There's a peaceful little pond next to a parking area if you just want to relax with a cup of coffee or sandwich. There's a bonafide camping area that you can reserve that will handle a largish crowd and has composting toilets. There are so many hiking trails and you can see coyote and bear and all kinds of other wildlife if you're lucky. The trails are easy to follow and well marked and it's very hard to get lost. There's a picnic area that will be good for families or larger groups. There's even a small dog park on the road in. Love this forest!

The 16,000-square-foot playground was made possible by a $400,000 fundraising campaign. The playground is named for John "Bodie" Vaccino", a local Milford boy who was born with cerebral palsy. When he was younger, his parents took him to a boundless playground called Hannah's Dream in New Haven. Bodie was able to play with his sister, Emma, as if he had no limitations. His parents then set a project in motion to bring a similar playground to their hometown of Milford. They didn't want a playground just for children with disabilities, but rather a community play mecca for kids of all abilities. The playground was designed by John Hollerbach, owner of Creative Recreation, who has worked on other projects associated with the nonprofit Boundless Playgrounds. An adjoining splash pad opened in July 2018. My family and I recently visited Bodie's Place Playground while we were on our summer break from school. My wife and I are always looking for good playgrounds for our sons, and we heard lots of great things about Bodie's Place. The playground actually features 2 large playscapes: one intended for younger children (ages 2-5) and another intended for older children (ages 5-12). We thought that both playscapes were equally impressive. After our sons played on them for a while, they changed into their swimsuits and headed on over to the equally impressive splashed. Both of our sons had a blast! I must also note that there are plenty of amenities at the park, including bathrooms, pavilions, picnic tables and benches available at the park. We highly recommend Bodie's Place Playground to families with small children and look forward to returning!

The park is almost 300 acres of beach, dunes, salt marsh, and woods. You can beach, swim, fish, walk along the beach or boardwalks, birdwatch... (FYI: alcohol is prohibited, so this is a beach for families, relaxing, and no-alcohol fun.) It's free for in-state registered vehicles. If your car or rental car is not registered in Connecticut, it costs $22 on weekends or holidays and $15 on weekdays (or $112 for a season pass). We couldn't stay long (the downside of a roadtrip with a planned out itinerary), which was too bad, because the beach was very nice! Crowded, perhaps, but what beach isn't on a hot July day?! I could've stayed a while with an umbrella for shade, a book, and a picnic! A lovely public beach.

It's fully fenced, and there are various spots of grass, bigger trees for shade, and a few spots of humans to sit. There are also some bowls for water (not sure who fills them). If I lived closer, I'd definitely check it out more often. It's one of the most pleasant dog parks I've seen.

I would bring some water if possible to fill up the bowls for your dog, I do not believe there is a water source on site. Seems like the type of place people stop by to let their dogs run while they are walking their dogs, which I love. Pop in for a little bit and let the dog run, then continue on your walk! My dog has only met lovely fun dogs there so far. Great location- I'll be going here a lot during my time in New Haven.

Nice touch: the benches are named in memory of people's pets. Very nice park.

Coming to this spot is starting to become a weekly ritual for our family. The park isn't anything…read morefancy but is a good size, fenced in area, and kept pretty clean. There are plenty of benches and tables for the humans to sit, water bowls for the dogs, and owners are generally good about picking up after their dogs and watching that they stay out of trouble. There's also a separate small dog area. Our dog loves it there and we have a pretty good time too.
