Teatown Lake Reservation is a beautiful and peaceful mini getaway only an hour from New York City. I went during peak fall foliage on a weekday, and it was gorgeous. On the weekend, you need to pay for parking. I imagine it gets pretty busy there during the weekend, but on weekdays it is quiet, very few people, and the parking is free. There are a few different trails from which you can choose. You can walk around the lake and through hills, among other things. I did not hike every trail, but hope to return when better weather returns so I can explore further. The trail around the lake is mostly flat and easy to use, but there are a few spots that are a little uneven that require minor effort. The hill loop is less obvious and requires you to follow markers, which isn't too difficult. The path itself is easy to use and is doable by anyone who can walk up a hill. The views you get at Teatown Lake Reservation are gorgeous and are worth the short trip out of the city. It's a great way to relax and escape the noise and bustle, especially if you can go on a weekday when it is so quiet.

Teatown is a beautiful nature preserve with easy level hiking. $5 parking fee from 9-5 for non members is well worth it. Gorgeous, family-friendly hiking and a lake. Beautiful in the winter and I can't wait to go in the spring to see the flora and fauna in full bloom. An hour drive from New York City. Nature education programs and summer camp for the younger ones.

Got there on a Saturday 4 pm. Not crowded at all. All parking is $5 and paid at meter. A staff was sitting at the parking lot to remind you to pay and sold trail map for $1. Nature center was closed but there was a pop up tent to sell some merchandise, water and chocolate. Bathroom is a single stall located in a small brown shed across the road from the nature center. No flush toilet with hand sanitizers. No running water or sink. Spacious and acceptable. There are a few trails. Two are blue and the easiest. Among those two, the lakeside trail is the most popular. Do not bring stroller even it is 'easy'. Path is full of tree roots. The lakeside trail was clean. Leaves were falling and trees were just beginning to change colors. We see may be 20 or less hikers the whole time including a couple of them had no face covering. Signs were everywhere to reinforce masks on during the trail hike. We have two kids 5-8 yrs old. We stopped to rest and the whole trail took us about 1 hour and 20 min. There were benches on the trail for resting. Definitely recommended and will return. Friendly staff. Less than one hour drive from Queens NY. Toll via thongs neck Bridge is about $20 round trip.

I absolutely love this park. There's a lot of different hiking options, whether you want to keep it to a simple stroll around the lake, or if you want a more difficult hike in one of the more far flung areas of the park. There's a lovely variety of terrain, from boardwalks to forest, to lakeside and meadows and swamp. Even in winter, it's very pretty. They have a visitor's center and gift shop as well that has a lot of interesting things to see as well as some nice things to purchase, and the staff is very friendly. Definitely some place I plan on visiting again, soon!

Teatown brings me so much joy. I have been to Teatown a total of 3 times with my school and 2 times were this year. For one of my trips we got to see a bunch of animals and learned a lot about the Lower Hudson Valley from our teacher Maddy. It was super exciting to be able to see the animals close up as Maddy showed them to us. My favorites were the Barred Owl and Red-Tailed Hawk. They also have a bird path where you can see the birds in their homes and I was so excited to see the turkey vulture and all of the owls especially the Great Horned Owl that brought me to tears of joy. My second trip we learned about maple sugaring. The teachers Elissa and Maddy were super insightful on the different ways that the maple sugaring season is affected by the climate and also how Maple trees and other tree populations are effected by climate change. It was really interesting to look at graphs and research collected at Teatown. We also were able to go out and look at the tapped Maple trees and learn about them with Mark. All the teachers were super nice and answered all of our questions. Mark even let us taste the fresh sap after inquiring on what it tasted like and we got to practice drilling into the tree. We also went into the Sugaring House which was super cool and rustic. They have an older version of a maple sugaring house which gave it a very cozy and industrial feel. We even got to taste the maple syrup with was very tasty. I always return from Teatown being so much more knowledgeable and feeling connected with nature. My one recommendation for Teatown is wear shoes that you're willing to get dirty because sometimes it is a bit muddy. Also please respect nature and stay on the trails. My first time going to Teatown a classmate of mine had gone off trail and stepped on a ground wasp nest causing a commotion. I really suggest visiting Teatown as just a place to walk on trails or to learn.

Beautiful trail. Hope to return again sometime soon! If you are a nature lover and/or photography lover this place is eye candy. Super peaceful as well.

Great outdoor conservation park with educational programs, a learning center and trails that run from super easy to a wonderful moderate hike with terrific scenery. Free and easy parking. Most maps are free as well. Go, enjoy

I've known Teatown since I was knee high on a tadpole.... Well, not that little but close. Teatown is incredible and so accessible. A must visit and please, please support it. They have great programs and a very knowledgeable staff. I try to stop by when I visit the family and will ALWAYS have fond memories.

Excellent hike. 1) The reserve has good trails for an easy hike. 2) The lake is one of the most beautiful I have seen. 3) The park is easy with most maps free as well.

The lake wasn't the greatest. They could fit up the trails a bit. None of the little island you could go to were open. Boooo! The only thing I liked was they had multiple decent mile trails. Probably wouldn't go back unless they fixed it up a bit.

Really great hiking trails. I took the Lakeside Loop and the Hidden Valley Trail. The trails are well marked and there are a few maps in the parking lots. It was nice to feel a 100 miles away from everything and only traveling maybe 30 min. Visitor Center was clean and had a few things for sale.

When I lived in Westchester I loved going to Teatown; wonderful trails, and animal exhibits indoors and outdoors.

Nice, scenic hike. Very easy, pretty flat. They make their own syrup so its nice to go to the pancake festival.
