After spending a couple of days at home with our little visitor, Scout, we knew we needed to get him out to run and play so we took a visit to the Danbury Dog Park. This park has a lot of space and has two fenced in areas; about 0.8 acres for small dogs 20 lbs or less and a larger 1.1 acre space for bigger dogs. There is water available as well as bags to clean up after your dog. Each play area is double gated so you can safely take your pooch in and out. We went to the big dog area and the dogs who were playing immediately came to the fence to sniff the new guy. We let Scout sniff through the fence for a couple of minutes to get acclimated and then took him in. The dogs (and owners) were all friendly and well behaved. We went to the back area of the park because Scout loves to chase tennis balls and we didn't want to distract the other dogs up front. There was plenty for him to run and chase the balls without bugging the other dogs. We'll definitely be back before we have to return him but we have a feeling he will have good memories of his time at the Danbury Dog Park.

The china on the lower level in casing was beautiful and the colors chosen have a very old home comfort feel. Takes you back a bit to another time. Lighting for images is great here and there is a handicap parking close to the ramps which make entry and exits very easy. They offer recycling and trash in their kitchen. The staff on site was very informative and kind. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The videos and photos we took look beautiful!!! I'd like to personally thank Tarrywile for everything!!

It's open from sunup to sundown, and it has its own parking lot (a plus in Westport). It's really more of a large abandoned farm estate than a park. It's beautiful and perfect for dogs to run around in. There's a watering fountain, some toys (but not many--bring your own), and nice benches scattered around the grounds. Nice touch: the benches are named in memory of people's pets. Very nice park.

Just outside the nature center building are the birds of prey (owls and hawks) and inside they have snakes, fish, turtles and lizards. You will see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and ducks out on the hiking trails and pond. The nature center offers programs for toddlers through teens, with on-sight and off-sight programs. They offer summer camp, vacation week camps during the school year and holiday activities. The summer camp is a mix of outdoor activities, time with the animals and craft activities. Older children may choose to do a trip out on the pond with a canoe or a sleepover with a parent. Overall it is a great nature center, it is just a bit off the beaten path. No frills like the one in New Canaan, but honestly it is about the nature, right?

Both my kids loved it and are ready to go back next year. The staff is so friendly and super organized. From the entrance into the parking lot right up until I dropped off my kids in the center, there was assistance of where to go and lots of welcoming smiles for my kids. My son and I went to the campout on Friday night of his camp week. We both had a blast. Again, super organized but laid back enough that we really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this program. We'll be back to explore more that the center has to offer.

There's a lake for fishing and boating and canoeing here, and some nice hikes up to a ridge area. The main area for parking, with a somewhat muddy and rutted parking lot, is on Barlow Mountain Road, next to the lake. There's a small area for a boat ramp, and a few spots for parking. There are also a number of smaller areas to park on various side streets, to access various sections of the park. The trails are pretty well blazed, with maps mounted near the parking areas. The trails are really nice, with some sections being lower and easier, and a little bit of a challenge to get up to the ridge, where there's a nice overlook of the area. It's definitely a nice place to go for a hike!
