front at big tables. Quite a selection of normal styles (pales/IPAs) and they also have sours. Narrow place with standing wall anchored tables to the right and fancy picnic tables to the left. Walk over a cement floor to the bar that sits on the right about halfway into the place. I didn't read much into this place prior to coming here. At the time, I was looking for a brewery in Denver with some good beer. I was surprised when I entered to find how goth this place was! I have nothing against it and personally, I thought it was neat and different. However, I was more worried about the company I was with since it might not have been their style. I really liked how this place seems to have quite a lot of saisons, one of my favorites! I asked the bartender for a recommendation, however I think he gave me a non-saison style beer. It was pretty good, but not what I wanted. Fortunately, a friend traded with me who didn't like his saison anyways so it worked out. Overall, not too busy here which is great. This place has been on my radar for a while but for some reason or another I never seem to make it in. A glorious October Friday night the stars aligned and I stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. A few words come to mind when I think about this place ... Dark, Unique and Delicious. Dark because of the metal theme, unique because of the variety of beers and delicious because ... well they all tasted so good. So the beer ... The Black Cascade. It's an American black ale that tastes a lot lighter than it looks. It looks like a stout but drinks like ale, one hell of a magic trick if you ask me. The Prehistoric Dog. This is like nothing I've ever tasted before ... Start with a wheat beer and add Hawaiian black lava salt and coriander and out comes the Prehistoric Dog. A tad bit salty but all the way unique and tasty. Hollow Idol. It's a pretty typical Indian white ale with a hint of fruit. Good combination of hoppy and sweet. Bottom line with this place is their beer is good and I will be coming back again and again to see what other things they come up with. read more

Trve is so amazing, it's required to visit when in Denver. The taproom decor, lighting, tables, music, and artwork is perfect for a low key brewery night. The beers are incredible. There is a clean board (non-sour) and a sour board. I love doing a South Broadway sour tour with Baere, Trve, and Black Project. The staff is my favorite. Nice little brewery on South Broadway. The beers are a little hit-or-miss for me. But, I like to do a sampler of the latest and there is usually at least one I really like. Everyone that works here is super friendly and the place is rarely crowded. I love the big community table, but the seats are a bit akward (built for two butts, but if one person gets up, the other falls over). They do not do regular growlers here, and you can't even get their modified growlers unless you are in their growler club, which is sold out. Lame. Parking is definitley a challenge here, so be prepared to circle a few times. There is always some interesting metal music playing and a super fun sign in the bathroom about employees carving slayer into their wrists. read more

We've been trying to go here all summer but they keep cutting back their hours because they keep running out of beer. Bummer problem to have, right? We finally made it a point to stop in and get our growler filled (I'm a member of the TRVE CVLT....yes, I know you're impressed) and even killed time at Argonaut buying too much beer since they don't open until 4 on Saturdays and we weren't feeling the go back home and head back down south thing.. The interior aesthetic is great with some cool, creepy abandoned house photographs on the wall and a big Nordic style communal table down the middle. The space is long and cavernous and they play nothing but metal...I like that the overall situation keeps the douchey riff-raff out. We tried all three beers on tap and all three were solid. The Tunnel of Trees (IPA) was my least favorite (for an IPA) but the Black IPA (almost stoutlike) and Wanderlust (belgian pale) were both delicious. We ended up getting our growler filled with Wanderlust because they had the most of it and the Black IPA was a tad too heavy for summer (but not too heavy for this place). Staff and brewer/owner Nick are actually very approachable and friendly considering this is a metal brewery....not that you may have had any preconceived notions of what a metal brewery might be like in terms of service, but Nick is great and eager to share his beer love with you. read more

I like the themed concept of this bar but the bottom line it is really just a gimmick to pull people in and to differentiate it from other breweries. The fact is that it works. It pulls people into the bar to try their beers. They have metal playing all the time, it's dark and appropriately decorated, and the bartenders fit the mold very well although they're nice not intimating like you might think. Unfortunately, the beers come up a bit short for me. As much as I like the idea of the place, the beer need to get up-to-par to keep me coming back. I found the salty beer as one of my favorites but anyone who isn't into salt probably won't like it. I tried a handful of others and none of them really jumped out at me. I felt most just lacked the flavor I was looking for (a bit watery, if you will). I would definitely tell people to try this place out as beer is subjective. At the very worst case, you will have a good atmosphere with good company. read more

This is one of the most metal places I've ever been to, which I mean as the highest compliment. I'm a huge fan of metal-themed beers but THIS is a metal brewery (since the head brewmaster - I think - is the drummer for Khemmis). There's cool artwork on the walls and plenty of great things for sale, I bought two t-shirts and a pentagram glass to take home. As for the beer, I had a four-beer flight and three of them (Cursed, Cold and Stout O)))) were fantastic - the Dubbel wasn't that good by man they can't all be pearls. I don't even like stouts but whoa the Stout O))) is a total winner. The place was packed and I can't wait to go back and have some more beer there.
