Nowadays, all of us would rather rough it at a Hilton ;) The forest is still there, but some of the trails are blocked off. There must be a reason. It brought back happy memories, cooking on a tiny Coleman stove, using an actual compass to navigate, sometimes waking up with snow outside, always some little adventure. It's a lot more civilized now.

It has a neat little beach and the locals do use it for manual boating (no power boats). Bonfires at the beach and lots of wildlife. Osprey and eagles on occasion. Nice place to visit.

There are basketball courts, fields for playing soccer or softball, and a children's playground. I could not believe the many areas for barbecuing with plenty of picnic tables, charcoal grills, and some areas even had volleyball nets,. Perfect for cookouts, and nice pavilions for events. There is also a beautiful scenic lake where you can rent row boats, and fish. It is also home to the largest pool of all New York State parks that can accommodate 3,500 people.

There is a lot to take in if this is your first time here. This facility is used for all sports…read more(mainly used for school teams), also providing a playground, skating park, beach volleyball, and a trail for the alternatives. A bathroom also provided as a plus. The trail was our main focus. It all starts in the lower lot toward Fishkill Creek. Going to the left, you'll find a sign indicating keeping your dog on a leash, making it the starting point. You'll see signs on the tree marking the color of the trail you're on. A very nice walk to follow along the creek, making it the highlight. It's mainly a flat trail with a very little up and down hills, but nothing too complicating. The ending is a bit strange, coming out to a football field. This is a great place to have get-togethers, along with having many physical activities to make it even more entertaining.

Planned a group outing and Maki was great to work with! Brian, Matt, Andrew and the rest of the team were friendly and reassuring they would save us if we fell or got stranded lol! What a lovely lake generally not open to the public for a private community that was hosting a…read morelovely event the Abele park jam and it was honoring a member that died from cancer. We went today to celebrate one of our girlfriend's birthday. There was a community potluck or you can bring your own and cheer them out yourselves. Everything was allowed great place to swim some parking that was adequate. It was a perfect day to sit out by the water and enjoy jam in a wonderful community of people. The lake is beautiful to own a place here must be a dream because it is just a lovely lovely place to have a boat go for a swim and it's very quiet and reserve for just the community members my day of Sun fun music will be remembered fondly. What a beautiful piece of earth to enjoy it in.
