The 16,000-square-foot playground was made possible by a $400,000 fundraising campaign. The playground is named for John "Bodie" Vaccino", a local Milford boy who was born with cerebral palsy. When he was younger, his parents took him to a boundless playground called Hannah's Dream in New Haven. Bodie was able to play with his sister, Emma, as if he had no limitations. His parents then set a project in motion to bring a similar playground to their hometown of Milford. They didn't want a playground just for children with disabilities, but rather a community play mecca for kids of all abilities. The playground was designed by John Hollerbach, owner of Creative Recreation, who has worked on other projects associated with the nonprofit Boundless Playgrounds. An adjoining splash pad opened in July 2018. My family and I recently visited Bodie's Place Playground while we were on our summer break from school. My wife and I are always looking for good playgrounds for our sons, and we heard lots of great things about Bodie's Place. The playground actually features 2 large playscapes: one intended for younger children (ages 2-5) and another intended for older children (ages 5-12). We thought that both playscapes were equally impressive. After our sons played on them for a while, they changed into their swimsuits and headed on over to the equally impressive splashed. Both of our sons had a blast! I must also note that there are plenty of amenities at the park, including bathrooms, pavilions, picnic tables and benches available at the park. We highly recommend Bodie's Place Playground to families with small children and look forward to returning!

There are walking trails and ultimate frisbee in the neighboring park. The dog park itself has two sections for small and large dogs. The park has mulch and dirt and not much else. The area is peaceful surrounded by large trees. I imagine in the peak of spring and fall it is beautiful.

Even though it has concrete as the ground cover I don't see it getting too hot for your dogs since there is so much shade. Add poop bags and water in the small dog run and this a 5 star run. Would go to again. Model for future runs. Dog runs/parks I have been to so far: http://www.yelp.com/list/nyc-area-dog-parks-runs-queens-4

The fencing in areas needs to be replaced and the ground cover also gets muddy after a good rain. Upgrade fencing , bring in a dedicated dog drinking fountain and this is a 3 star dog run. Just relocated into CT and can say this Dog Park is mediocre at best and needs the city to stand up…read moreand use the fees we pay to fix it..... Voluntary Labor only gets things so far and as this is a city park even an average lawyer could prove the city liable for things..... Fix the gates! The repairs installed are a hazard to Dogs and Kids...., Mow the grounds.... keeps pests down and makes finding dog presents a lot easier than using the bottom of your shoes. Lighting.... Simply replace the burnt out bulbs would help us early AM evening visitors. I thought the area had everything possible and done.... Sad to know dog parks in SD, IL and IA are thousands of times better, have volunteer workers AND use tax funds to maintain safe areas. UPDATE: Apparently you enlightened liberal dog owners have very little knowledge of Kennel Cough and other diseases when your happy that others leave toys and bowls in the park. Many praise it and as one who pays attention will ask those happy with this if they are enlightened enough to believe everyone is vaccinating and caring for their pet as much as you do? I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT. If your dog gets aggressive... Leash Up and/or Leave! If your dog bites another dog.. exchange info and call the Police so a report is made. I have witnessed TWO events where the aggressive dog owner leaves and says NOTHING as the injured dog owner is attending to their pet. Hey, but I must be the one with the problem here! At least the park people got off their dead behinds and removed the wire below the first gate and mowed. I guess installing new lights to illuminate the park is to much to ask for and expect! Sad that the taxes paid do not cover BASIC maintenance issues to the over paid and under worked park staff.... keep sitting in your vehicles on your phones and we can start documenting your "strenuous" work day for you.... Again.. I will gladly show up and pitch in to help and I do believe it's time to demand the Park Board, Mayor and City Council start getting outside with us and take care of what the taxpayers have purchased BEFORE another item is purchased or leased.....
