There are a total of 5 ponds/lakes, two of which people sometimes fish at. There are swings (in very good condition) and a playground that is suitable for kids around age 4-13. In the winter Twin Brooks has easily the best sledding hill in a 10 mile radius. It's such a good sledding hill that it can actually be dangerous due to the sheer distance. With most sleds you don't have to worry but with high quality inner tubes you can generate a lot of speed. Sledding not your thing? No problem! There is also an extensive network of mountain biking/hiking trails in the woods to the north of the park. In fact you can mountain bike or hike from Beach Memorial Park all the way to Twin Brooks! Twin Brooks is beautiful in all 4 seasons, just don't forget your Trumbull parking pass. If you don't have one there is street parking on Franklin Street.

We've…read moremade quite a list of good playgrounds in the tri-state area, but one of our absolute favorites is Julie's Jungle in Hopewell Junction, New York. Inceptioned in 2012, the playground was named after Julie Keating. Young Julie was afflicted with both physical and cognitive disabilities and was often unable to join in on the fun at her local park. She tragically passed away in 2007 at the age of 15. Her younger sister Natalie later wrote a letter to the East Fishkill recreation committee asking them to build a handicapped-accessible playground. The town accepted the proposal. Phase I of the playground opened in 2016 and Phase II was completed in 2018. Julie's Jungle was the first fully accessible playground built in Dutchess County. It was built for children of all abilities to play and learn together. It's equipped with accessible routes and paths throughout, ramps, spacious decks, short stair heights, Braille play panels, and even a sensory garden. Whenever my family and I are passing through the area, we always make a point to stop at Julie's Jungle. Both of my sons love playing here. They have so much fun that our visits seem to end in the blink of an eye. We wish that more playgrounds were like this. FUN FACT: For those parents like me who enjoy good craft beer and wood-fired pizza, Sloop Brewing Company is just a three-minute drive away!

Just outside the nature center building are the birds of prey (owls and hawks) and inside they have snakes, fish, turtles and lizards. You will see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and ducks out on the hiking trails and pond. The nature center offers programs for toddlers through teens, with on-sight and off-sight programs. They offer summer camp, vacation week camps during the school year and holiday activities. The summer camp is a mix of outdoor activities, time with the animals and craft activities. Older children may choose to do a trip out on the pond with a canoe or a sleepover with a parent. Overall it is a great nature center, it is just a bit off the beaten path. No frills like the one in New Canaan, but honestly it is about the nature, right?

From the entrance into the parking lot right up until I dropped off my kids in the center, there was assistance of where to go and lots of welcoming smiles for my kids. My son and I went to the campout on Friday night of his camp week. We both had a blast. Again, super organized but laid back enough that we really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this program. We'll be back to explore more that the center has to offer.

My toddler loves the smaller playscape. There are a few slides and plenty of different ladders and stairs to climb. BEWARE- after a good rain the area around this climber is a giant puddle. There's a slide that goes right into the middle of it. We avoid this park after a rainstorm for this reason. The larger playscape seems pretty fun. My toddler still climbs on it when it's not too crowded. It has a lot of ramps and some fun slides. I climb with him or stay close by because there are some openings to climbing structures he cannot navigate that are pretty high up. There are also swings (including baby swings), covered picnic tables, a sand/ digging area, and some outdoor musical instruments inside the fence.

It is ADA compatible which in addition to being accepting to everyone makes being a parent easier, ease of access to high areas. My daughter loved the slide that was essentially a string of rolling pins. The only slide of its design I've come across. There are plenty of swings and there is a nice covered area with picnic tables. It is completely enclosed and gated, so it takes a bit for the little ones to get away! Always a plus. In the play area there is a sand box with some shovels, the sand is pretty well used at this point and isn't all that soft but it's useable. There is also a really fun little pipe instrument setup with the gates. If you venture across the street there is some hiking trails in the woods, nothing overly long or daunting but it was nice for a stroll in the woods with the baby and the the dog.

My daughter is only three years old. She did not hit the child or do anything to him, but for some reason, the mother became offended and approached my wife. On top of that, my wife is pregnant, and this woman threatened her, saying that something was going to happen to her if she did not control her daughter, and that because she was pregnant, something could happen to her as well. My wife felt unsafe and immediately went to the owner to explain what had happened. The owner basically said that he could not do anything. How can someone go to a children's establishment, be threatened by another customer, report it to the owner, and be told that nothing can be done? My wife was threatened with comments suggesting that something could happen to her and her pregnancy, and the owner did absolutely nothing about it. I do not recommend this place to anyone, especially families with young children.

I brought my 3-year-old daughter, as I normally do. At one point, my daughter approached another child because she wanted to play and took a toy the child was holding. She is THREE YEARS OLD. Of course, I immediately stepped in and asked her to give the toy back. Children are children. These kinds of small situations happen all the time, and as a parent, I handled it immediately and appropriately. What I absolutely did NOT expect was the mother's reaction. She spoke to my 3-year-old daughter in an extremely rude and aggressive manner. I chose to ignore it because I did not want to create a scene or ruin anyone's day. But then it became MUCH more serious. The woman approached me directly and told me that I needed to "watch" my daughter because her son is autistic. I completely understand and respect that every child has different needs, and that was NEVER the issue. The issue was the way this woman chose to address my child and, more importantly, the threats she made toward me afterward. She told me that if anything happened involving her son again, I would "see what she was going to do to me." She then noticed that I am pregnant and made comments that made me feel personally threatened and extremely unsafe. At that point, I immediately went to the owner and explained exactly what had happened. I told him that I had been threatened and that I was prepared to call the police because I did not feel safe. The owner recommended that I leave and offered to refund my money, which I did not accept. I left because I had no intention of putting myself or my 3-year-old daughter in a potentially dangerous situation. And honestly, THIS is the part that bothers me the most: I was the person who ended up having to leave. I did not threaten anyone. I did not insult anyone. I did not physically confront anyone. I did not create a scene. I simply corrected my 3-year-old daughter and asked her to return a toy. Yet after being confronted and threatened by another adult, I was the one who had to remove myself and my child from the environment. I have been coming here for YEARS, so writing this review genuinely disappoints me. I never expected to have an experience like this at a place where I had previously felt comfortable bringing my child. I want to be very clear: this is not about the child being autistic. I have respect and compassion for children with special needs. This is about an adult choosing to aggressively confront a 3-year-old child and then making threatening statements toward her mother, who was visibly pregnant. A place where parents bring their children should be a place where families feel SAFE. No parent should have to worry about another adult threatening them or their child while simply trying to enjoy a normal outing. I sincerely hope management takes situations like this seriously because parents should never have to choose between staying somewhere they paid to enjoy and leaving because they are afraid for their own safety. After this experience, I personally would think twice before bringing my child back, because I can no longer say that I feel completely safe there. It is incredibly disappointing to go from having years of positive experiences to leaving a place feeling threatened and unsafe. Parents deserve better. Children deserve better. And no one should have to tolerate threats simply because they brought their child somewhere to play.

There's a good size playground for younger and older children, including swings, slides and monkey bars as well as a big sandbox with 2 excavators. Sprinklers are turned on during the summer (don't forget your kid's bathing suit and towel). Where the bathrooms are located at inside the community room, there's a billiard and ping pong table, a water fountain and vending machines for your convenience. Next to the playground, there's a basketball and tennis court, where you can also play handball, badminton and volleyball. This park could get a bit crowded during summer camp times but it isn't too bad.

The farm is free to attend and roam around, and it's great for dates or hanging out with friends. There is extensive grounds and beautiful architecture.
