There are walking trails and ultimate frisbee in the neighboring park. The dog park itself has two sections for small and large dogs. The park has mulch and dirt and not much else. The area is peaceful surrounded by large trees. I imagine in the peak of spring and fall it is beautiful.

Great westside run in upscale area of Manhattan…read more Things it has going for it: - Plenty of shade, between big buildings - Plenty of seating for humans (most I have seen at any dog run) - Great fencing, gates and entry area - Dedicated dog water fountain in large dog run - Hose to clean/cool off dogs - Concrete ground cover will keep your dog cleaner than dirt or that crushed stone stuff - Plenty of room for dog to run - Good drainage - Separate large and small dog runs Things it has against it: - No bathrooms near run for humans - Parking an issue if you dont live locally - No poop bags - No water in small dog run - Can get windy One of the best urban dog runs I have found in the NYC area. Even though it has concrete as the ground cover I don't see it getting too hot for your dogs since there is so much shade. Add poop bags and water in the small dog run and this a 5 star run. It's always so nice to see how clean the park is, as I've noticed fellow dog owners doing a great job of cleaning up after their pets. There's a real sense of community, and I appreciate that they provide dog bags for everyone! The 16,000-square-foot playground was made possible by a $400,000 fundraising campaign. The playground is named for John "Bodie" Vaccino", a local Milford boy who was born with cerebral palsy. When he was younger, his parents took him to a boundless playground called Hannah's Dream in New Haven. Bodie was able to play with his sister, Emma, as if he had no limitations. His parents then set a project in motion to bring a similar playground to their hometown of Milford. They didn't want a playground just for children with disabilities, but rather a community play mecca for kids of all abilities. The playground was designed by John Hollerbach, owner of Creative Recreation, who has worked on other projects associated with the nonprofit Boundless Playgrounds. An adjoining splash pad opened in July 2018. My family and I recently visited Bodie's Place Playground while we were on our summer break from school. My wife and I are always looking for good playgrounds for our sons, and we heard lots of great things about Bodie's Place. The playground actually features 2 large playscapes: one intended for younger children (ages 2-5) and another intended for older children (ages 5-12). We thought that both playscapes were equally impressive. After our sons played on them for a while, they changed into their swimsuits and headed on over to the equally impressive splashed. Both of our sons had a blast! I must also note that there are plenty of amenities at the park, including bathrooms, pavilions, picnic tables and benches available at the park. We highly recommend Bodie's Place Playground to families with small children and look forward to returning!

No clue whether that's true but special places like this are gathering spots enhancing life and community, which is sorely needed in these days of social isolation. Therefore, any projects developing community care ought to be nurtured and expanded for its citizenry to thrive instead of only survive.

There's a peaceful little pond next to a parking area if you just want to relax with a cup of coffee or sandwich. There's a bonafide camping area that you can reserve that will handle a largish crowd and has composting toilets. There are so many hiking trails and you can see coyote and bear and all kinds of other wildlife if you're lucky. The trails are easy to follow and well marked and it's very hard to get lost. There's a picnic area that will be good for families or larger groups. There's even a small dog park on the road in. Love this forest!

Twin Brooks Park is a very beautiful and well maintained park. It has a nice paved walking/bike…read morepath with flowers and trees that bloom in spring and summer. There are a total of 5 ponds/lakes, two of which people sometimes fish at. There are swings (in very good condition) and a playground that is suitable for kids around age 4-13. In the winter Twin Brooks has easily the best sledding hill in a 10 mile radius. It's such a good sledding hill that it can actually be dangerous due to the sheer distance. With most sleds you don't have to worry but with high quality inner tubes you can generate a lot of speed. Sledding not your thing? No problem! There is also an extensive network of mountain biking/hiking trails in the woods to the north of the park. In fact you can mountain bike or hike from Beach Memorial Park all the way to Twin Brooks! Twin Brooks is beautiful in all 4 seasons, just don't forget your Trumbull parking pass. If you don't have one there is street parking on Franklin Street.
