I haven't been to Trve in a long time and we decided to stop in for a beer after grabbing lunch down the street. We walked up to the counter and were reading over the beers. The lady working the register was honestly probably the rudest person I have ever met at a brewery. She was pushy and short with us. We thought about staying for a bit but I didn't want to deal with her again. I got a pale ale and it was okay. The seating isn't the greatest either. All separate tables were taken so we had to sit on the long community table, which I felt like we were so close to other people we could all hear each other's conversations. I will say the food looked really good coming out of Music City in the back. I would maybe come back for that fried chicken.
Love this little brewery! Decent food with vegetarian options and nice staff. Love the heavy metal/devil vibe, but maybe it's not for everyone. In a good location near shops I like to stop by.
Went with my husband who is a huge metal fan. This place plays metal and makes great brews. Hubby had two of their IPAs and they both had an excellent hop nose and delicious flavor. I had their Porter. It had the roasty, malty flavors I like. The service was fire and the atmosphere is solid. Great local art on the walls for purchase. They have some fun merch too. We will be back.
Went here for brunch after being told they had great beer and a hot chicken place in the back with great sandwiches! My boyfriend and I love breweries and good food, so we made our way here. We got to Trve right when they opened, we were the only ones there. We went up to the bar (they don't do flights) and ordered a beer for each of us. The sour I got was pretty good, they mostly had IPAs. I loved the dark/metal theme they had inside. The bartender was friendly, the merch was good, and it was in a nice location. Overall a great afternoon.
The very unfriendly and unwelcoming female bartender, even after I said "it's our first time here" wasn't happy to see us, to explain anything, or even be nice about trying some samples (this was on 4/30/23). I asked to try some beers (pretty common) and she says "You can have ONE or TWO". And not in a nice way, either. She needs to shut up and go find another job not dealing with people, sorry not sorry. Everyone gets samples at breweries. If you don't wanna give me any or be a dick about it -- no worries! I've got 100 other breweries to choose from! Who might also be happy for my patronage, by the way. I also organize events that bring in business! Won't do it here, girlfriend!! Hope the owner is happy with how you are representing their establishment ;) Also, giving tastes doesn't come out of your pocket, why would anyone care if I try literally everything? Tell me why people in the service industry can just be rude AF and I'm supposed to be nice to them and then also have an expectation that I have to give them my money on top of it? Service industry workers who steal joy, ruin vibes, and expect the hard-earned taking of other people's money need to find a place to go a. Rant over. Not a huge fan of how dark it is inside, even in a bright sunny day it's super dark in the back at the bar. There's some sunshine in the very front. The beer I had was pretty good I don't even remember, it's overshadowed by the negativity we experienced. They had some food, too which is a perk when a lot of other breweries aren't set up for food. I won't be back. At least for a long time, if ever. Plenty of other options where I won't get treated like garbage. Ciao!
Visited here on a Westword recommendation. Pleasant surprise. Known for beer and metal so be prepared for the music blasting from the speakers. Don't let this deter you as their beers are tasty and the service is friendly. Their brews are varied and have interesting names such as Siren and Obsidian Crown. The Siren was a nice Belgian-style Saison and the Obsidian Crown was a heavier Imperial Stout with some chocolate and coffee notes.
Spicy chicken and interesting beers. Darkly lit with metal band music being played. A nice mix of bearded men and a few women. I usually start with a 16oz draft of Belgian style Saison "Siren" for $7. A refreshing slightly hazy beer. Great for spicy chicken tenders. I got 2 sauces. The Fireball Maple was too sweet and the Siren Beer mustard provided a different spice to complement the chicken tenders. I also got a Mac & cheese side + large side of sweet potato fries, both for $4 each. A bit higher than earlier this year. The chicken sandwich, tenders and vegan Sando didn't increase in price. The vibe is quite funky. Metal music has lots of rapid strumming of electric guitars and percussion but no lyrics. They have increased their non-alcoholic offerings. They also continue to promote local artists with their art on the wall opposite the bar.
This was my second time back to this place, and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. They have a satanic metal vibe going on, the staff was moody, it was also dimly lit and very crowded on the night we stopped by, so that's something to expect. The beers are great and they have several sour beers I really enjoyed and I purchased a few bottles to bring home with me. There is also a hot chicken place located inside that we didn't try, but I will have to come back and try the chicken next time .
Incredible selection of beer and amazing hot chicken. The place is definitely a bit darker than I would prefer. However, I stopped here by myself while traveling to Colorado Springs so it wasn't a big deal this time. Plenty of seating and to go beer options too whether you want to stay there or just get some cans to go. It is also quite loud depending where you sit but thankfully closer to the front it's quieter. Overall a great stop and would go again
I love Trve. I've gotten a few orders of to go beer since COVID hit, and while they are allowing people back into the bar I am still taking mine with. I love the metal theme--fun without being kitschy. And I've yet to try a single beer that was bad. Some aren't to my taste or in my preferred style, but they're all SO GOOD, which is rare for any brewery. I am just sad that it will be a bit before I'm back in Denver and able to revisit Trve!
TRVE's tagline is "beer, metal, Denver." It's one of the places that was high on my list upon moving here. A brewery that not only makes a name for itself due to its forward-thinking beers, but because they're obsession with all-things-metal. I was sold instantly. Now I think it's unfair to say that if you don't like metal music that you shouldn't even bother coming here. Yeah, they play their music loud. Which is part of the reason why I adore them. On Friday afternoon, they had on Doomriders Black Thunder from front to back. If you know, you know. A small sign on Broadway is easy to miss. Once you step foot inside you're greeted with a long and narrow, although comfortable taproom. Bartenders are always friendly and down to earth, willing to give recommendations. TRVE unveiled two new beers this past weekend, so my buddy and I popped in for a pre dinner beer. The Lost Causes Pale Ale is fantastic. It's light and clean, yet loaded with citrus and heavy melon flavor. Also, I had to try their collaboration with OMF and of course, it was so damn good I had to buy a 4-pack for the road. The coolest element of TRVE is their unmatched identity. They are who they are, and that's that. The more the merrier, but if it's not your thing they respect your decision to find another spot. This place is just down the block from where I'm staying. So it was the perfect place to end my night of brewery hopping. I got there close to closing so I only got one beer. I got their Strange Gateways schwarz. It was delicious but hard to put down because I had a lot of beer by then. The decor inside was neat and I liked the darkness of the taproom.
Looking for a metal brewery? Look no further. You're here! The man and I just moved to Denver and were out exploring the city when we came upon this gem! I'm usually not a beer drinker but their local selection won me over. The place is not shy about playing death metal, black metal, BDM/Slam, etc. If you have an ear for any metal, this is your bar. If this kind of environment bothers you or you're not into that scene then you may want to keep going. The place has a dark & grim yet subtle atmosphere & decor. FYI. The business is following the COVID-19 restrictions.

We visited TRVE on our last visit to Colorado and will definitely be returning. I didn't look it beforehand and didn't have any idea of what to expect. Walking in, it definitely puts off the heavy metal vibes. The taproom is dark and somewhat small. There's a bar to order beer from, lots of communal seating, and Music City Hot Chicken in the back. We did order food and I highly recommend it. I also tried a few beers and I really enjoyed them. They have several IPAs and some that are a bit more funky. The beers do rotate so there's something different. I really enjoyed "Only Death is Real": Brewed in Collaboration with Death & Co. Saison Brewed with Local Malt and Fermented on Passionfruit Puree, Ginger, Juniper Berries, Lemon & Lime Peel. Definitely check them out if you haven't! read more

I had no idea what to expect walking into TRVE as my husband wanted to go here for an early evening outing and I didn't look it up beforehand. It is very lowkey from the exterior and to my surprise it was a very dimly lit and a long room that gives ode to heavy metal music and a darker theme. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the music and even though it's not a genre I'm a fan of, it gave the brewery some great personality points! The menu is small, yet mighty as all the items we tried were fantastic. As people that are kind of sour beer snobs, they really know what they're doing with their sours - delicious!! The staff members were friendly and they do indeed check IDs so don't forget them. We also tried out the Music City Hot Chicken place at the back of the brewery too and thought it was great. Ordered the Nashville Chicken Sando and The Lion's Mane sandwiches - 10/10. As the name suggests, the chicken sando was definitely hot! I don't typically get vegetarian based food items, but I was curious about the lions mane mushroom sandwich and I would absolutely recommend it as it's juicy, flavorful and wasn't heavy. I would recommend this brewery to those that like a darker vibe, are looking for beers done right and would love to have a tasty meal all within the same four walls. read more
Had a fun vacation day of vintage shopping and walking around and saw that this brewery opened at 3, so after lots of shopping, we arrived a little after 3 on a Monday and already it was filled with happy drink people of almost types. I had a summer ale and loved the service, the overall vibe, and that you could order food if you liked. read more

More of a stop of curiosity to a brewery/ beer bar deemed as heavy metal themed. Quite moody and dark and screamy indeed. The button that led to a speaker overhead the sink in the equally moody and dim bathroom had me raising a curious eyebrow. You'll find a variety of styles on their tap board; they seem not to lean any which way. I hardly recall what we drank here, maybe a dry-hopped sour and some hazy IPA. I vaguely recall something light and easy-drinking. The Nashville Hot Chicken place shares the space with the taproom and is solid as a food option when you're in a pinch. With some embarrassment, I never knew the TRUE way to call this EDGY brewery, but now I do. ;) read more
Personally, I wouldn't come back to visit. Mainly because their host Ben (if that his real name) was extremely rude from start to finish. Their ambience and music wise was definitely not my thing but one of our friends was dying to taste their beer selection; so we went. Sunday evening, group of 7 and we had to sit in 2 separate tables as 1 table was a max of 6. Since we were trying to have conversations, we would get up to trade tables but the workers really didn't like that. I get the reasoning with safety precautions and COVID but seriously we came as a group. I wasn't happy they gave us so much crap just because we were talking and took longer than usual to order our beers since the place was extremely dark. We stuck yo the rules about having max of 6 but I guess moving around is a huge deal. Rules are rules... From all the beers we tried our favorite was the Total Funeral - Imperial Stout and strong! read more

Finally got to check this place out on a Thurs after 5p and it was pretty bumpin'! Gotta love the dark and goth theme. Beers were slapping' and so was the chicken! Whole place smelled like waffles, imagine that. read more

Sour beer as black as my heart (kidding, but feels appropriate), Nashville hot tempeh, and metal. Their beer is some of my favorite after living in Denver for 8 years and Fort Collins for 2 -- so I feel that says a lot! Dark and moody interior; the perfect spot for a Fall or Winter night! P.S. the hot chicken spot is a separate entity within the brewery. I give them 3 stars. Good, not mind blowing, an even with the hottest option, tasted mild. read more

As a huge metal head, stopping by TRVE was a must for me. The brewery was decked out in swaths of red and black pentagrams, goat heads, and candles. There was black metal playing, but it was set to a socially acceptable volume (i.e., you can carry on a conversation without having to yell at one another). My group of three opted to sit directly at the bar, although there's plenty of seating elsewhere if you're so inclined. Beers here are for connoisseurs, and I don't think I'm at that level yet. My husband and brother-in-law, however, thoroughly enjoyed their draft beers and re-upped. We'll definitely come back to TRVE Brewing on our next visit to Denver. PARKING: We parked in the street right in front of the brewery at a meter. BATHROOMS: Clean and equipped with legit AF metal stickers. YELP'S 2018 REVIEW CHALLENGE: #23 read more
Goth metal? Yeah, this place is pretty rockin'! The beers that is and service behind this place pronounced True Brewing. Interior wise it's dimly lit, and you'll see the long shareable table immediately followed by Merch and the bar area. Two more doors down and you'll find the bathroom. The beers are quite good and the attentive beertender answered all of our questions. The time we came we mostly saw Pale Ales, Saisons, and one Stout. The names of the brews are all metal themed. Buried Sun was quite tasty. You can see what's on tap when you get close to the bar or they do have a printout that's easier to see. This place was a little out of our way but we came here based on one of those "Best of Denver" lists and it didn't disappoint. I just wished they had a bit more, that's all. Also more beer with higher ABV, that would've been great. But this place does feel like one of those "Local" joints where the commoners could all just hang out, have a great brew, and listen to Loud Rock Music (Ok, they don't do that here, but I'm glad they don't because I wouldn't be able to last a long). I digged some of the local art that's hanging on the walls here. Lots of B&W work that fits nicely to the theme of this place. read more

Trve (pronounced "True") Brewing was my girl Marilyn C. and I's first stop during our sunny Saturday Broadway brewery hop! It was def a scene in itself. Trve markets itself as a metal brewery. Needless to say I was curious about how they would possibly execute that. Well it was pretty unique and awesome! The Space: It's a long, dark, and narrow space right off Broadway. In fact my friend and I drove right past it! As we walked up there was a rather eclectic group of business men (I saw several velvet blazers, crimson in color of course) taking in some of the warm Colorado weather by the roll up doors. There's seating to suit any size group. The walls were decked out with traditional American tattoo style art for sale. The beer taps were set up like and altar. That was pretty awesome! Like most other breweries in the area they have a small merchandise selection too. The Brews: The tap menu featured names like Scorn (pale ale), Unholy Upheaval (Belgian dubbel), and Burning Off Impurities (mixed-culture amber with coffee). Both my friend and I started with Burning Off Impurities and found it to be quite tasty. It tasted like cold brew coffee with a tang to the aftertaste much like kombucha. After that my friend chose to sample a few different brews, while I opted for Buried Sun (French farmhouse/saison). It was def tasty. They have a wide variety of mixed culture beers that tend to be a little tart/sour. The Staff: They staff was quite friendly and very helpful with explaining some of the different beers. They checked on us often and ensured our glasses were never empty. They do card EVERYONE unless they know you or you're a regular. I get it. It's a metal brewery and had this been younger me I probably wouldn't have minded the blaring music. Early 30's me found it a little difficult, but not impossible, to converse with my friend. I'll stop back in to sample some of their other brews when I'm in the mood for some loud dark metal and a cold one. Probably not to catch up with friends though. read more

We kind of had an idea of what this place would be like from reading yelp reviews. I didn't mind the music or the dark heavy metal theme. But the beers weren't that great. We got 2 flights of Clean beers to try. The only one I liked was the table beer with coffee called Electric Eye. And then my group thought one beer smelled like pee called Cold. The beers here just didn't hit the spot for our group. It wasn't as crowded compared to other brewing we went to throughout the day. Parking was street parking. read more
Really good beers!! Unique and delicious!! I'm not a fan of the death metal vibe at all, and because of this, I won't return. See the attached pics of the beer list. The IPA I had was outstanding....but the deadly "music" I had to endure took away from my enjoyment. read more

Service was friendly, music was great if you like metal, ambiance was dark and cool, beer was the best. Everything I tried was delicious. Didn't get to try the fried chicken spot in the back but that also looked really good. Will def return when I come back to Denver. read more
